i had a blast playing wow instances. you really had to pick your party members carefully. no one couldn't rush into mobs. Lotro was a different story, and for that reason - i didn't like him. people grouped whoever came first. there was no class differences. maybe the exception was a healer. and what really bugged me was the fact most of the random parties rushed intro mobs without even planning to discussing tactics. you could have done the same at wow instances but than the game was punishing you, and the result was a quick death of the entire party. everyone had a roll and know what to do. at lotro it wasn't like that. so what will happen at AOC in terms of instances?

i hope there isnt a single instance and i also hope you wind up on an FFA server so that i can just continuously make you /quit! (im a little off tonight so i had to edit this)
but im also feeling quite cynical atm.
good day
Having to make good decisions as far as which types of players go with you in instances, can be both a good thing, and a bad thing.
If it was like EQ1, you ended up with a "Holy Trinity" effect, where you HAD to have a warrior, cleric, and enchanter. Those classes were very desired, and while there were large numbers of warriors, clerics and enchanters were in short supply (especially talented enchanters). Monks were almost required, as were rogues later on (for corpse retrievals). So that left... one open slot for the rest of the 13ish classes.
Not good. Sure it makes you think ahead, and makes it feel like a real team effort (it is usually), but because its "required", those classes that aren't required end up being left out. Not good.
LOTRO grouping was fairly elementary... you needed a minstrel, and then everone else. Preferably, two minstrels for safety . Guardians were nice to have as well, but not as mandatory as warriors were early on in EQ1 (Later, it became paladins for a while, due to their stuns). So this makes grouping in LORTO easier to do, at the cost of some forethought.
Which is best is personal preference, but I can tell you, for those players who want to play something other than a "required" class, they would pick "let any group of 6 work ok". Waiting for a group to pick you out of the 501230 hunters... not fun.
What I am most worried about is how AOC uses instancing, like it or not I think WoW used instancing very well, Guild Wars however drove me nuts.
I dont mind instancing if its used the right way but some of the games go a little overboard with it in my opinion.
Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

It is that kind of "thinking" that ruins games with PvP...no one wants to be camped til they "/quit"
It is a BS way of ...hell I don't even know...sucking?
broke down donkey....
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
