It is definitely a good sign that they made open world RvR in line with the scenarios. I just get burnt out on instanced battlegrounds because they are always the same damn thing.
Anyhow it's a good video, but I believe it came up in this months newsletter already.
Based off previous information, I could tell this kinda thing would be placed into the game...but I'm very excited that the developers will implement equal balance into open world RvR and instanced RvR.
I was just excited to hear they are responding well to feedback. Every time I look back at WAR it excites me more. Open RvR being meaningful and having guilds play a roll is something im looking forward to.
Well the surprise is that they had toned the open RvR part out of the game? and then had to put it in , because of popular demand!
And i am not sure that a 1/2 solution is any good .I find that this is actual an area where Mythic are misjudging their player alot! And have build this game Wrong. I am sure that scenarions would be even less important for players than the open world RvR than the equal split they are aiming at now!
thats worth thinking about. Why based a game that much on instanced battle- where did they get that idea from, thats was the way to go? There must have been a reason to leave the biggest asset from DaOC behind and go for something else?
Because while a scenario is fun to play , it fundamentaly belongs in the leaque like , sports like competive mmo setting, where teams compete about who is best at this challange an instanced scenario brings. Its not the coolest thing in a 2 side conflict. Because players lack the feeling that the do a difference where they are, as there effort is number in a calculation of the points in a row of scenarios. It does not give satisfaction and ad to realm pride in the same way as standing on a frontier do!
I fear that they have been going along the road ,of instanced scenarios , because they are easy to balance , and in that way they also comes around an inbalanced realm (population vise). And Mythic have stated that the way to deal with population imbalance is to expect it and plan around it. i think as opposed to actual try to balance it!
And now they bring open world RvR in on an equal lvl as instanced scenarios, but do they then have any solutions to population imbalance then? Because they are now really going to be needed, if instanced scenarions was the fix to server imbalance.

It's fine with me.. the majority of the game isn't instanced scenarios.. and server unbalance might be an issue.. however, I'm planning to roll order. So, if all the polls and all the destruction guilds are an indicator of the imbalance of the two factions.. then I'll just have more people to kill then won't I?
I think most of the table-top players and older gamers will lean toward the evil side, where as some of the younger players may roll order. I think it won't be as imbalanced as some may be lead to believe.
This sounds completely awesome. I'm glad the world has more to offer then the instance. Now it's really a choice weather or not you want to do a scenario or the world.
Siehst du mich Erkennst du mich Ganz tief in meinem Herz ist noch ein Platz f?r dich Ich suche dich Ich sehne mich nach dem was ich geliebt hab doch ich find es nicht
Sounds interesting and it seems they are listening to beta testers as far as content and how its used. Though I am still not sold on this game yet it does have enough to make me keep an eye on it.
Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there, 80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters. Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior, and he will bring the others home. -Heraclitus 500BC

I wouldn't be to sure about that just yet. If the instances offer more "reward" (loot, realm points or whatever) then World PVP will not exist. They did say that both would have "equal" value but what they mean by that wasn't to clear to me.
Have to wait and see... I just hope world PVP is the most important.

I think the good part is that they have added more Open World RvR vs Instanced RvR.
In this phase of the beta, they can begin the tweaking and rebalancing process to get the importance of OWRvR vs. Instanced RvR in a comfortable range for all players.
That's for the beta's for, and I am pretty sure the beta testers will give them massive input and feedback during the process.
By design only WAR now offers somthing for everyone, if only guilds could add on extra bits to the keeps and actally 'hire' guards instead of them automatically spawning...meh..
Good stuff. So they're going with their strengths rather than trying to complete a different system than DOAC. That sounds fine to me, Keep Capture sounds interesting and I'm not a hardcore guild player.
This is great I prefer open pvp over instances, the new changes should encourage a lot more open pvp. I like how a guild can capture them and make it theres for bragging rights.

That's an interesting point... players will need something to motivate them to take the keeps. It won't be enough to do it for "guild honor" especially if keeps are flipping daily.
Thanks to the OP for posting the video. I'm just now learning about WAR and I'm getting more and more interested. I haven't played a good PvP game since Rites of Passage (oops, betraying my age). I look forward to playing a game where people go to war for all the right reasons - to acquire territory and treasure.
Just anothe reason why this game will be THE ONE to play in 2008. These guys seem to get it, man I cannot wait to play this damn game.
I have a few questions that has come to mind though is that since guilds can hold keeps.
1. will there be a limit on how many keeps they can hold.
2. If you have 2 or more guilds attacking the same keep and they finally overpower those inside, whats going to determine who gets to take that keep?
3. If your keep is getting attacked and your not there when you make your way back will there be some type of portal to get back inside or will you have to fight your way back in?
Oh well those are just a few questions off the top of my head and since there is no WAR official forums I thougt I would put them down here.

1. Not yet, since the objective is to capture as many as possible.
2. I would like to know more about this as well... it sounded like it's a position that must be taken, similar to capturing a flag - which could be done by one person. That would make for some great in-game drama, if guilds were making deals to get keeps and then breaking the agreements and claiming the rewards for themselves at the last minute. It would also fit in with the corruption in the Empire.
3. Since we don't know exact info about portals or spell lists, there's no way to know... yet.

Seems good. Maybe not extremely creative, but as long as it's good I'm happy.
Keep battles and open field battles from intercepting groups on the way to keep battles.....now that's WAAUGHHH!!
D.
Great job on that. I hope this puts an emphasis on guild loyalty. Of course it would also make a bigger deal out of guild betrayals.
