Damn TR :/

Well TR is no neare what we all hoped for, All that the game offers is, 3 lines of adventure and they are all booring.

Random Xp, Logoe´s and Crafting.

I personly think that they should have used what the story offers:

Humans as outlows, or clans creating new lifestyles. In the world of Banes. And crafing system for new tech, farming all overthe planet´s, and souting for the Logo´s.

Or close..... :P

But now 1 more simple booring, no skill game.  And they get paid for it * money for selling stuff like this - Its a Criem :)

Beta:
GW, WOW, AOC, DAOC, DOD, L2, VG.
Playd:
GW necro msx, WOW never maxd, DAOC reaver-paladin-cabalist-vamp max, L2 never maxd, VG never maxd.

Play:
Daoc - Paladin. Classic.

Actually, I agree. TR was rather disappointing when I found out they didn't meet any of the claims they made:

    • Take Role-Playing to the Battlefield!
      • "Fast tactical RPG combat combines character growth and development with skill, stealth, and strategy."
      • Wait, nevermind. We just took the same old combat system from all the other games NC produced and made it a clicking nightmare with the wonderfully useless UI.
    • Unleash the Power of LOGOS
      • "Learn the alien language and harness the very fabric of the cosmos to unlock new powers and abilities."
      • Oh, sorry, I mean you run around and collect symbols in order to use abilities. No learning required. We just liked how original "LOGOS" sounds, so we advertised that when it's really just the same thing as "magic" in any other game.
    • Character Cloning System™
      • "Explore different character classes without leveling up a new character using the innovative cloning system."
      • Well, we lied about this, too. You still have to level-up characters and run through a miserable grind for at least 20 of the later levels anyway (for which there is no reason to bother). If you clone at the wrong time, you won't be able to change classes and you can only choose from two paths on any single character.

Everything that set it apart and hyped it up turned out to be a farce, and right now it's still much less of a game than anything else out there. You'd be better off playing a free MMORPG or (gasp) reading a book until something better comes out.

I suggest the Dreaming Dark series by Keith Baker. Three books that will last you a few good months or so, and they're much more entertainment than what TR has to offer.

yeah, i didnt play MMO's before this game because frankly the past famed mmos were too similiar, and i dont mean the fact that they ARE mmo's(items, classes, levels, stats...etc)

but like mentioned above i was under the impression this would actually be worth playing

i played the trial and was overwhelmed with the stuff you could do.

when i stumbled into the crafting station, i was like "wtf, oh sh!t! wtf? fabrications? i can MOD weapons? what components?"

at first glance i thought this game had ALOT to offer but slowly but surely, AFTEr i bought the game i quickly learned there isnt much too it....

if anything i was hoping the combat system would evolve or something, i mean having a crosshair is just pointless...

sorry to contributing to this sour forum but damnit they made some claims they didnt cash

I agree with the OP. For me the combat is fun enough, I ejoy taking on 5 enemies at the time instead of the usual 1vs1 for soloing in MMOs. But they shot themself in the foot and released this one-trick-pony without any community building qualities.

When I am out hunting with old and new friends I want to be able to chat. It's not easy in this UI unless you use voice (which I dont).

And I don't want to be out hunting ALL the time, IMHO they forgot to add a "hang around" gameplay. Many games have crafting, fishing, diplomacy, so you can chill out in the game. Most people plan on making a level 50 crafter clone instead of spending valuable ability points from the main toon.

Every company makes claims that they never backup, the only thing that matters anymore is what DID they do right and is it fun because of that?

Basically, join the Veteran MMO player universe and take to heart one rule of being an MMO player:

-Never EVERRR under ANY circumstance do you buy or pay for ANY new MMO coming out without

playing It's open beta or free trial there of. If the game does not have an open beta or some kind

of pre-release "Come look and try me out!" time before you have to pay to play it. DO NOT TOUCH

IT. This means they know their game is not ready for launch, or they know their game is not really

that appealing so they hide it away until you pay them $39.99 for the box and a free month to find out

that the game is actually complete CRAP.

    -This Is, NOT SPARTAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Having a different opinion must mean you're a troll.

Though I enjoy the combat. The game isn't one that makes me want to rush home from work and jump in it.      British must be dreaming if he thinks this is new and improved,  It's another ncsoft lite. fun for a bit but nothing underneath.

