Why such bad hype?

Enigma225Enigma225 Member Posts: 30

So far what seems to be the big problem to me is that people are getting restless of the neglect of updates or posts from any devs or anything of that nature. I think people just need to understand that all games take time and this game for sure will need alot of time to come out as close to a perfect incarnation of the matrix style fighting and shooting. I know that people give it such bad hype because ot the 2 crapiful movie sequels that have came out. People were left with a bad taste in there mouth and I think all that bad hype is carrying over into this great mmorpg game. I play City of Heroes all the time and to think that matrix will definately have a much more rich environment I cant even begin to imagine how a game like MEO could have a higher hype even though it only has 4 screenshots which in my opinion are total crap. This game is chugging along well and it seems it should be done around november or december. People need to realize the full potential of this game. Later.

    One word: Fanboys.

You have to understand that the hype meter is quite biased. The majority of peolpe that rate The Matrix Online low, don't even know anything about the game except for the fact that it's the matrix.

Oh, and in my humble opinion, the sequels were very well done and definitely worth the wait.

On a side note, MEO will probably end-up good enough to appeal to the die-hard Tolkien fans, but I'm confident that The Matrix Online will be more succesful. I mean, we already have a ton of fantasy MMO's being released, do we really need another?

  • image your maad the more fantasy/sci-fi based games the beter. THE MATRIX ONLINEimage will bering a new type of mmorpg that we havet see for a long time. but it will only appel 2 die hard matrix fans.

"crapiful"...is that even a word?  Nope it's not.

I do think people are giving it a bad rap for exactly the reasons you all have stated plus more.  IMHO, I thought that both sequels were excellent.

    There's die hard matrix fans?

I agree, fanboys can be very dangerous... especially in large numbers... especially if uninformed... all this has occured in this case...

i dont see this game being any lesser than COH. So that right there is a good start. Then throw in the story driven unique missions, and crafting, and it will defenitly be better. Not saying this game will rock, but i dont see this game sucking.

Has any one else noticed how little information they have given us for a game that is coming out in less than two months?

while i would love more information regarding mxo, there is some wisdom in being tight-lipped regarding aspects that are not carved in stone. it's a very effective method of eliminating rumors about the inner workings of the game. it also increases anticipation and desire for more info. You have to remember one of the cardinal rules 'always keep them wanting more'.

i loved the sequels btw. the second movie is my favorite.

Consider myself in the club of the "diehard fans". I love the whole saga, and I wish Monolith the best for the future of Matrix Online!

    Sorry, count me out!
I didn't like the story line for the Sequel for the Matrix.
But I did buy the game to get more Story lines because this is taking part after "You know What happend."

This game title looks to continue the Matrix storyline right where Revolutions left off.

Some folks get it, others don't.

I think this game is being made at the wrong time. I don't blame them, because this was announced (I believe) before Matrix Reloaded. When Matrix Revolutions came out, I remember all my friends absolutely hating it and getting turned away from the matrix from then on. That steered me away from seeing it in the movie theatre. I never actually saw it until it came out on dvd, and when I asked if anyone saw that matrix online video on it, they were like "why would any one want to look into matrix revolutions?" Also, this kid at my school that is absolutely in love with the movies never got around to buying the matrix revolutions. Whenever I tell some one that matrix online leaves off from matrix revolutions, they go like "that sucks." And it has been so long since anything matrix related has come out, people have already started to forget about the matrix. Well, at least not think about it as muchimage

Oh, and hiya seroasha, how is matrix online beta going for youimage

I am a greater fan of the Lord of The Rings movies than the Matrix movies.  However I do not want to play a Middle Earth game.  I would rather play Matrix.  I think that the reason this games hype level is so low is because people do not know what to expect.  We have been told that this game will be groundbreaking, but they are extremely tight lipped on just how that will be.  We are less than 2 months from release and we still do not have any info from the Beta.

I have never played a large MMO before, but this game has appealed to me.  I think it will appeal to more people than the dire hard Matrix fans.  We will have to wait and see.

According to the video footage from PAX, the MxO development team has only released screenshots from the earlier versions. The GUI (Game's User Interface) is alot better than the one we have seen in some of the screenshots, that were in fact taken at the Alpha stage.

Just thought I'd let y'all know!
