Caldari ships progress

I have been playing eve for about three weeks now, and I've been using my Merlin for a while, and it does the job well enough.

At the minute I am running agent missions, and currently at level one, they are all pretty much the same. My merlin is good but I'm getting a little bored of the two ship targetted minimum...so was looking at maybe buying a new ship after the MERLIN, but wanted some advice on what ship to buy? Whats the next one up from a merlin?

Secondly...the level one security agents all give out really boring agent missions. Do the level 2, 3, 4 etc missions get more exciting?

There is a skill called Targeting which increases how many ships you can lock at the same time. The max possible on a Merlin is 4 targets.

One step up from the Merlin would be the Cormorant and after that in order Moa, Ferox, Rokh.
Or of you prefer missiles start with the Kestrel then Caracal, Drake, Raven.

In later stages splitting your firepower between ships wont be as effective as in lv 1 missions, so i wouldnt worry too much about that. But as the post above states, you can get the skill book targeting to increase the number of targets at a time. But also remember your maximum is affected by the ship you are flying.

As far as "fun" missions....im not sure tbh. Ive dont all types of missions but its only at 1st that they ever give you exitement, cuz ull get the sames ones over and over again so you will always know what to expect.

I think its important to remember that the PVE in EvE is spread out in different form and missions are limited at best, after all the core of the game is pvp. If Pve is your thing then perhaps you should look into running complexes, and ratting some low sec belts (the idea of hunting mpcs in low sec should give you enough of a thirl as you may be trying to actively avoid pirates etc.)

W/e you wish to do EvE should have a lil bit of that in for you.

Well to start with most agent missions from NPC corps are boring what you get in level 1 missions is the same for any other level exept the ships are bigger/stronger.

As for ship progresssion if yuo can afford it get a cruiser they rock!!!

And train your electronic skills so you can target more ships.

Also if you re looking for more PvE, check out the COSMOS areas. Those are entire constellations with their own story lines and hidden areas. Though I fully recommend reading a guide on them first, since many missions actually require their own skill tree to complete (archaeology and hacking, as well as others).

You might also want to look into groups that do exploration later. These are random hidden areas in deadspace that must be found and generally provide unique opportunities such as rare spawns and items. Though these tend to be rather tough.

On the contrary, level 1 missions are not representative of the higher levels as it has the lowest pool of missions to draw from. Yeah, level 1 is the jist of every mission you'll ever get, but you're looking at three times as many mission choices at higher levels.

Hi there-a couple things: the next largest ship is the cormorant, but it's frankly not very good, except as a salvage vessel-what you want is a caracal for now, which is a cruiser-slap 5 heavy launchers on there and you'll rock PVE and missions-as far as missions go, look at the social skillbooks: social, connections, etc to raise your standing, which helps you reach level 2 missions faster-and yes, the missions get harder and better as you move up. Targeting skill increases locked targets up to ship maximum, signature analysis skill helps you lock faster.

Ok, for missions your next ship should be a Kestrel.  Then a Caracal.  Then a Raven.

Train Targeting, its in the Electronics section. You need it at level 1 for frigates, 4 for cruisers.  For the Raven you need it at 5 plus Multi Tasking at 1.

Missions are boring.  All NPC stuff is boring after the first few hours, sorry.

If you ever get to lvl 4 missions and happen to train Minmatar you might want to go with the Maelstrom.

It does lack some of the versatility a cruise missile raven provides with range and damage type (since you either have to choose autocannons or artillery) but it had a massive tank (especially with Minmatar BS skill lvl 4 or higher) that can leave a raven in the dust.

It can take the worse lvl 4s can offer.
