Be aware, these two game companies/games have very slow customer service, and do not fix issues that keep people from playing their games, even when it is their software.

EVE ONLINE?

This game is OK, but think about this. It has been over 3 weeks since i have posted a petition reguarding the issue with vista computer's, and their ccp exe file being blocked out by DATA EXECUTION PREVENTION, they refuse to respond to it, or provide any support for this game, so before you think about purchasheing it if your using vista dont, until they fix it...

I have contacted them with a petition over a week ago or more no response from them with anything yet.

Also read the post here on it...

http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&thread23ID=6559

FURY ONLINE...

It is a great game, however there are issues with the patch installer and vista, when I installed the game, and tried to play run the patch installer it wont install any patches at all, even after I followed the steps, and everything they gave me...

Also I paid for all unlock skills pack, am a subscriber, and have purchased over $100 of items on the first month of the game...

Their customer service has not even contacted me back yet from over 3 days ago I contacted them again, but origionally posted over 1-2 weeks ago, or more.

NOTE, This does not mean all vista application will cause issues...

I am running Windows VISTA ULTIMATE X64 BIT, it works great, VISTA DOES NOT SUCK

It is some software companies that are lying down on their job's, and not programing it the right way.

Note other virsions of VISTA, such as 32 BIT, or Anything other than VISTA Ultimate may not have any of these issues.

But this is a warning, these companies seem not to give a damn about these issues.

Also note I play many other online games, even those not certified for vista, but they work great

Other notes, I have tried windows XP Compatability, and allowing the file through dep, it does no good.

Fury's original developers went bankrupt a few weeks ago, and three months ago they shifted development of the game to the Chinese company that was funding it last year.

So, delays in bug fixing, support and all sorts isn't really suprising.

I'm running EVE on 64 bit Vista without any problems at all, I would say your issue is somewhere between the keyboard and the chair.

Subscribtions: EVE, SWTOR WOW, WAR, DDO, VG, AOC, COV, FFXI, GW, RFO, Aion
    +plenty of F2P, betas, trials

    Your running windows VISTA 64BIT

Are you running windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit, with DEP/ Data Execution Prevention Enabled?

IF Not, this is why you do not have the issue.

And I built this pc from scratch, I used to play EVE online in windows xp, then I upgraded to vista Ultimate 64 with DEP Enabled, and it has the issue, it is their software, because every time it closes it it tells me why, I have all the latest drivers, and everything, and all my other online mmorpg's work great, just eve online, and fury online that have issues because they fail to keep their files fully up to date.

I would of posted a snap shot but I canceld my subscription to eve online untill I get a reponse from them, and i will resubscribe in the next few days or so after my skill finishes training :D, and I will try to get snap shots of the reason why the error is happening, and what my pc say's then people can see what the issue is.

    ERROR message is below

DATA EXECUTION PREVENTION HAS CLOSED CCPEXEFILE, because it is a security risk, although it is allowed through it this is what it says each time it closes the file.

now i am not sure if this would work or has anything to do with your problems but i have windows vista 32-bit home premiume and i had problems running the launcher for lord of the rings online but all i had to do is turn the UAC security option off so maybe you could try that? sorry if its nothing to do with the problems.

    - You enable Data Execution Prevention, a rigorous security measure employed by Microsoft

    - Eve Online gets blocked by the said security measure because DEP thinks it's going to do bad things in the internets.

What, exactly, would you propose CCP does about being blocked by Microsoft's security measure? And why not turn off DEP so it doesn't block Eve?

Those where rhetorical questions, don't bother answering.

i hate to break this to you, but FURY is a bust. they gone bankrupt , and game is running ona micro payment scheme, prob by someone who bought it cheap, to run as is and pull few bucks till no ones left to play it.

i think it was 12 mill that devs borrowed for it, and its broken some aussie game dev company. i really doubt you will see any more updates for this one. unless the micro payments make enough to actually bother hiring some programing staff.

Windows Vista is that give you the problem not the games. You can play with all that protections of Vista ( what suck a lot) and I want to play without Windows at games and don´t work LOL.

Windows suck and Vista suck a lot more. The only reason all we have windows is becouse is easiest to play games, no other reason.

Don´t be a babycray more man and set off the Windows stupid protections.

Someone should print this out in golden paper, and put it in a nice frame, for the legend that these words are.

