Hmm..im starving..hope this is playable!

I hope this game will be fun..i liked the old pirates game on c64/amiga way back when i was a teenager..
i have tried all mmo's except AC 1&2..
Grew tired of them all..and now all i do is stare at the screen,feeling bored to death..i guess i will buy this no matter what people say(except if people tell me about numerous credit card frauds) ...
so my question is...if i enjoyed the sid meiers pirates like 15? years ago..do you guys think i would enjoy this one??
im mostly a socializer/crafter and not really a pvp player...but if needed i guess i could learn .. well that was my 2 braincells..
See you in the game....perhaps...well most likely anyway!

I think you'll love it
It's a complete blast. It's not like anything other mmorpg. I'm loving the beta and have preordered.
Hope you enjoy it. It's a lot like Sid's Pirates!
Do not expect to much of it though. It is an good game, but nothing special. It is a lot like Voyage Centry, the fighting an traveling part that is.
Never tried voyage century either...guess i missed that one completely!!
guess i can add that one to the narrow list of mmo's i didnt try..
i dont expect anything anymore..hopefully i will like this one..but time will tell!!
If you liked Sid Meiers Pirates!, there is little reason not to like this game. Its basically the MMO version, with a big economy and a pvp / rvr primary focus.
Now those days ROCKED!
I remember playing for hours on my C= Commodore 64 Computer with my 1541 Disk Drive and a banging 300/1200 Baud Modem. Of course, we didnt get to play online. But thought I just throw in the old devices.. haha
But yeah, I am loving the game now, the PvP aspect I cant get enough of.
Meh... I one starts to think about if you're having fun or not you often come to the conclusion that you don't have. The same goes for happiness etc etc.
If you are thinking and waiting for a sensation in a MMO and that it will be the next great game. And so making you gaming life complete. Then you will never find it. Play a game for what it is.

It's a very fun game and I think you'll love the PvP, it's very fun with 5v5 battles where strategy can be crucial. It's not the ship with most or biggest guns that win every time either.
Crafting is special aswell, you'll see. I Built me a lvl 21 Frigate and it took ALOT of time and resources but every component used made sense though.

Well my friend if you like being a Pirate or a Freetrader building this for the Mass of online players or playing a middle of the road you will truly enjoy this one. PotBs has a very Good feel and amazing Sea scapes, the battle is VERY fun on Sea, the Land battle will get better. They are taking Baby steps on the land action. The Sea Battles more than make up for it. If you want to go PVP Great you Flag your self for it, If not, Dont Flag your self and sail around contested Ports that are under attack by other nations. All in all A good Game. I have Been playing MMo's and testing them Since M59 , Uo though the Eq's and so on, I dont miss many closed as well as Open beta tests. Cheers, Cya all in the game. I for one will be playing Pirates Of the Burning Sea.

I will say, on the positive side, the system requirements/performance seemed really strong for the game. There were severe connection issues, hopefully those are squared away, but graphical lag was non-existent on my lower end system for the most part.
Bug wise, it was pretty low as well. Most I experienced had to do with small things like interactions with NPC's involving quests not responding right.
For those that were involved in the Open Beta, and participated in the end of Beta event, know that the devs at FLS are constantly pushing the servers to discover performance/stability issues.
The end of Beta event consisted of everyone of each nation amassing at a given Port. We then formed groups, talked strategy and prepared for battle. Upon getting our coordinates and dropping sails....lag like I have never seen ensued. For many, their ships just froze for several seconds, if not almost a minute.
However, the next day there were posts from FLS staff and devs thanking everyone for participating in the event, stating that they gathered an enormous amount of data and were able to begin pinpointing issues almost immediately!
So, FLS is working constantly to correct bugs, stability and performance issues.
This game is going nowhere but up!

It's ok but give me some room to go fool about in not 50' form Quest Giver to the same Instance time and time again with nothing to do inbetween.
LOL...i don't think you could pick two MMOs with less in common than this game and DDO actually. All the things DDO lacks this game has some version of (robust PVP, crafting, travel) and all the things this game lacks DDO excels at (avatar combat, diverse quests, custom characters).
Now, if anyone found a way to combine the two...we'd be onto something.

Ive tested this game during the open beta. It did not give me the feel of sid meiers pirates!
I only got to level 10 or so dogh...
