Each new book for Turbine's Lord of the Rings Online: The Shadows of Angmar takes a look at two of the game's classes for the purpose of improving and re-balancing the class. Here we present the changes that are on the horizon for the Guardian in Book 12.
The Month of the Guardian is here! Guardians are receiving attention to both their primary tanking role and secondary damage-per-second role. We hope you'll enjoy these changes and the new depth they bring to the role of the Guardian.
Already the hardiest class in Middle-earth, the Guardian is able to withstand relentless onslaughts. Capable of maintaining a high level of threat generation, only the foolish and overly aggressive dare try to outpace them. Where this class is weakest is the ability to actually kill their foes.
We do believe that Guardians perform their core tanking role well. The changes in the Month of the Guardian are largely designed to provide interesting and viable alternative playstyles for the class while addressing core concerns such as repair costs and offensive stances.

Interesting. I guess we'll see how it plays out.
The repair costs have been tolerable, but lately I''ve just been running around naked. Repair costs start to add up after awhile...
Only change I don't really like is the increase in time for deep breath: from 5/2.5 min to 15/7.5 min.. rest looks pretty interesting.

Glad they finally review the repair costs it wasnt fun the way it was. Its hard if your raiding every day of the week because inbetween you cant really get the funds to repair so i found i slowly ran out of silver.
The Dps will be good for soloing for sure. Good changes all in all.
I love the fact that they strive to keep the game updated and new content coming.
Looks good, only concern is that two handed weapons are coming into the picture...really don't want to see Guardians w/o a shield....heh in WoW I played a cleric and it was very frustrating to form a group with a "tank" and find they were setup for soloing...they were hell to heal.
Erm, I don't think you can play a Cleric in WoW. You talking about a Priest?
We already have 2h weapons btw, and the stance addition is so we can do actual damage if we aren't MT or if we are in the moors.
And no, there are no clerics in WoW. And even the PUG's in that game usually don't take a tank that isn't set up with a shield. Regardless, don't bitch about the way people choose to play their chars, either group with them or don't but let them spend their money the way they see fit. You almost sound like one of those goofs who always has to complain about other peoples specs or gear setups.

This game has a huge future IMO.

oops, yep it was a 70 priest.
I do have a 50 guardian in LotRO....also a 50 hunter...heh almost direct opposites.
I simply believe a tank should be a tank, he should totally concentrate on building his charactor on having the best taunts and being able to take a hit. I like forming a group or raid and knowing all guardians are a tank first and foremost. (Of course I don't use my Guardian in the little amount of PvP I do so don't really even look at that aspect)
It looks like the problem in WoW where you never knew if the tank was really a tank until you saw him won't be a problem in LotRO, in WoW in order to switch from solo build to tank build you had to visit a trainer and spend a lot of money to change builds...apparently in LotRO you just equipe accordingly.....so no problem as long as traits choices don't come into the picture,
I would have preferred an increase in DPS while using a shield than requireing a switch to two-hander to do decent damage....I mean look at champions, they do great DPS and are a fairly decent tank...I just want great tanking and fairly decent DPS for the guardian.
Actually, the main thing I want for my guardian is better taunt, seems it is getting harder to hold agro after he hit 50 ...the dps classes and the healer seem to grab agro easier now.
I have never played with LOTRO, but I am curious abaut how the game works, And the real world of LOTR how appear in the game. The integrity of the world changed or not. How did they follow Tolkien's directivs abaut Middle-earth.(because I am LOTR fun)
Thx
Id like it if you could "holster" your shield so your not running around like its surgically grafted to your arm...
