Movements, Housing, Issiue?

Me and my girlfriend tried Lord of the Rings for few minutes, the controls (movements) was horrible, is it just me?

And one other thing, with housing. Do you loose your house if you are not online for 7 days?

Movements seem fine to me, if you mean the animation then there is an option to fix that. but as far as the housing concern goes you dont lose it unless you fail to keep up the upkeep which is monthly i think... =X

If you are referring to the animations then yes, there is a setting in options for it. Controls can be adjusted but they are like any other MMO (WASD movement, etc). As for housing, payments are weekly, and you can pay up to a month in advance. If you default on the payment, then yes you lose the house, but not the items inside.

    Oh, I see. Thanks guys.

But is it possible to buy property, house and sell it to another player?

And another question, if I try this game. What realm is recommended?

    I live in Europe, Norway!

Would you care to explain what this option does ? I also didn't like the combat animations in lotro; what does this option change ?

I really dont know what you are talking about

Movement is same like every western MMO - Let say EQ2 or WOW

    WASD keys....

Perhaps you look for point and click movement like in asian games ?

Lotro's movement is nice and responds how it should. The only thing I can think of is that your framerate is very low due to a bad computer or wrong graphical settings.

The movement controls are the same as almost every other mmorpg.

If it's the animations you mean, you can set a slider of the animation quality to high. If you do that, the movements will LOOK normal. Anything below high looks like robot movements, and I think you mean that? Because I don't see why you would dislike the movements controls since they are so similar so most mmorpgs......

As for a european realm; try the english RP laurelin. Even if you don't rp that much, it's a very nice server with a nice community.

p.s why the hell are there so many people that cant find the animation quality options, and then wine about it on forums?! sorry, just surprised

No, I'm talking about the combat animations. They suck. They are bad. There is no "feeling" in the lotro combat.

In other mmorpgs (i.ex Lineage 2 and many others) you "feel" it when you hit something. These games are grinds, but they are enjoyable to play if only for the fun combat. But in Lotro, the combat is bland, boring, there is no "feeling" in it.

This is one of the reasons I left lotro. Combat is better and more fun even in some of the free mmos (i.ex: Rappelz  or Perfect World). Now, the above poster suggested there is an option in the settings for this. I'd like to know more about it.

PS: and this has nothing to with low framerate. I played lotro on max settings and play even much more demanding games on max.

I have to admit, I like the Guardian animations. Though I also agree that they are stiff. The L2 animations are very good though.

It seems that the games you are singling out as having great animations are all eastern games. I can't deny that they have a flair for certain things. Probably why L2 is my main game and LOTRO is casual for me.

The option they are talking about only allows full animation detail. It won't make your current animations better but makes them seem more fluid.

Hmmmm... yes maybe it's a difference between the western and the Asian mmos. But then I remember the EQ2 combat as being pretty good (but it's been almost 2 years now so I'm not sure anymore).

Yea, just try to compare a Lineage 2 blade dancer or a Rappelz asura fighter with the Lotro dual bladed champion. It really sucks.

EQ2's combat is based on the characters speed, agility, and weapon equipped...and the animations show this...and you will duck, block with your weapon, etc...very cool...

I disliked the feel of the animations in LOTRO...very herky jerky, and no real feel of hitting stuff...like WoW for example, has a better feel of hitting something, even with it's simpler graphics..

The hit sounds in L2 are incredible, and the movement with the weapons is nice also...but, not as good to me as EQ2 or WoW or even GW (which has some nice looking combat also)

May show each of our own personal tastes as well.

EQ2 is probably the king of animation. They are all fluid 100% motion captured. But remember that you will need real powerful PC to run EQ2 with good graphic quality - everything below looks like game from 2002. And high looks worse than today MMO's aswell.

L2 is great if you like asian manga style ( girls animation that always lifts the skirt to show panties, and males that look like girls )

LOTRO does not have great animation. What it does excell at are beautiful landscape vistas.

LOTRO has the best landscape in any MMO, hands down

Agreed 100%...The landscapes in LOTRO are truly what I have always wanted in a game...

The lackluster gameplay in LOTRO is always what I did NOT want...

Luckily I have a pretty killer system, and with custom settings, EQ2 is one gorgeous game..

Anyways..maybe the next expansion for LOTRO will up the gameplay? Or maybe the next new game will have beautiful vistas and great combat with a storyline to boot? AoC, WAR, Aion?

    One can hope and dream..
