WoW Insider is reporting on a WOW player who is currently playing two characters, Reinisch the Undead priest, and Noor the Gnome rogue, using only pacifist techniques.
Ok, so we gotta ask – why on earth a character that doesn't kill anything? Doesn't that feel like pulling teeth? I prefer doing stranger stuff, as opposed to grinding high-end instances. Once, my 70 mage was in Southshore, and someone was asking directions to Ghostlands in zone chat. I told him how to go through EPL. Then I clicked on him, and he was something like a level 12 Draenei hunter. I asked him why he wanted to go there, and it turns out he wanted a red cat for a pet -- so I escorted him through EPL, and he only died a couple of times getting there. I've also done a few quests on PvP servers with non-hostile Horde players (not pre-arreanged or anything), such as the mechanical chicken escort in Feralas (twice, so we could all get credit).
Show us your kung fu: what's the actual nuts-and-bolts reality of this character? Both my priest and my rogue try not to hit anything, although there's always a chance of a misclick when trying to open a quest item with mobs fighting near it. Both of them always wield a fishing rod, so any accidental hits won't increase their weapon skills. Neither of them will do quests where they have to kill things. In battlegrounds, my rogue will throw bombs to interrupt flag captures and stun people and may even accidentally kill players low in health or nearby critters. My priest only heals, so he is actually closer in roleplaying terms. Neither will "get around" these limits by grouping and having other players do their dirty work.
In terms of bragging rights, I intend to keep my rogue's weapon skills (dagger, thrown and unarmed) at all 1s. My priest will also have all 1s, but it won't be obvious on WoW Armory that he has no offensive spells beyond the level 1 Smite all priests start with.

You know people are really getting bored with a game when they start taking leveling to extremes like this guy has.
I recall back in Lineage 1, some guy decided to level from 1-50 killing these little level 1 goblins that were right outside the exit of one starter towns. He didn't kill any other mobs and it took him many many hours of play to pull it off. (you got credit for all kills in that game, things didn't turn grey)

Well, interesting story, to be sure. This is definitely an issue of "whatever makes you happy". After all, that is what a game is about.
Still, it truly is sad what we must now do to stay entertained. I wonder if this guy will ever make it to 70 (or 80). t will take a lot of dailies, that is for sure.
Will this be a tale your going to tell yer grad son?
I don't dare to tell anyone, who does not know wow or mmo's at all, that i've been playing wow for almost 200+days played.
Congratulations.
I'd get bored to tears
... and yer mammy said you'd never accomplish anything!!
wtg pacifist gnome!
Some people really really really really like wow dont they.
----ITS A TRAP!!!----
... atleast if there was something positive to get out of it... like if there was faction in the game and this was the only way of having maxed out faction with everyone...
Some people are made to grind... like some people find house work has meditative qualities... thats why games like Vanguard still work for some people.
He's getting out of it what HE chooses to, rather than conform to the way you're "supposed" to play. grats.
I like the part about escorting a char to get a pet. Maybe word will spread about a benevolent mage who helps travelers. oh no... an in game personna is born... spontaneous Role Playing breaks out across the server!!!
Grats to him for what he is attempting and grats also for the escort thing

True Nolife. Other nolives are interesting people comparing to him
I wonder how old this guy is. He must have played TONS of days playing normally if he decided to do such pervert thing.
And he is paying for it, omg...
Playing: Rohan
Played (from best to worst): Shadowbane, Guild Wars, Shayia, Age of Conan, Warhammer, Runes of Magic, Rappelz, Archlord, Knight online, King of Kings, Kal online, Last chaos
The is a lvl 70 Dwarf Hunter on one of the EU servers who is lvl 70 with no ranged skill. I think his guns are 1, thrown is 1, and bows is 6. I thought that was actually impressive. But I do not see how someone who does not kill mobs would ever make it to 70.
Currently Playing: Nothing (waitinf for WAR)
Retired: AC2, EVE, DAoC, EQ, WoW
Grats to him!
Nice to see someone playing their character the way they want to, instead of playing the way they're "supposed to."
To the loser above who calls him "nolive" and "pervert" - perhaps you'll understand what it is to be a free individual when you grow up, if you grow up.

I guess if you would get XP from getting killed, some peoples would do just that all the way to 70.
Great Post!
Good for you on playing the game, the way YOU want to play it
Excellent on helping that young Drae get a pet he wanted!
Wish there were players like that.. that would help out young-uns on my server.. but, alas - usually if a young one asks for help they get tortured by chat hate. Tizz a shame really. *sighs*
I remember in the days of 'Old' when people helped each other. Instead of giving them grief for asking questions or wanting a little help ingame. - Yes.. Yes, alot of young lvl players will abuse this help, but ALOT will NOT peoples Remember this please..
"Huntress"
This may be a dumb question but how does he level?
I suppose he could just instance grind with his priest, healing people but how does he level his rogue? I wouldn't tolerate some pussy in my group who has the ability to do good dps just standing there saying "lets all love the murlocks"!
If you wanna be like this go play Hello Kitty Island Adventure and stop clooging up the servers with your tree hugging hippy crap!
Good Heavens!
As long as the OP is not in your group or your server (Or for that matter, even if they were on your server).. Why the hate.. Good Lord!
Let people play and do what they want.. Ever heard of "Free Will" .. Bub??!!
"Huntress"
I remember this one time in WoW, there were these 4 guys who grinded on boars in the forest, and they were only worth 2 XP points a piece......
I'd like to point out that this is pointless mainly because it is impossible.
There not enough quests where you don't kill anything (Pick up items or etc). Discovery XP isn't nearly enough to carry anyone anywhere. And he said he wouldn't group to get around it.
It's literally impossible. There is NO way.
more power to him
I can see where a good engineering skill could come in handy for him, low damage stunners, gnomish engineering stuff, net gun, shrink ray, poultryizer, frost grenades, and target dummies to draw off mob aggro.
I would have to agree with you. I took a level 6 gnome warlock to the outlands to get all of the flight points. He only leveled about 5 or 6 levels or so. Took me forever and I died constantly. I dont think it is possible to get to 70 with out killing anything. Even the delivery quests are not going to help much as there are just not a whole lot of them.
i dont think it is actually possible to do this. there are barely enough quests for a whole level after about lvl 30 or 40.
still good luck to him. shows some people dont like combat and would rather grind other classes (crafting classes or politicians (SWG ftw))
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
Props to him who give a flying duck if ppl thinks its crap
-Semper ubi sub ubi!
always wear underwear
I don't understand how he can have such patience to do something so meaningless. It won't make any difference at all except that it can be seen in the armory and he probably won't be looked up much either. This guy must truly be bored to spend such a time on something that's just 0s and 1s.
Well, it could be argued that all MMORPG's are meaningless in real life. You will get out of it ony what you want to. And he has already started a reasonably long thread discussion here so.. I would also argue he has added more meaning than most. Good luck to him and I believe he is to be congratulated on his individuality.