But I do admit I like it better than other  recent releases. At the least, the combat is fun and there are no damn hobbits or elves. Nor do you have to depend on crafters  ( sry crafters)  for your gear. this makes for a fairly level playing field.  It's like British started down the right path then said the heck with it .

No, what he did was blow a substantial portion of the budget before deciding what they had created was crap, so they started over and built a different game, but of course w/o enough funds to really flesh it out properly.

Who the hell are you, and why should I care?
Congrats! You are a victim of Trollstar!

Its fast, and requires more than just rushing in and blasting stuff, has cover, some of the foes even have weaker armor at the back, so yes its got tactics.

You can get up high and snipe foes on the battlefield. Again - tactics.

If you hold the mouse button down your weapons repeat fire. Maybe you need to read the manual. That should only take you a week.

Yes - any technology sufficiently advanced will seem like magic. So you learn logos to unlock skills. Thats exactly what they said.

And there are a few quests that require knowledge of the logos language.

No they didnt lie - you just lack reading comprehension. At lvl 30 your class branches. You can clone and explore either class without having to repeat the first 30 levels.

And yes once you reach level 30 you will need to repeat the later content. What there is of it.

Three books that would last me a week and cost more than 3 months of T.R playtime in Australia. I suggest you spend more time reading and less time playing and it wouldnt take you so long to read a book.

I happen to have a job and friends who regularly demand my time, finishing a novel in a month is quite an accomplishment with the limited schedule in mind.

    And since when is $6.99 x3 ≥ $45?

I'd prefer to pay $7 / month for quality entertainment than $15 / month for a second job I'd never show up for.

I read on the train on the way to work and home again. After 20+ years of reading fantasy/sci-fi I pretty much speed read.

On cost - paperbacks might be $6.99 U.S - but in Australia they are $18 to $20 despite the exchange rate.

And T.R monthly fee is $20 so they are about dead equal. So for me thats roughly 40 hours of entertainment for $20 playing T.R vs 4 hours for $20 from reading a book.

  • Plasuma!!!Plasuma!!! Member Posts: 1,872

Wow, book prices in Australia are rather unkind. I suppose it would be more economical to subscribe to a game in that case, since at least the game can change for the better later. Hopefully.

    Are you serious?

Mages/Warlocks can take on like 50+ mobs at once in WoW.

Playing Tabula gave me a headache, the game environment/graphics are not smooth, and just 'cause nausea.

It really isn't anything new, and it's pointless hack n' slash.

The player base that actually play it on a normal basis are not helpful either, they like to say, "ADAPT OR QUIT", Ok, I will quit, so will a lot of other people who try it out, making the game you love less fun because of a smaller player base.

Anyways, I'm going back to WoW, no MMO is more fluid/responsive and I like being able to customize my UI and be able to constantly PVP without any timesinks.

Thanks for the trial, but Tabula has not created anything new, though it says it has.

The funny thing is that when i was in beta and logged in the very first time almost every complain i still see reflects my feelings i had when i tried the game for the first time, the reason why i saw the game excactly like most current complaints was because i didn't really get into the game, didn't really play many of its feature's.

Until i really started to play the game and seen the depth the game DOES HAVE, seeing all those instance's which are very diverse, seeing and understanding how much work it takes to present us with something TR is offering, is what makes TR one of the better MMO's out there for me and to me personaly.

And in ALL games it's about addepting to the game if people don't even care to addept in some way's then sorry i feel we will see more and more complaints coming from people who do not give a game and fair and honost change. I'm glad i did, though i did stop playing TR untill the patch came in ( about 3 weeks) but gonna start playing again this weekend.

Ah another pointless thread. Every .. EVERY mmo is the same. Your going to go to someone that is just standing there and get a quest to go kill something or find something and bring it back or take it to someone that ..yes is just standing there. LOL so AOC will look nice but guess what .. your going to go to A then to B back to A to get your little prize. Most of you just CRAP on these MMO's yet you couldnt even come close to having a idea of what it takes to start one.  Ok so you dont want to play it.. awww so.. dont. Go back and make others believe you really would rather read a book.. Right thats why you posted this.
