Go check out my thread on 'The Giant Misconception of EVE-Online' if you want some more of people's opinions on the game. I guess if I had to say something short to tell you what it's like, I'd say it's very slow and realistic, but incredibly rewarding to play. Have fun in EVE, and remember to find a friendly corporation that can help you out, without making you slave-mine.

EVE is very fun image  I agree with what tck said in that it can be slow, in the sense that the skills take time to train etc but I think that is one of it's best qaulities, after all who wants a game where u can walk in, complete it then leave within a few months? I for one am personally sick of that. In terms of lagg, I use a 56k modem atm and will soon be upgrading to broadband but it is perfectly fast with 56k except maybe in very few circumstances where ur caught in a system with maybe 200 other people, which btw does not happen very often with 5000 systems. EVE online 10/10. imageimageimageimageimageimage

    I absolutly LOVE EVE!

I have been playing about 2 months, and I play at least 2-3 hours a day. It was a slow to begin with, ut my advice is to join a PLayer corporation as soon as possible, and It is then that the maximum game experiance kicks in. I know there has been critisisms that the skill system is slow and can be tedious, but lets face it, With all MMORPG's you are paying monthly, so you dont want a fgame where you are going to reack all your maximum limits in a weeks worth of play.

My advice, is, dwnload the game, log in, and prepare to kiss goodbye to your social life. And anyway, with a gaming community as good as the EVE comunity, you will get a new social life anyway.

    See you on the spaceways.

After playing a number of mmorpgs before and after I started playing EVE, there isn't a game I could recommend more.

It has no xp grinding, you can choose what you like about the game and you can go for it without first spending weeks and weeks first building up your character in order to get into the content.

Where in every other game a newbie character is useless in the game, a newbie in EVE flying a frigate is actually valuable in PvP, for instance.

One thing that isn't apparently very interesting to most, is also that there isn't a game out there that'd support the RPG part of MMORPG more than EVE. In most MMORPGs, you first killing mobs for xp or raiding some boss monsters, which in most games is completely separate activity from the world and the character.

In EVE, you wont run into anything that'd seriously try your suspension of disbelief, and you can incorporate anything you run into, from NPC pirates, mining for work, running some courier missions, fighting corporate wars, running blockades through PC pirates to actually going pirate yourself into the game. Many games have impressive background stories and they look lively enough, but EVE is the first that actually feels like a consistent, existing world of its own, and your characters fits there, seamlessly.

As with most games that involve groups of players playing with/against eachother the notion of having fun is directly linked to the group you play with and those you play against.

Joining the right corporation or group of corporations is issential to enjoying EVE, so put all your effort into hooking up with the right people.

    • People who play when you play (same timezone)

    • People who respect eachother as gamers but allow for each to play his/her own style

    • People who are willing to help you and expect help from you

    • People who communicate, socialize and dont allways "run off and do their own thing"

I would have to agree. After playing SWGimage this game is like a godsend.  I can do anything I feel like and the magnitude of the game is great.  There is so much to do that I don't think you can get bored especially if your in a good corp.  I still occasionally play CoH when I want to take a break but the most in depth mmorpg has got to be Eve.  I mean where else can you train your skills when your offline? Little steep learning curve but there is plenty of help out there.  Has to be one of the best community I have found in an online game in awhile.

I agree with all the above posts. It's a great game and right now n00bs are not bad at all. I've been testing a lot of other games lately and done about every free trial I could find and also bought a few games and in all of them my character is useless until after a month of grinding. In EVE you can start slowly and make a little cash and in a week (if you train the correct skills) you will be a PvP fighter that can do a lot of good in a battle with players that have been in the game from the start. I think that is a great quality in a game especially if you're thinking about buying it.

I for example made a trial account here at MMORPG.com the other day and before my 14 day trial ran out I had killed 4 cruisers in my little frigate. (cruisers are about 10x bigger and cost about 10-20 times what a frigate does).

Been playing the game for 18 months and I learn new things every day and I love the game more each time I log on. Best MMORPG EVEr :)

I would have to agree EvE is an extremely well developed and though of MMORPG.

I have been playing for 4 days now and have 2 ships (a fighter and a miner). Right now I'm working on a Industrial ship with 5k cargo to mine with my friend who will soon get a Cruiser with 4 lasers (uber cash). Only 4 more days to complete my training.

Then I will go to a Cruiser and do some pirate hunting then become a pirate myself.
