How can we predict whether a game will have new add-ons?!
EVE Online releases extra add-ons for free, so in terms of value it's a great deal.
Haven't tried all of the games, but Lineage II (even if it has a numb grind) has shitloads of content, fortresses, castles, clan housing, a lot of craftable items, a huge world to get lost, a shitload of useless quests, some usefull ones, an incredible ammount of different mobs, even if some of them have the same textures, 3 ways of enhancing a weapon, a lot of different sets. LII sucks overally in NA/EU, but you can't really complain about content.
Lord of the Rings online could be a good choice...
Being a young game, LoTRO is not even in Top 30. It's world is really small.
I wonder who has more content - Everquest 1 or Asheron's Call. Any bets?
LotRO... Small world? I'm afraid you missed the part where you look at the map Anyway, those 2 games have a lot of content, indeed, but a very small community.... Just warning you ^^
You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up.
I would have to say Everquest 1 or EVE. Playing both I can think of the grand scale that they come with. EVE can be more massive because its always evolving so which zones you would use are always going to change. I mean what other game as its own economist on staff to follow the games trends to put out reports for the players that want to be traders.. But that is the same content being molded around. If you mean fresh new creatures zones, etc.. Then I would give that to Everquest 1 just because its a ton of expansions strong all with new mobs zones quest and so on.
Sorry, mate, but Everquest 1 with 14 large expansions and 400+ game zones beats the hell out of EQ2 in terms of content
But there is nothing to do in those zones except kill the same mobs over and over. No question EQ1 has more “places” but that’s not what the OP was asking for.

LoTRO world is smaller then in any other modern MMORPG. Like 10 zones and 2 raid instances - thats it. They are beautiful though
Go on EQ official forum and tell it's 200K players how dead it is Anyway, back to the topic.
I highly doubt that EQ has over 200,000 players since 2007. However, I do agree that EQ has a whole lot of content and most likely has more subscribers than EQ2!
Personally, it feels like I have experienced the most overall content (environment, quests, items, activities, etc.) in WoW - a bit more than EQ in quantity. With respect to the overall quality of content, I think FFXI is the best by a small margin.
EverQuest 1 definitely has the most amount of non-randomly-generated content of any MMORPG I know of. EVE does not count because it has a lot of empty space, not a lot of actual content filling it.
EverQuest 1 has 14 expansions and almost nine years of game updates, and even the original game was pretty damn big, looking back. The world is now absolutely massive. Allakhazam lists it as having 475 zones - 475! That is more zones than the average player starting now could ever realistically explore within a couple years.
Until EverQuest 1 closes up shop - who knows when - it will probably maintain this title, as it still produces content as quickly as a lot of current games. World of Warcraft is actually quite slow (though it does release a pile of free content updates that add dungeons and such) when it comes to how much raw content it pumps out, but it is typically polished.
Now, as for which game has the "best" content, that is subjective.
"Those who dislike things based only on the fact that they are popular are just as shallow and superficial as those who only like them for the same reason."
i am not sure...cuz i haven't played many games, but i think Voyage Century is a good choice, the game has a large amount of game content including quests, craftign, battle, etc.

Each individual defines content to his/hers own specification. For me, content is NOT "few but big", rather "small but many". What do I mean? EQ1 has very little content because you cant really do much there. Sure, it has a large world, but you cant do much other then fight, collect items and do a little bit of primitive crafting. There are very few quests out there in EQ1, but most of them are useless, and the ones that aren't, force you to have at least a group (usually 2-3 groups). Big world, very limited options.
IN contrast, I find Eve to have most content. It has HUGE world, bigger then EQ1. It has a lot of things to do: OK combat, awesome (and dynamic!!!) economy, private property/corporations, awesome crafting, harvesting - which may even be qualified as a content separate from manufacturing, OKeish PvP (the only reason i marked it OK and not great, is because approximately half of Eve's PvP and content is restricted to corps (extremely hard to solo since you lose everything if you get destroyed in an open PvP area)), researching, skills, items, mediocre quests (too generic and repetitive to be great in my book), politics. Compared to EQ1 (or any other current MMO), Eve has a HUGE amount of content.
The only reason Im not playing it is because I have work and real life, I play irregular days and may spend months without logging in. No corp would want a person like me, and without a good corp, you are limited to approximately half the content. If eve had single player version, id be all over it. Not worth a monthly fee with my style of play.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.
EVE doesn’t really give you much in the way of content either. PVE is essentially farming to support your PvP activities. If you like large scale player driven PvP EVE is the way to go but that didn’t sound like what the OP was asking for either.
IMO EQ2 is the closest fit for what the OP was asking. It has a massive number of quests, and lots of other things to do like collections, harvesting, crafting, harvesting, trade skills and housing. All of those could easily consume most of your time, even housing if you have the right crafting class and like to decorate. EQ2 is the only game I know of where people turn off their XP gain so they don’t skip content, which should tell you something.
ididn't know that any MMORPG got a "Endgame". Sure the tools for socialiasing in SWG are great but i wouldn't consider it as "Content".
WoW has an end game.

SWG did not have a endgame......you couls keep on playing for years. And that was just if you were a dancer......imagine a bounty hunter : ) Then you had even more shit to do...if you wanted.
SWG had almost NO content. Sure, you could keep doing the same thing over and over again if you want, just like I'm free to endlessly bang my head against the wall.
Fun Fun Fun!

Can only speak of my own experience, I have no numbers or proof.
But due to the timeline the game has been in progress I should guess EQ2 has a lead or are on top 3. Ryzom has a very deep storytelling. Unfortunate I have only a couple of weeks playtime in the game.
Most trilling game I played most be DaOC or Shadowbane. AC2 was great to, Didn't play AC or AO in their glory days, but I tried them both over a few month. Wish I came into those earlier.

I've played lots and lots (and lots, lol) of MMORPGs and my vote is for Asheron's Call. The amount of content in that game is amazing.

Btw, Candygirl, there are 40 developers working on EQ, not 8. Check this: http://www.warcry.com/articles/view/previews/1419-EverQuest-Status-Report-Look-Forward
Your mistake just shows how little you know about this game.

EverQuest (original) is the KING of content.
And bugged content that doesn't work.
