Um...yes the game will be great (sarcasm) You are not actaully serious are you???

First of all its a move being made into a game , 90% of movies that turn into games are crap and its an MMORPG which makes the situation even worse.

Second of all its the Matrix....Online...image

And last but most certainly not least... its the Matrix...Online imageimageimageimageimage

Ok Ok just kidding (sarcasm)  We'll just have to see how it turns out. Although i wouldnt be suprised if it got canceled considering its going up against some nasty competitors

The video of combat seemed pretty cool. Nice martial arts animations and character customization so far.

    What i like about MxO

    -Kung-fu moves

    -Bullet time

-Plots created by the Wachowski brothers

-Special events, missions and monthly story cinematics

-Players can tap into sources of information in the game to create or steal code fragments

Information replaces money in this game

    3 classes (for now)

    Hacker, Spy and Soldier

    Game will suck. Reasons.

    1. Kung-fu fighting. Except it isnt. Its press #1. And let it do all the crap for you. Press #2. Let it do all the crap for you. Etc. Repeat.

    2. Bullet time? How in the bloody ell can this work? Its like having timestop in a D&D MMRPG. You cant slow down or stop the whole world. Because if in that case. It'd always be stopped or slowed down!

    3. Most likely it'll just horridly suck not for just the above reasons. But its a title game. Using popular title, think StarWars, put it into a game. And what do you got? The bastard child that is, and will be like, Star Wars Galaxies.

#1. you just described every mmorpg i know.

#2. its a localized bullet time effect, it doesnt effect the whole world, just a small localized area.

#3. star wars galaxies is a great game, it turned out to be very good and with the new jump to lightspeed expansion, it will be even better.

    1) cos they are all crap

    2) how the hell can that work? what if 2 people are attacking a single mob? does one see the mob move real fast and the other one see it move slow? Or when you select bullet time does the other guy get blown out of your bullet time radius?

    3) SWG may be a good game, i personally liked it, but its still not what i hoped for. In SWG you will never be luke skywalker, Darth Vader or the Emporer. And in MxO you will never be the one. This game will probably focus purely on combat and nice flips etc, but overall i imagine it will be a dissapointment (see any matrix sequel).

    2) Here's how it works, imagine someone activates bullet time, then within a certain radius everyone with that area is affected. Now i imagine bullet time can only be used during combat, so you cant just go up to a crowd of people and grief them by keeping bullet time on.

And that would piss people off when you activate bullet time when they dont want it.

People as a whole do not like having things done to them beyond their control, therefore something like this would annoy people.

It would also make the game too easy because with a big enough group you could theoretically have permanent bullet time when in combat and thus could kill anything or anyone.

I havent read up on it and am not saying they havent included it, but to me it sounds a stupid idea.

i dont think its as easy as that, you make it sound like bullet time is just a toggle switch you can turn on and off. i believe there are certain situations and perameters in which you can activate bullet time so it doesnt grief others.  Say for example you can only use it when you are fighting another enemy, i dont think that it would be much of a problem mainly because im pretty sure that enemies will be pretty spread out, so you dont just have one giant perpetual bullet time field.

Hope i dont seem to be picking on you here Shadoken by the way, i just dont quite inderstand it. I am at work and i wont let me onto any site which has anything to do with MxO for some reason so i cant even read about it lol.

But anyway i thought bullet time was a toggle, ie; its either normal time or bullet time? And i know it would only be effective in PvE (dont know if the game even has PvP), but i was just thinking about the 2 onto 1 mob situation and if the 2nd player didnt want bullet time when you activated it. he would be annoyed probably, and these days would winge, but in a few years the rate things i going could well sue lol.

Also if there was some kinda boss, or large group of mobs and you had a group of 10 people you would be able to keep in permanent bullet time, i imagine it would be on a recharge timer or you would need energy to activate it. But player 1 uses his, then when it runs out player 2 uses his, etc etc until player 10's runs out when player 1 will be able to go again.

It works well in single player games, but anything to alter 'time' in a multiplayer game has a whole load of challenges to overcome.

Bullet time imo, is impossible to properly work in online games. Which is why I think something like Max-Payne will NEVER have a multi-player aspect to it.

I think bullet time is for solo.

I don´t care about bullet time, what i care are the features.

Information will replace money. There are 3 factions, and 3 different classes.

Theres going to be story plots written by the Wachowski brothers, events and story cinematics monthly.

BTW, who wants to play a gay elf when you can play a hacker, spy or soldier "kung-fu"?

And it's the Wachowski brother, and sister now, if you please. Larry is now(or soon will be) Linda Wachowski.

The bullet time, I'm sure, is a limited use thing. combat only, your 'bullet time 'o' meter' has to be full, etc.
And even if some 'tard fires it off at the wrong time, how can that be anymore annoying than the dipshit wizzy that starts nuking before tanks have aggro, or the healer that never heals because they're to busy trying to nuke, or constantly afk? I could probably go on forever here, but I think you get the point.

I'll give the game a whirl if it has an open beta, but I'm not expecting great things, which is a shame, because I'm real damn tired of fruity elves and dwarves. The genre needs some more scifi, or anything other than another D&D knockoff.

Please read up on MxO before you post. The way bullet time works in MxO is all an illusion in a sense. The player who does bullet time sees himself and the enemy he is fighting slow down and enter that sense of view. Everyone else in the game sees the player who did the bullet time speed up just like in the movie when the agents were being shot at. That whole view of blurring motion. The animation time for both bullet time for the player and the blur motion seen by everyone else will be equal so nothing is disrupted. If you would like to see the interview done about this go http://www.games-fusion.net/content/000471.php

actually that sounds interesting.. but I don't really want to see an interview about it, i'd rather see a demo of it. image

How can you say that combat video is good? The first couple attacks by the agent (im talking about the one IGN posted im sure its on a couple more sites too) are all repeated, not to mention its so clunky looking. Making combat look good wont make up for bad gameplay either way, its going to turn out just like enter the matrix, all hyped but it turns out to be garbage.

I'd have to concur, the IGN combat video made the combat look slow, and clunky, in a complete contrast to the "In your hands' video, I think it was the E3 video, which had combat which looked like something out of Tekken 4 with Matrix skins.

At the end of the combat video, when the chick runs off, I thought I was looking at a CoH video for a bit.

It can be found here if you're into pain.
