WOW is the worst MMO

Besides every other mmo that has been made.

I mean I dislike wow, but I also wish I would have gotten into it more... since mmo's are a lot of what you make of them.  much like people hate their rich neighbors.

To prove my point.... if you could own one mmo for a month, what one would it be?   WOW, because you would be a multi-millionaire in one month, and there are toyota commercials about your game.

If you could own one car, what would it be?  Varies, but something super cool!

If you could force your worst enemy to own any mmo what would it be?  Probably some money-bleeding, dead mmo like dark and light.

If you could force your worst enemy to drive a car, what would it be?  A burning death-trap!

Using the associative property, WOW =  super cool, other mmo's = burning death-trap!

I repeat that I don't play wow, but if I could rewind time, I think I would have from beta, because most people I know that have played wow, have really enjoyed the last couple of years, and they still have a fairly bright future.  In this same time, I have had my up's and down's trying various games (COH, auto assault, gw, lotro, mxo... ect) as you can see, there are some nice up's but big DOWNS too!!

Why do you dislike WoW? It's a brilliant MMORPG. It gives you something to do when you are bored and you can meet people. whats wrong with it?

looks to me like you tried niche games that have no population.  COH is probably the worst thing ever, it's so boring I can't even express my thoughts on it without getting bored, the only cool thing about it is character creation, and honestly they don't look that cool once they are created.

auto assault failed, why? it's a car mmo lol.  what did they expect.

gw.. nuff said, any free mmo will never have the depth needed to keep people playing, unless they have the type of personality where money is everything and 15$ a month for a game is some kind of highway robbery, lol, you can't even go to the movies for 15$ and you only get to go for an hour and a half or 2, 15$ for an entire month whenever you want is a steal.

LOTRO, this game will fail and become a niche game simply because it HAS to adhere to the tolkien lore, you don't get any cool wizards, and you will always be fighting an orc or troll.

mxo could have been one of the coolest MMO's ever, except for the fact that it was so horribly HORRIBLY designed, i'd rather play anarchy online beta with all of the magnificent memory leaks.

Wow is popular for 2 reasons and 2 reasons only. it's super easy, that's probably an understatement. and the computer requirements pretty much will let you play on anything, you could probably buy an old 386DX and you might run it lol.  and today, that's a huge advantage, considering games like everquest2, vanguard, soon to be age of conan will require hefty systems to even have fun, no one wants to run the game on the lowest setting, takes the fun out of it.

don't get me wrong, I am not a wow hater, it's a groundbreaking game, and shows what a real MMO launch should be like, I have never played a game that runs so smoothly on full blast settings, not even lotro which also runs incredibly smooth except in bree.

elondor, in all honesty, your post was the best post I have ever seen in these forums EVER!  (completely serious)

I agree with you completely about every game you mentioned, and have often posted the exact same information.  In fact, it is this melding of gaming experience that has led me to appreciate blizzard's take on the industry despite having never gotten into the game.

I personally like to get into games on the ground level, and experience things that aren't already old news.  I'm a die-hard beta tester, and it is by far the most enjoyable experience for me to find bugs and really analyze the game as what the developers views are upon release.  I really feel as though I missed the boat on wow, as I beta tested it, because it did NOT show any signs of being a cultural icon, as it is now.  Had it, I would be playing it now.

Instead, I have run through these games with their flaws (completely agree with the tolkien lore part!!)  and I find games that are under-funded, under ambitious (cox), and overly profit oriented (vanguards bad launch).

Not to say that wow doesn't have some major turn-offs particularly in the quest sharing department, or the lack of a sidekick system to close level desparity among friends.  I don't even remember my account name, and I do remember leaving irritated by a bug that cost me 5 hours of gameplay trying to get a totem with my shaman!  I doubt I will ever come back, but this game did teach me a lesson about people... particualry people finding enjoyment in unenjoyable things...  I think we all do it, but I personally don't prefer to do it in my mmo's

I myself have been trying to find a new MMO to play, I come from the UO days so I am part of the first generation of MMO's.  I still go back to UO every once in awhile and play it for a month or two, I tried the Kingdom Reborn and I think that killed it for me completely, all I have now are fond memories lol.

Everquest 1 pretty much engraved in my brain what an MMO should be like.  I recently tried EQ2 again and couldn't get back into it, the game is just not good looking, the armor looks absolutely horrible, and the constant having to zone gets old.

They recently reactivated my vanguard account and I have been playing it since.  The game is still buggy, but I can get over it because of how rediculously amazing the game looks even on medium settings.  I have played a ranger to 20 and a rogue to 21, and am sticking with the rogue.  I still think vanguard has a fighting chance with the new management, because when the game first came out I couldn't even move, now I get 40-70 FPS in the wilderness, and well towns still suck to be on but they are manageable.

The reason I am enjoying Vanguard so much I think is because of the freedom you have in the game, there is no zoneing like in everquest but rather old UO invisible zone lines that take almost no time to load.  The classes feel great and EVERY class has it's uses so far, it's amazing.   The models in the game seem out of place, but at the same time are still better than most mmo character models, so i can't imagine how good they will be after they are updated, supposedly in the next big update.  I now have a reason to build a better computer, because if the game looks this great on medium, I can't wait to have a comp that can run it on high or very high.

well, I turned this into a rant lol, sorry bout that :)

World of Warcraft is the worst MMORPG except for all those others that have been tried.

One reason WoW got so popular is people who played on battlenet migrated over.

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

WoW is popluar for the same reason McDonalds is the popular, it's easy, cheap and fast. It proves that most people will go with convienance or having to actually go find something that is good.

Unfortunately no other MMO's out there are actually expensive and quality. They are all just as cheap so price has nothing to do with it :)

Easy.... hmmm yes... less burdersome I would call it. Other MMO's seem to equate "hard" with things taking 2-15 times as long to do the same stuff :)

I don't think anyone would call the high level PvE instances in WoW a "Walkover" ;)

As a vet of wow since the game launched ,I ask this question what is so brilliant about wow? I have been with wow this long because SOE ruined my SWG and nothing else is appealing to me right now. All WoW is now is a Gearfest. With all the millions they are making don't you think the devs can think up better material than more dungeons and more faction grinds? What about epic quests with rewards  at the end = to the best gear n the game?.

I kinda feel the same way, played WoW at the start and got bored with the game very quickly.

And now 3years later my friends are still playing WoW, and I just cant stand the game, you could train monkeys to level/raid in it. I wish I had stuck with it, and tried to like it, because then I wouldn't be going 3yrs and counting without a decent MMOrpg to play.

And this I think is the reason for alot of WoW Hate(i only dislike the game) UO,EQ players like me that want to be challenged in games and have only had the choice of easy and shallow games the last few years cant understand why so many people play a crappy game like WoW, its about as fun and interesting as watching paint dry.

Last good game I played -> DAoC, played everything inbetween uptil now.

Does anyone know how to make a mmoRPG anymore?

Wow is one of the best mmo's to date, but like all games that are popular you will get haters, they only thing wrong with wow is the pve is horrid....the instances are redicoulous...i mean they stay open for 7 days lol come on that just lets you know how much time you will have to spend in there...other then that it was a pretty desenct mmo and better then the majority of mmo's to have come out
