About GuildWars

I played the Demo back during the E3 craze and I have to say that I didnt like it at all lol.  Now, I'm sorta scared saying this as so many of you guys love the game.

I know it was only a beta and I know they started us at level 15 but there was nothing I liked about it. I dont know...am I the only one who really don't care for Guild Wars?  If I am then ill keep my comments to myself lol

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

  • It's just a matter of taste...what didn't you like about GW?  Can you be more specific on the parts of everything you didn't like O_o?

I didn't really like it at all either.  It seemed like they were kind of taking Diablo 2 and making is KIND of like an MMO.  I don't see how people can even call GW an mmo. MMO's don't restrict you to instanced play-fields on your own, or with 3 other players.

Maybe it will change at release, but with no subscription fee I feel they are just using the MMO genre to sell their product.

Yer not the only one. Everytime people start wetting themselves about this game, I just get more skeptical about it. It was an alpha. The fact that people act like Jesus is returning to Earth everytime they say "Guild Wars" just makes me think it's gonna be another Galaxies. Insane people become fanbois for a game they haven't played, then squealing with rage at all their wasted time hyping it for free.

I've only seen insane fanbois squealing with rage on WoW vs. EQ2 threads.

There are some persistant areas. And gameplay is not restricted to "3 other players" as you put it, there will be massive castle sieges and guild vs guild battling.

I read a book once. Through the cunning use of an early prototype time machine, GW was developed before the invention of computers, and when it's released will cause the second coming of Jesus.

Guild Wars is for competitive people, not for bstrds who grind and mess with n00bs. And its great with the social features.

Why playing a mmorpg if you play solo? That reminds me a good comic.......

    1-hey whats that?

2- hey wake up! its the modern genre of games! its a massively multiplayer online game, where you can meet people

    1-And why are you alone?

2- What? No way i will be sharing loot with strange people

    D´uh

This game looks cool, i played it on Alpha

  • In more of a post about GW...

I have looked at GW (I didn't play the alpha) and it looks very promising.  They have lots of cool and unique ideas, and I can tell from a developer interview that the lead developer (or whoever it was that was talking) was very familiar with current MMORPGs and listed several unfun scenarios from different MMOs, and it takes the realization of unfun flaws in order to avoid them.

Yes I noticed it's a little Diabloesque (I don't really like Diablo), but there are very noticeable differences that have a big impact on gameplay.  In Diablo is all for one, lie cheat and steal to get whatever you can, high level people PvP grief lower player's servers.  In GW there's the aspect of a TEAM, no one can just quit the team and go "HAHAHAH jk noobs!!!!!!!!  I gonna pwn j00!" and then slaughter the whole team.  So far (undoubtedly they will add more) PvP encounters are controlled 8v8 or 8v8v8 (was hinted) where it's team against team, no uberite can pop in and slaughter both teams.

In Diablo, there was no level cap (or at least it wasn't low enough, I think the level cap was when your level rolled over to 0 or 1, which would never happen unless you were cheating), but in GW there is planned marked level that your HP and MP reach their base max and further levels will only improve on your skills.

Diablo and most MMORPGs have static content and maybe some boring dynamic content.  GW will feature that streaming technology stuff they keep going on about, patching exploits without a huge server restart and "okay, everyone log out and download the new patch."  Fixes and updates and new content can be given seamlessly.

I could go on and on probably, but that's enough for me to want to play GW IMO ;p

But like I said in my hype on Guild Wars,  they have really good IDEAS, I want to see if they can pull these ideas off or turn into another SWG of broken promises, but so far GW looks a lot more promising.
