In response to my post about the concern regarding running Graphics earlier, it is nice to know that it appears they are considering compatibility. Cause that was what dissapointed me with Horizons the most, the fact that they showed their amazing graphcis so nice, and yet my GeforceFX 5200, and all the other pretty stuff to make a fairly good machine, still could't see the full graphical potential. Sounds like EQ2 might be keeping an eye on that, though I'm guessing most original EQ players here have had experience with SoE's reporting unlrealistic minimum req's often.....when Luclin was new, alot of players needed a fair amout more than what Recomeneded (not Required) specs were, to run it to it's full potential :P heh, but regardless, the game looks great, I'll deffinitly give ita try, just to see if it can ruin my life as much as EQ did when it was good :P lol

You know that there is no graphics card out today that can run Eq2 with all graphics options turned up to max. So in 3 or more years, this game will still be top of the line.

I have a question, although all the pictures that have been posted look extremely good I wonder if they will look that good when played on a home computer?? At eq2.ogaming.com they stated that:
"It will take CPUs and video cards that aren't on the market yet to be able to play our game with all options cranked up to full."
Now i was wondering if they have taken those screen shots while playing the game on some super-computer, or are playing the game with the best graphics card and cpu available, and they still believe that the games graphics will improve?
So would we be able to get the game looking as good as it does in those screen shots?

It won't take 3 years. Unless you absolutely refuse to spend more than $50 on a graphics card or something.

Hmm, I dunno, I'd kinda like to play it with Max Graphics options now if they're gonna provide it, not in three years :P Don't make it to be top of the line in 3 years, and very hard for the average user to do max graphics now, just do consistent graphics update. While their are several things about Dark Age of Camelot I don't like, as far as graphics work they are a good example to follow, when it came out it was just a little less than EQ in graphics, and with each paid expansion they've dramatically improved it..........if you have the money to get a great machine, then thats great, but I knew more than enough players in Everquest who were running horrible machines, SoE should expect just as much in EQ2, a large percentage of players will prolly be around mid-range Video Cards, 2 GHz. But I have enough faith in them still that hopefully it'll be good. Though deffinitly, I have to agree with the comment on the damage of Fanboys (to the extent of insane fanatics), its great if your a fan.....but to the point that you bash anyone who mentions another game? even if you've never played the game your rooting for? Their was alot larger Fanatic base for Horizons before it was released.....now....well, the ratings seem to tell that, it did't live up to what all the fanboys had hoped, I just hope we're not all dissapointed by SoE

Yes you can, alienwares will run Eq2 almost at max. That is what they use when they take pictures. The game will still look awsome even if you have one of the lower end graphics card. As i have said many times before, i saw the actual game graphics on a geforce MX 5200 (its a lower end model) and the graphics still look amazing. Far superior to that of any other game.

Sry, just heard so many claims about it so far, and I had just read your so it was the first example that poped into my head. I'd like to play eq2, but I'm afraid that if the same people that ruined EQ for so many people are gonna play EQ2, then I might not be all that willing to play.
One things for sure, if they do the same thing that FFXI did by bringing in PS2 players (which I dont think they will be able to do, but I didnt think so about FFXI either), then there's no way that I'll play. The PS2 players in FFXI just ruined it for me.
Given the lukewarm reception EQOA got, I don't see them porting EQ2 to the PS2+, nevermind the technological restraints.
As for the people ruining the game... they're everywhere, and they'll be in EQ2 as well. Especially the botters/farmers as selling ingame currency/items has turned into a big money business. The deciding factor will be how hard Sony comes down on them. I'm sure they'll come down pretty hard, as they are starting to sell ingame items for the PS2 games, and if memory serves, I recall reading about them tossing around the idea for EQ. It only makes sense, financially, as it's going to happen anyway, might as well be done in house where Sony can get more $$, and cut down on scam complaints in the CS dept.

