Will the combat be better than DDO's?

One of DDO's major plus points is its real time combat as most of you know. After playing DDO for so long, I cannot play any other game with boring combat, regardless of how good the rest of the game is.

Obviously, Aoc's promised combat system seems right up my alley but will it be that much better than DDO's? It will have to be a great deal better to pull someone like myself away from DDO.

Oh, one more thing, will my avatar be able to do backflips, forward rolls and cartwheels etc to dodge ray spells, arrows and the like in AoC as I can in DDO? Will AoC also have active blocking with shields etc?

Thanks

I certainly hope it's better than DDO. Sure it's different in practice than other MMOs but DDO just devolves in a button mashing and jumping...I know many will disagree with me, just do not find the DDO combat system fun or challenging.

I was kinda looking at the samething and I went to the web site and started to look at a few in game video's and after seeing some of the combat stuff,.....   I just don't know,..  it looks lame, I could be wrong and others may see it as cool but it just looks like the same 2 or 3 moves.

Any others watch the video's?  You thoughts.

    Been there done that:
    Asherons Call,SWG,AOC,D&D,COH,Anarchy Online,DAOC,EVE,Guild Wars,LOTRO,POTBS,WAR,WW2, and Rift

From what I seen on movies about the game I saw pvp looked like Benny-Hill show for a warrior.

I know what you mean. I quit DDO because I don't like the GW style all instanced missions. I prefer a persistant world. But no other game is as fun as DDO when it comes to combat (IMHO).

The promise of a persistant world with twitch combat sounds really exciting. That is why AOC and TCOS are high on my list.

To be honest, I don't know what to say about AOC. Every gameplay video I saw was disappointing. Either they were edited to look like a 21st century movie trailer or just plain unimpressive. Then again, everyone seems to think it will good based on something I seem to be missing. In 3 months time we will both know how good it is when we play it.

    Only time will tell.
