A little reserach will reveal that DEP breaks a lot of random crap. I'd suggest disabling it if you can, or downgrading back to XP or a lesser version of Vista 64-bit (I use Home Premium 64-bit and have no problems)
Also you can try this:
To disable this for programs that require it disabled, go to the "System" properties, "Advanced" tab, click the "Settings" button in the "Performance" area of the screen, then select the "Data Execution Prevention" tab.
Vista IS Great PERIOID, Those who cannot run vista, and cant stand it, well its not my problem you are an unskilled user, or have bought a premade vista pc that sucks. I myself have built my own vista pc, and it works very great, 100% no issues at all that everyone keeps complaining about...
The issue is the gaming companies, and software companies out there refuse to fix the compatability issues with their games, and software that is not vista compatable. Now they do not have to fix this issue, but in the future the game will die if they do not.
Ive called microsoft, and confirmed that MICROSOFT has provided all the software companies/gaming companies with the SDK kits for patching their software to work with Disable dep, and enableing it through firewall, and ect, but after they do their part it is up to the software producer of the game, or program to do so.
No I will not DISABLE my DEP for everything, only certain things like eve online, although it is possible, this is a very good feature on vista, it has saved me 3 times already from hackers just going to websites, and they tried to run software on to my pc, it closed it.
No I will not disable my UAC, it is a great feature.
I have no problems with the following games...
World OF Warcraft, LINEAGE 2, GUILD WARS, NEOCRON 2, Last Chaos, 9 DRAGONS, 2 Moons, Dungeons & Dragons Online STORM REACH,STEAM, FINAL FANTASY XI, ECT.
I can play all of these and many more on vista with no issues.
This proves that the companies such as AURAN GAMES, FURY ONLINE, and EVE ONLINE Refuse to fix their software to work with windows vista, Hey I cant make them, but if they dont they will loose customers in the future...
Set DEP to work for windows applications and services only. I don't see the problem here. It has to be the computer, because DEP has never interfered with anything i've EVER come across.
How do you even know EVE is certified for DEP? Go to the task manager and configure the columns to show the DEP. If it says Enabled next to the EVE process then it is possibly the problem. If it's disabled then that's not the game. It's something wrong with your system.
Here's some information for you. Google is your friend!
Just disable the damn thing ENTIRELY. No clicking the option off in windows -DOES NOT TURN IT OFF- you must edit the boot.ini, which vista no longer uses. So go to that link and figure out how to remove it. If the link isn't enough then google some more.
DEP is an unnecessary resource waster. You don't need it. Just get rid of the pile of garbage. It's just another stupid windows "feature" that windows thinks we need to have.
You know what protects me from viruses and security threats? an updated avast. kkthx bye DEP.

Nobody with a clue is using Windows Vista right now. Microsoft has taken a stance of bullying people into paying their "tax" by releasing a broken OS and then locking people out of the old OS. I know I certainly won't be paying hundreds of dollars to have my computer violated by Vista, so I'll stick with my XP install until my key stops working, and then I'll switch to Ubuntu or Fedora Linux.
If you think Vista is "great PERIOD" then you deserve what you get.
On a side note, why do you want to play EVE, anyways? It's pretty obvious to me that you won't last 5 seconds there with your "everyone is a retard except for me" attitude. That's a good way to get your ass kicked real quickly.
Vista is to gaming what a Pinto is to drag racing.
I take it you've never used Vista.
Running it fine with MUCH improved performance in all games and apps.
Thanks for posting your nonsense.
Not being able to afford a Vista UPGRADE is no reason to knock it.
Don't bother making a remark like this. Benchmarks have been ran by several professional PC hardware specialists. Who of which i'm 100% POSITIVE have better experience then you at computers. Vista has showed lower performance in all marks with same spec PC tests.
It's FACT. Not opinion or speculation.
What's your rig? If you're running top notch hardware then you most likely won't see a damn bit of difference OBVIOUSLY, but that same rig will perform better in XP pro then compared to vista.
If Vista is running better for you then you clearly didn't have XP setup properly or you probably gummed it up with to many trojan infested pr0n vids.

I have to agree with spikenog. VISTA imo is a much better operating system. I get much better response time and such from games and the multimedia experience is 100x better with VISTA. I don't really know where you got your intel from either. Eve has said that THEY screwed up, not microsoft. You can not expect an operating system to revolve around 1,000,000 games on the market right now. It is the games responsibility, if they want to keep the game in production, to patch the game to work with the new OS's coming out. Not the other way around. I find that my VISTA works well with all other games I play, including older ones. I have had to download stuff for the game but that was to be expected from ME. This is just a serious case of Aethios being a MICROSOFT hater instead of focusing on being the respective gaming company hater.

I take it anyone who doesn't post a glowing review of Vista get the same response from you, correct? And do you have access to my financial records? For all you know, I could buy and sell you. Why don't you stick with "nyaa nyaa na nyaa nyaa".
I build my own comps, I don't buy them. I bought and installed Vista. I uninstalled it and upgraded back to XP. Vista is an overbloated resource hog and does not have anywhere near full compatibility with all hardware, new or old. And XP SP3 gives me the same security as Vista, without something nagging me every time I want to do something. Vista is great for users who can't be left alone on the internet without attracting viruses while they browse the internet or maybe play Pogo. People who know what they're doing do it with XP.
Furthermore, Vista adds nothing to gaming, period. DX10? Please. Yeah, I see games just pouring out supporting DX10 without DX9 support. The only reason DX10 was cancelled for XP ( it was supposed to be added in SP3 )was to force naive gamers into buying the new OS. And it will be added to XP, officially or not. Case you haven't looked around, XP still outsells Vista. I'm betting there's a reason for that.

