Hey all I know I dont jump out much but I had this on my mind and thought "I wonder if anyone else has thought the same thing". What happened to MMORPG's that kept the player griped to thier screens and constantly haveing fun. Sure everyone has thier fave they still play, some have one they cant put down and yet i know that deep down theres some who are playing a MMORPG yet feel like they want something totally new.
With all the big names out there like WoW, Lineage 2, Everquest & Everquest 2, GW, STWG just to name a few every time i see something about them and i look at them I stop and go down memory lane. I plaied WoW and yes did enjoy it but even with all its great new content I still found myself kinda burnt out like I was playing but didnt feel like I was doing something more than just sit in one place killing. I plaied L2 ahh the days when Lineage 2 was actually fun(yes it was at one point). Then how could I forget the hours i spent in EQ2 trying my best to catch up to the guildies who didnt know me but accepted me anyway.
Originally when EQ hit shelves waaaay back when I was intimidated by the thought of MMORPG's, they seemed like too much. Then I found Everquest Online Adventures....bet manny of you havent heard that name said in awhile lol. I saw it and thought hey mabie i'll give it a try, the first day I was hooked and my addiction started. It may have been basicly the first console version of a MMORPG but it has its fun side, the raids, the people, the laid back fun attitude of the players ahh it was nice. then i decided to upgrade to a PC MMORPG(that is after betatesting the expansion for the console game . Well as much fun as most of the games that are out can be they each have a mixed mached bad side.
WoW has its fun but has been turned into a "its all about the gear and how manny ppl you can whack" instead of lets just play and have fun. EQ2 has a decent comunity full of talkative friendly folk most of the time lol. It used to be that when you plaied games like EQ2, FFXI or L2 you couldnt take your eyes off the screen, every minute you plaied was a blast. Fun quests that felt like you did something spectacular great new friends to comune with and never a boreing moment.
I remeber when players wrote in forums how they couldnt wait to see the game now its more of a bash fest. A time when you went to work or school depending and you couldnt wait to jump on to your char and finish that one quest. Now ppl seem to just play and complain. There used to be great game beta's now it seems theres verry few and what there is is never god enuff for most.
Out of this little story/rant I ask you, as a long time gamer myself, wheres the fun. I'd play some of my old favs WoW even but mabie not EQ2 or even dare I say CoH/CoV again. But then i remember when I do I dont know anyone who plays anymore and its always hard to get accepted again. Does anyone agree at all with anything I have said, honestly and no I'm not bashing or putting down any of the forementioned games I think they are great but I feel like I'm not able to find the fun that I see vids of gamers haveing.
So if anyone has an idea of a great game ( I've tried majority of MMORPG's) for me to try or try again. Let me know and ofcourse let me know why. Give me the pros and cons the good the bad cause I feel like somehow I have been disconected from the server called total fun.

I'm relatively VERY new to mmorpg's compared to you guys, but thats my biggest problem with WOW.... i feel like i'm running around by myself most of the time just killing things. it seems to have very little interaction between players, which i would think would be a MMORPG's best feature. I like just walkinjg around in the cities because they are populated, i wish they had i don't know games or contests or places where people could interact more in them.
when i invent my wild west mmorpg its going to have gambling halls haha
