Yes.  Why would you think it wasn't?  I was expecting some sys specs of an old 486 or something. image

Half Life 2 easily.. Doom 3 on the other hand calls for higher demands, but your PC will handle it.

The system req.'s on half life 2 are low. I'm too lazy to check the site at the moment though.

1gig ram compared to 512 ram does NOT make a difference in game performance, people use 1 gig of ram for like video editing and stuff.

Im sure my video card will handle hl2 like a charm (says so on the box) but i dono about doom3

lol what are you talking about??????????

I had a 512 MB RAM in my system and doubled it to one gig and I saw a world of difference.  Same system, same Video card...same evrything but another stick of the same brand and type.

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

aye you're good, in this months review of pcgamer they had a review on doom 3...

i didn't look for the reccomendations though

hl2 however, has very low specs, for all those people playing cs right now with suck ass computers..

so you can just change the settings to high for yourself on those

Nope, it doesn't make any difference at all, it's just DOUBLE the ram.

lol shit, wtf have I been doing wasting money on RAM, might as well go back to a 32mb simm! it's offical, dont take computer advice from zerocool lol! And for those who actually don't know, RAM makes a hell of an impact on your game or any other prgram performance lol!

Xzaro you obviously dont know anything about RAM, Ram helps the processor by keeping information closer to it, and as the processor requires thousands of questions to be processed RAM keeps frequently used answers to these questions handy for the processor.  So the more RAM you have the fewer answers the processor has to wait for.  So what this means is that the more RAM you have the less tha game will lag!!

Ok, I don't get what I don't understand? I just said it's 1024 = double of 512 ram. I didn't go into detail about ram for a reason. Anyone with half a brain knows the more RAM you have, the less the game will lag.

Oh, and if you are slow, I was being sarcastic.

Dude, read my post again. When I say DOUBLE in huge letters. It clearly means that when I say "it doesn't make a difference" is sarcasm. Anyone with an IQ of 100 could tell.

It keeps the lag down when you are in a place with alot of people, or mostly in towns. And if the game has big sieges or wars, 1 gig of ram DOES make a difference compared to 512mb ram.

Of course it does.  People mainly use 1 gig of ram with they do alot of video editing.  They can have alot of applications open or programs open without much lag

err.. iq of 100? you have high standards, you are over estimating the public(aka. everyone else but you) image

oh. and about the orig. question, yes it would be good for a whiel but dont expect more than 2x as and no aa, ram is your friend, bush is not :D

Since D3 will require Wxp, and wxp often ties up 300 to 400MB system memory, if you only had 512MB and the OS was using 350MB only having 160MB avail for the client would seriously hender game performance. And of cource rpg games are nortorious memory hogs (rarely freeing memory of that data on-longer necessary to play game, they can easily tie up +500MB alone; especially with modern 5 & 10GB games.)
Splurg & get a matched pair of 1GB ddr (if your mobo supports that.)
Also the R9800pro are about $150 now. If you can get a 256MB R9800pro that should last you into next year. But the X800xt (....ect) even though more expensive, in the pci express format with near 4GHz cpu on 800 - 1066MHz fsb will be like night and day in modern graphically intense gaming.
Though the creator of Doom 3 (Software TM,) indicates one will get higher benchmarks using the Nvidia GF 6800 ultra or gt.