Look, I'm not here just to rant about how "evil" Microsoft is, I just want to point out how bad Vista really is. I don't like CCP any more than... well I was going to say Microsoft but that would be an insult to CCP. They aren't perfect, and I never said they were. Far from it. However, it still remains that Vista is easily one of the worst Operating Systems ever developed, and its uptake has been at a snail's pace due to the problems they are having with it. From what I've heard, the Service Pack does pretty much nothing to solve these issues as well.
All of this is also completely ignoring the fact that Microsoft seems to think it's okay to simply turn off your digital media in the name of "copyright." I even read one story where a guy was unable to download his own W-9 form from the IRS because Vista had decided that it was a "protected file" and he was doing something wrong. It's not my computer's job to decide when to protect me, and that's exactly what the DEP was designed for.

There always a few lost souls out there somewhere, beating there heads up against a wall
To the OP, if you are so "good" at building your own PC, it should not be that hard to fix this problem right?
If you had been smarter, you would have installed a dual boot on your system. 1 for XP and 1 for Vista 64 bit.
Because vista DOES break a whole lot of software.
However, there are solutions, like running as true Admin and disabling DEP.
If you dont want to play EVE Online, fine, don't, but the problem is you, not CCP ( at least in this case ).

I'd have to agree with this post completely, the fault atm appears to lie with the OP and his refusal to take workaround steps that appear to work for other people.
Bug fixing is based on the numbers. One person calls in with a problem, ticket written up, worked on whenever there is some time. 1000 people call with same problem, and up goes the priority.
Truth is, some PCs cannot run a certain application due to the way they are configured, and game companies accept those numbers.
OP happens to fall into this category atm and not much he can do to get them to change it, except cancel as he did.
Who the hell are you, and why should I care? Congrats! You are a victim of Trollstar!
I'm running EVE on 64 bit Vista without any problems at all, I would say your issue is somewhere between the keyboard and the chair.
I actually lol'd
After reading the rest of the posts I actually also agreed. Why the hell would someone try everything possible to make a game not work (enable some nasty ass security features) and then cry to the devs of the said game? Why not just try everything to MAKE the game work, and be satisified that CCP isn't going to download satan onto your mother's computer so that they may be wed and the anti-christ born?
Turn DEP off. It's not CCP's fault that MS implemented a craptacular security "feature" (bug ridden piece of crap is more accurate) which kills many games, especially online ones. It's not just a game killer it also causes a huge hit to system performance and is 100% completely and totally un-needed by the average user.
Frankly if you really NEED DEP turned on then you have no business playing video games on that system anyway.
Learn a little about the technology you're using before bashing a game company for refusing to support it.
"A ship-of-war is the best ambassador." - Oliver Cromwell
- You enable Data Execution Prevention, a rigorous security measure employed by Microsoft
- Eve Online gets blocked by the said security measure because DEP thinks it's going to do bad things in the internets. What, exactly, would you propose CCP does about being blocked by Microsoft's security measure? And why not turn off DEP so it doesn't block Eve? Those where rhetorical questions, don't bother answering. I have tried Turning off Data Execution Prevention for ccpexefile, but it sitll does it anyways, I have also tried UAC thing, still does it, therefore its something with the file that is causing, my guess would be because it launches from one icon, into another which loads into ccpexefile, and ect, which they could correct.
As for fury, I was told when I beta tested it on vista, that it was compatable with fury, and it patched ok during beta, but after that I dont know what happend... No vista does not suck, its great, it has already prevented a few attacks alone with just dep working and functioning properly, its just game companies that make games arent doing their jobs and slacking down. Those who say vista suck obviously have ran out and bought a cheap computer that has vista on it, and it is not custom built with vista certified hardware that explains it all.. Anything with under 4 gigs ram, and Quad core CPU, I would not recomdend vista on personally, althoguh you can run it on a dual core on a single core well, thats your choice, but people a lot complain about lag in vista, because it uses 1 gig of ram, and yeah it might lag if you dont got enough, and stuff. Look at all the other mmorpg's out there that have upgraded their games to work on vista, and compare eve to them, and fury untill the patcher is fixed.
Are you crazy? Do I need to throw my current hardware and buy NEW one (if it even exists since a LOT of hardware still is not supported by vista) just so that I can run an over-bloated inbred bastard Vista is? What are you, mini Bill Gates?
FYI: You dont need DEP to protect your computer. One of the reasons why people get infected by trojans is becuase they open emails with a "IncreasePenisSizegiantSchlong" as its subject AND they are using MS (thats Microsoft) Outlook that will quietly run whatever nasty attachment is there.
Dont use Outlook, dont use Internet Explorer, dont use Windows (if you can). Use your browser to read emails (firefox2) and to browse inet, use a good firewall (Sygate, outdated yet functional) and supplement it with anti-virus program. However, all that is for nothing if you dont use your common sense and open attachments of funny emails or browse through dangerous/illegal sites.
Vista is completely pointless from the user perspective. Instead of spending all those billions on making Vista, MS should of spent it on fixing XP or if they want to save money, make it open source so that others would fix it for them.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

Nothing to do with the price when you can get the OEM version for £70. Vista is bugged and its performance makes it slower than XP.

However, all that is for nothing if you dont use your common sense and open attachments of funny emails or browse through dangerous/illegal sites.