Oh wait, I didn't understand 2 words of what you said. If people like you, who cannot put together a sentence, are the people bashing Windows Vista. I can see why you have a problem.

I have to say I disagree with all the Vista bashing, which everyone seems to enjoy alongside WoW bashing.

I run both EVE and LotR perfectly well on Vista 64bit...

Before you start flaming Fury, try learning how Vista works. ;) With Vista, Windows went back to their roots, creating a sort of root-access. The reason those companies didn't help you, is because they can't! There is a way to give Fury.exe the 'right' to change itself. Don't know how exactly anymore, I've quit using Vista a few months ago.

I have tried Turning off Data Execution Prevention for ccpexefile, but it sitll does it anyways, I have also tried UAC thing, still does it, therefore its something with the file  that is causing, my guess would be because it launches from one icon, into another which loads into ccpexefile, and ect, which they could correct.

As for fury, I was told when I beta tested it on vista, that it was compatable with fury, and it patched ok during beta, but after that I dont know what happend...

No vista does not suck, its great, it has already prevented a few attacks alone with just dep working and functioning properly, its just game companies that make games arent doing their jobs and slacking down.

Those who say vista suck obviously have ran out and bought a cheap computer that has vista on it, and it is not custom built with vista certified hardware that explains it all..

Anything with under 4 gigs ram, and Quad core CPU, I would not recomdend vista on personally, althoguh you can run it on a dual core on a single core well, thats your choice, but people a lot complain about lag in vista, because it uses 1 gig of ram, and yeah it might lag  if you dont got enough, and stuff.

Look at all the other mmorpg's out there that have upgraded their games to work on vista, and compare eve to them, and fury untill the patcher is fixed.

I'm curious how people get themselves into situations where their computers are attack by malicious software.

Running standard anti-virus and anti-spyware software I've never been attacked by malicious programs, so why would I even consider adding in more security to a system that isn't threatened. Surely the reason you need all that extra security is because you, the user, is doing things that are putting your computer at risk in the first place.

Keep on mind, we normally use windows vista under a false admin mode even if you think u are running Vista as admin Mode, chances are that you are not,so, key changes as the software works, will not be made,  in order to run Vista as Admin Mode you need to use run commands, u can google it, there is hundres of post at forums to help out about this matter

    LoL at the OP.

This is why i am not getting Vista right now.

Also i question what section you put the EvE petition under as for some sections they NEVER reply to. They just make it into a bugtesters report and see if they can re-produce it. Then they addit to the to-do list. Which means for minor bugs like yours [and it is minor as this is the first time ive seen a Vista user have this problem in EvE] it can take a month or so to fix assuming the bug isant on your end [i.e. your computer].

I am truly frightened that you can blame a games developer for the way an Operating System has been designed.

Just do what most gamers do and play on Windows XP until the game developers or the world in general catch up with Vista. They did this with Windows 95, and Windows 2000 and WIndows XP I don't understand why people scream blue murder when a game that was created years ago has some problems running on a brand new operating system.

Sheesh get a grip man, game developers have plenty more to worry about than pleasing a minority of people who play on Vista 64

But since other people play Eve fine on their Vista 64 I am more inclined to think its User Error not machine error

Gotta totally agree here. I been online gaming for over 10 years. N on the internet for about 14 years. In that time I have had six different computers. And in that time I have had two viruses. Vista security is overkill, made for people not smart enouph to run a computer and expect everyone else to take care of them. If you wanna play games without problems...go back to XP, save yourself alot of time n trouble.

Give Vista a more time to work out the bugs. Or till Micro$oft comes out with XP 2008

Vista is a very nice operating system, but atm, it just doesn't have the support it needs, it's still too new. Use a dual boot system if you must have Vista :D

By "rigorous" I mean it's a big measure. I never commented on the actual effectiveness of completely blocking executables that attempt to access secure parts of one's system.

Ahh gotta love modern day security software. Keeps you safe by basically keeping you from doing anything.

Turn DEP OFF. Not off for the specific app, not allowing the specific app, OFF. Kill it. Turn the switch make the light go red. STOP USING IT COMPLETELY.

Perhaps that will get through to you.

Vista is borked. I have tried it 3 times since release, and wont be touching it again till the Service pack. It runs like a mule and is a major resource hog regardless of system specs.

While vista does have some nice neat features like areo and the search functions, Ill take xp's stability and good performance over it any day.