If your worried about EQ1 community comming to EQ2(I feel the community was great have many friends) then wait till ya see WoW. Blizzard has the worst community of misfits in the world. Most people that play WoW will be blizzard fans which = Leet wannbes.
Ill stick to EQ2. The new video alone makes WoW look foolish. I played WoW(friend in beta) its craptastic. Its like playing EQ1 with less LORE and same gameplay. Quest after quest in WoW gets VERY boring. From what I have played of WoW(bored me in 1 week like DAOC) EQ2s video of speech and NPCs haveing schedules alone kicks WoW in the ass.
As for PS2 (hell no) for EQ2. Its impossible. The PS2 hardware doesnt have many of the features used in EQ. They would have to strip it down so bad. If current PCs cant run it perfect then PS2 is dead. Xbox probably could with a low res version.
As far as buying a new PC....UPGRADE!! Thats what I do. I have 1gb ram now just waiting for the 512mb Nvidia 6800+ new chips to come out. With 512mb should help alot in EQ2 and DOOM3.
Upgrading is far cheaper. Ill spend probably 600 on video card but it will be worth it when its released(way after 6800 new card whic are 256mb I think).
Thank you bobjones, I am now stupider for reading your posts. I'm assuming you're 12 or 13 years old, by counting the number of exclamation points you use and the fact that I hear a 12 year olds voice when I read your posts. If people like YOU are going to make up the community for EverQuest 2, then theres nothing SoE can do about making a bad game, except have an IQ test and maturity test to be able to create an account.
The videos for EverQuest 2 look very nice, I liked how in the one video where they were fighting in the temple and the rogue got hit she fell down and it looked very interactive, the problem there is, you probably have to have a high end system to play that. Thats where SoE loses customers, not everyone wants to shell out $1,000.00-$2,000.00 just to play EQ2.
Right now you can play WoW with the minimum specs on a dell pc or even the cheapest pc you can buy in bestbuy and other places that sell computers. This is where Blizzard gaines customers, that and the appealing gameplay which will more than likely dominate everquest 2's if everquest 2 is anyway alike everquests 1's gameplay. The fact that world of warcraft will also have minigames and things to keep power gamers in check and things that allow casual gamers to play with the power gamers, will bring more players.
EverQuest 2 will bring more of the power gamer type, the ones with extremely high end gaming pc's that want the best graphics just to show off the best graphics. Take a look at Asherons Call 2, great graphics, crappy gameplay, SW:G had okay graphics, gameplay blew. DAoC was in a simliar boat as World of Warcraft, graphics werent as good as the games that were coming out. But it is probably the 2nd best MMROPG on the market right now despite the amount of bugs and problems it has. The majority of the casual gamers dont notice those things. As you see DAoC's graphics evolved as the game evolved and they'll be releasing an expansoin soon that to me the graphics look much much better than EQ 2's character models. I will admit EverQuest 2 has the best landscape of any game i've seen, but WoW's landscaping is just breath taking and makes you feel like " wow.. this is awesome ".
I don't really know where I'm going with all my rambling on, I guess I just feel I need to tell you you annoyed me the whole time I read your posts just because of your sheer lack of maturity and obvious bias and hate towards other games. When EverQuest 2 comes out with 1/100th of its promised features, don't come crying to people who play WoW with 99% of their gameplay and features done and more awaiting in future expansions and patches.
Go read the review of WoW on the evequest 2 warcry website, the guy reviews WoW when he used to have a bias hate towards it.
While graphics arent everything!(fact) I just feel WoW gameplay wise is lacking from my play test. It really does feel like DAOC or EQ1. Theres nothing really new. EQ2 shows MANY new things. The speech in cities is amazing and makes the world come alive add in schedules?
Who can complain about EQ1 faction system? Best damn system in ANY MMORPG. I was always looking for a faction system in other games never happened. In EQ I still remember days pups attacked skeletons. In DAOC like WoW the gameworld feels static. There faction system is void. I love being a Evil necro and have other races hate me adds the real feeling of Power to my class and makes the world feel true
EQ makes me feel im in another world and thats why I think EQ2 will be better. Place on the fact EQ2 is aimed for casual players(yes it is) Raids of 20max is not large vs EQ1 60+ peeps. Also missions aimed for people of 6 you can see. Watch the video that came out. The game is geared to low amounts of players(it has to be graphics are amazing)
As for WoW getting a graphic upgrade well....it will never look as good as EQ2. Upgrading an engine NEVER gives ya a huge maz upgrade plus they have to keep current consumers happy. Normally like all MMORPG a graphic upgrade will help make it look better but not effect the old lands.
Anyway enough of my rambling Ill enjoy EQ2 hope to see some of ya there(well almost)
(edit) wont eq run on lower end machines with graphics cranked down fine? I would think anyone with a Geforce4(non MX) which you can get cheap could run it fine. Sure you wont with 256mb ram and a crappy videocard but ram is cheap and once new videocard lines are out so will be old generation cards.
Originally posted by Vindicoth When EverQuest 2 comes out with 1/100th of its promised features, don't come crying to people who play WoW with 99% of their gameplay and features done and more awaiting in future expansions and patches.
I doubt it will come out without any promised features. Player housing is already finished and im sure there is nothing more they promised. NPC factions and schedules with voice seem to be working 100% as is. I think now its mostly bug testing. On ther eforums they have said nothing wouldnt make it. If ya read other games forums before released they always came in forums and gave a heads up on issues.
Im pretty sure EQ2 will release with its main features. Also EQ2 you KNOW will have expansions the old world will be rebuilt im sure.
Wont it be fun having orcs run from you because they know you as Ork Slayer? Or people in towns worship you because your a powerful and well known person helping Qeynos.
I've tried finding pictures of EQ2 I'd like, but none so far have impressed me. If you want graphics, go see Lineage 2 C2 pics. Yes, the game sucks but it's pretty.
Bobjones, can we see pics of the character customizer in action? I am dieing to see some finalized screenshots of the game.
Also I hear Frogloks need to be unlocked. A lot of people don't like that but its a server wide quest so I doubt they will be locked for more then a day after release.
I just spent 20 minutes trying to find the very good review I read with the guy that went into WoW wanting to hate it and came out wanting to play it more than EQ2.

I just spent 20 minutes trying to find the very good review I read with the guy that went into WoW wanting to hate it and came out wanting to play it more than EQ2.
The screen shots look awesome
