I find this is a good time to go and give the free account trials a go. Also, a lot of players are finding enjoyment in going back to older games.
I wrote an article on how to find your next MMORPG on my website (Below). Fact is there are games out there, just need to work harder these days than before in finding them. Lowering expectations helps too
I had realized my fear once, but then i forgot it..
Mr. OP, i suggest you take a break and start playing good single player games (rpg or not). When i am bored of exping or camping/god fights in FFXI i simply start playing a different game or do something else ( like reading a book or playing the guitar ). I suggest FPS games unless your not a fast gamer ( in that case i suggest Americas Army, that game forces you to be slow to not die in the first minute ).
Summarized my post simply says : Bored of MMO's? Theres about 10 more genre of games to explore.
I would take a break. I have flip flopped to every MMO on that list to our left since NGE SWG was released. And I am overloaded. But on a positive note I now know what I really want out of an MMORPG in play style. It is much like music. There are soooo many bands to choose from. And right now we are lucky enough that the market is flooded with MMORPG's. But I agree -there seems to be a missing step or ladder in the MMO game design. Maybe we have evolved past the current formulas?
