Downloadign trial to DDO now, and am wondering how long it takes to reach teh level cap and if there are any goals to achieve after reaching the level cap.
They're planning on large content releases for free on a 10 week cycle (20'ish quests, level raises, crafting, new classes and races, guild housing, etc.)
However, there's several high level, large scale raids...a few really strong item grinds (collect tapestries, get a great item, etc.)...favor grind (400 opens drow, 1750 opens 32 point builds vs. 28 point builds, etc.).
Agreed, endgame for normal P&P is actually level 20 (then you go epic levels and we're not sure if we'll see that or not, I am sure it depends on population, ect.) So there really isn't an end-game per se, but yes there is raiding, lootrunning, ect. that many capped characters do. Myself, I enjoy playing around with new characters, due to the fact that each character created truely has an opportunity to be unique you can end up with some real funkey builds:)

Depends, if you rush to the cap you could probably do it pretty quickly (a couple weeks)...DON'T DO THIS.
It's missing 80%-90% of the game.
Doing it right? I'd say powergaming at 4-6 hours a day you'd hit it in like 45-60 days, normal gaming like 60-90.
Of course, the cap is also being raised again next mod...
and how's the endgame?
Well, it's not at end game
