WoW, why are we comparing this to WoW?

FutballerFutballer Member Posts: 19

People consistently compare Fury to WoW.  How can you compare a game based solely on PvP vs a game that has established itself as one of the greatest MMO’s to be created.  For starters, Fury is not an MMO, this has been said in a 10000000000 posts (might be over exaggerating ).  This game is not for people that spend hours grinding on mobs for countless hours of their lives hoping that you might get your piece of armor which eventually leads to, you guessed it, another piece of armor.  Fury is all about being the best you can be with what you’re given.   The only form of grinding in the game is your essence or fury points.  This allows you to slowly get used to the style of game play Fury offers.  It’s not for someone that wants to go on quests for items.  The armor artificing is unique in its own way and allows players to really create their own Frankenstein of a fighter.  The only similarity you can draw from WoW and Fury is their combat, but even that is massively different.  There is no “mana” per say but there’s a simple 4 element, 10 charge system that lets players cast spells in an orderly fashion.  You don’t simply die because you ran out of mana and you’re a casting hero.  I guess the point I’m trying to get at is to stop bashing Fury and comparing it to WoW.  Chances are, if you’re playing fury, it’s because you enjoy PvP and you’re just bored with the other PvP action from every other MMO out there.  Stop trying to add wolves and dragons, the day I have to slay a dragon in Fury, I will be playing something else.  I didn’t pick up this game on launch to earn exp points.

The reason ALL games are compared to warcraft is because it has emerged as the most popular game of all time thus making it the benchmark that people like to use .

Wow`s developers were clever in  designing a user friendly mmoprg where everyone can be a winner no matter their level of gaming experience which has guaranteed it`s massive success among millions of players. People don`t want to feel like losers when they get their ass kicked in a pvp game that requires skill and decision making so they tend to opt for the gaming experience that they wont suck at rather than one that might prove to be to difficult . In Fury , only skill determines who wins .

I totally agree.  If you're looking for the easy way out, go play a game that requires you to play from scratch and build your own legend.  If you're not looking to waste your life away grinding for endless hours on monsters that really don't offer a challenge, then Fury is your choice.  But don't compare it to WoW saying Fury is crap.  If you are one of these noobs, you're not allowed to post on this thread.  Human vs Human will always be the ultimate challenge.  That's why games like CoD and CS have gone so far.  Fury will hopefully continue to come up with new game types to keep everyone's interest.   But for the sake of keeping all the negativity away from Fury and the developers, just let Fury enjoy the little light it's somewhat taken from WoW.  All we can do is help them make the game better, but it can't be done if all we hear about it how WoW is so much better.  Take your WoW QQ's somewhere else.

    first acc post...

lets get this out of the way: i will never play wow again, i dont even like it anymore i quit 3 months ago for a total $$ of 4,560..

anyway, it doesnt look like u played wow... or at a higher level, the reason i compare it to wow sometimes that even if the box doesnt say so... there is pvp in the game, in fact a hole different road can be took to achieve gear in pvp even if the game was meant for pve. it has world pvp, 10 v 10, and other crap... i personally dont like it when people want the game to be like another game, i most likely take some poor cracks inside the furies gameplay and until they figure another way; i suggest an idea that might be like wow. i hate griding, raiding, farming, pve <--- the reason i quit.. i needed a game that only focuses on pvp.. why im here.. i almost never raid, i hate leveling, but have achieved everything in pvp.. no im not supporting wow! the pvp in there is lacking what i want to do. other than that i completely agree with what you are saying  :P.

I am just starting Fury, and it is very skill based, thats the reason i picked it up off the shelf, most mmo's, are like "whack a mole" and best stuff wins, not in this, its stunning and should be in a new genre completly, it is like CS, kinda, very pinpointed skill based action, that is finely tuned. Unlike some FPS's such as the battlefield sieries which are very clumsy. but i have only been playing for a week. i played WoW for 3 years

yea i never played WoW.  I did however play FFXI and my god that got boring as hell.  I was dumb and started off with my black mage.  Got to level 50 pretty fast and then realized I was completely useless by myself (Tarutaru mind you).  So I tried the other classes but in order to change to another class, I had to work another 6 months to get to lvl 30.  :(  needless to say, I was done with that crap.  I spent a year on a class and wasnt even lvl 75 at the cap with my artifact gear.  Not to mention the quickly aproaching Wings of The Goddess was due in the holidays.  So I quit and went back to DotA ><  It wasn't that I was bad at FF, it just sucked WAY too much of my time away.  I'd spend an entire 3 hours trying to exp to lvl 34 with no exp boosts.  This game is just totally my style.  I dont have to work hard to pwn, I just work smarter :)

People compare EVERYTHING to WoW.  Its just the way it is.  Since it has the highest subscriber base it makes the most logical common frame of reference.

    -Currently looking forward to FFXIV

-Currently playing EvE and Global Agenda

so are you insulting me because i think it's dumb to compare fury to WoW?   there really isn't a comparison, this game didn't market like blizzard did, how can you expect fury to steal their stage?   its not a mystery  that fury was suffering a lack of subscribers.  besides, the amount of feedback they get from WoW is 942384735098 times what fury is, therefore it takes time for games like this to become better. you won't find a "better than WoW"  phrase on the box.  it claims to revolutionize the pvp system, which i think it does a decent job at.  it's fairly easy to make a new build, doesn't require rediculous armor to win games, and it really doesn't take that long to get into a game.  they've improved on the things they promised, lets hope they continue to do this.

I totally agree with the first poster -- I don't understand why people compare this to wow, there is no questing or grinding. Its a very smart pvp skill based system, you get better by actually having experience good or bad and learning from it. Not just getting uber armor and become a god. People who play this game better not be sore losers cause you will get beat, but you then have to stand up and get back on the horse, cause it will totally be worth it in the end. This a harcore PvP game to build the best specced toon, both in abilties, armor and most of all your intelligence. Buttton mashing will get you nowhere!

If you were to compare this to another mmo it would be Guild Wars- but even then its not the same thing.

Get the game, its awsome :)
