I herd about this about 4 days ago: Exclusive: Capcom Talks New Street Fighter Movie

From Cenimablend.com: What we're announcing here is a movie based around a character, so it gives more story line than the actual movie project in the past which was a general Street Fighter franchise. This is a far more character-based and story-based film that we're working with Hyde Park in developing. Chung Li is one of the main characters and she's one of the most popular characters in the U.S. and also appeals to the Western audience.” Bellfield continued on to say “We want to build a strong franchise successful in a different medium like movies, rather than just handing over our IP to other people to develop movie franchises.”

At first a friend told me it was gonna be Kristin Dunst as Chun Li and now with research it's actually Kristin Kreuk from Smallville. NOTE: If your looking up pics of her with kids around you, keep that safe search on.

I think she can do a good Chun Li, but I'm hoping the movie is good. I know with a storyline it could be a good movie since they only need to focus it around 1 character than the stories of all of the characters like the last movie which made it kinda messed up.

All I know is that it better be about Ryu and ken mostly like the games are and Street Fighter 2 the animated movie.

I think its pretty obvious at this point who the movie is mainly centered around considering the current working title "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li", and the fact that this character is the only one cast as yet.

I would imagine most others will make an appearance though.

Does anyone even remember the backstory to Chun-Li. Been a long time since I've played a Street Fighter game, and to be honest I only played Chun-Li for the upside-down tornado kick which showed her underwear.

Shame Raul Julia died, though. He made a good M. Bison.

I think I started playing as Chun-Li after I hit 14 cuz she is a damn sexy character. Back then I'd play her to see if I can get those darn moves down right and the tornado kick was one of the easiest moves. So your saying the guy who played bison in Street Fighter: The Movie died? That guy was a GOOD bison.

He was probably about the best actor in the first Streetfighter film. He also played Gomez in the two Addams Family films and did a superb job. Streetfighter was his second last film before he passed.

It was called Down came a Blackbird, a made for cable movie. Never seen it but by then they reckoned he looked pretty gaunt in it.

And I agree chun li is hot and everything but I still would rather have something about Ryu and Ken because the last movie did not do them justice at all and it dissapoints the second film will not either.

Unless this is Chun Li just starting the investigation and it might revolve around Ryu and Ken if they make sequels to it. I hope its at least like that.

I read somewhere that they plan to ultimately do multiple movies with each movie focusing on different characters.

Raul Julia was the actor that played Bison. One of my favorite actors, and was in some great movies. He died from complications of stomach cancer, which he hid from the public for some time. He started looking very sickly, though. I think his last movie was technically some made for tv film, if you count that. I think he could barely walk at that point.

In Street Fighter V: II Ken knew Chun Li and her father (a martial artist / investagtor). So Ken is a SURE for being in the movie. Now if Ken knows martial arts, then Ryu is a SURE to be in the movie, based on the story.
