Hey, we've been playing World of Warcraft a little while now.
And I'm curious if they are any other games out there that can be good? I like the idea of housing but also a game with good character creation, I mean in Star Wars Galaxies, characters there no pretteh...
Cheers

actually SWG is one of the best character creation and customization (in game and out) games you can get. its character models are VERY well done and are much easier to tolerate then the EQ2/Vanguard plasticized characters.
perfect world has incredibly detailed character creation, but after that it's pretty much typical armor by level. the CoX games also have amazing character creation, but there's pretty much no in game customization after that.

I actually like Perfect World because of it's character creation. I've gotten some pretty funny screenshots whilst creating characters (you can screw around with it so much). But obviously, you can pay for a game. Anyways, why quit WoW? WoW isn't too bad...
If you want a true MMORPG, I would recommend Perfect World. On the other hand, if you are primarily looking for a robust character creation system along with decent player housing features, you may want to look at Phantasy Star Universe. Be forewarned, however, that PSU plays like the PvE side of Guild Wars. Personally, I enjoy the game, although it may not satisfy the hardcore players. Also, an expansion was recently released for PSU, which has really added a great deal of content to the game.
I take it you don't like the appearances of the SWG characters? Well, I'm with you on that one, but if you want a persistent world based MMO, I still say that's your best choice out of the subscription based games, which is difficult for me to say since I'm not a fan of the NGE. LotRO has player housing now, but not much variety when it comes to character customization. Pirates of the Burning Sea also has great character customization, but it lacks housing.
I recomend you to try out the games with free trial. EQ2, Lotro, SWG, both have a free trial and housing system. About housing system:
EQ2, instanced housing, you can place the furniture you want, in the place you want in very easy process with your mouse, furniture has no use.
SWG, houses are in the world, you can place furniture the place you want but with commands, not with your mouse, furniture is useable. Sit on chairs, store things on chest and armoires.
Lotro, neightborhood is instanced, you can't place furniture where you wan't, you buy styles of decorations (if im not wrong, please correct me if so) and furniture is fixed to the place it appears. dont no if you can use furniture.
If you've already played WoW, I would consider taking a look at CoH. The customization is top notch. They've added alot of other customization, and you can get alternate costumes, go to the tailors at any time and change how you look, not to mention you get other things like capes, weapong upgrades, wings, and so on as you increase in level.
The gameplay is really solid too, and the powersets are fun to toy around with. My girlfriend isn't a gamer (other then old school nintendo and Wii, she rocks it at mario kart) but she hates computer games with a passion. She still spent almost an hour just playing with the character cutomization screen.
Granted she wouldn't play it, she likes making the outfits.
Housing isn't really there in CoX, I mean you can get a base and run it, but it's expensive and you have to be really active, or join a group thats really active to use their base.
Other then that though, the game is worth the price.
We try'd Everquest 2, Star Wars Galaxies, Lord of the Rings Online.
We didn't like them at all, they had very poor quality.
Don't like PvP at all, enjoy PvE most!
Well, I don't know if you plan on primarily grouping or playing as a duo, but if you like group content, maybe you should try FFXI. While it doesn't contain much in the way of character customization, the characters do look good and the game does include player housing. Also, in a recent update housing was modified so that you can bring other players into your house now. But keep in mind that FFXI is a grinding game.
Honestly, if you found EQ2 and LotRO to be of "low quality," and since you loathe PvP, I really don't know if there's much that would satisfy you. Stay away from free-to-play games, however, because they aren't nearly as polished as EQ2. You may need to lower your standards a bit; remember that most MMORPGs do have similar features. Yes, there are those rare gems that truly stand out from the crowd such as EVE Online and the pre-CU SWG (In terms of unique PvP), but I personally feel that EQ2 is the king of PvE games as far as content is concerned.
The last recommendation I will make is Guild Wars. It does provide players with a rich, story-based PvE experience in spite of the fact that it's a PvP game. It's polished and casual-friendly along with having good looking character models. You can play as a duo in this game as well. You can even try it for free if you go to File Planet.
