I realize that SoE is making The Agency and obviously SoE is part of Sony for whom obviously makes the PS3.
But, not including a XBOX360 version is really very short sighted. The Xbox360 has a MASSIVE online community with their Xbox Live service, and FFXI is a clear example of why MMORPGs should include Xbox360 in their plans.
I would definetly play The Agency if it was made available on my XBOX360. I won't on the other hand go out and buy a PS3 for The Agency. That just isn't going to happen. The PS3 is entirely too expensive and has way too few good games compared to the XBOX360.

To not release this on the Xbox is the only acceptable solution for Sony. If they ported the game to 360 they'd be giving their biggest competitor, Microsoft, free revenue ater having spent time and money creating the 360 version. That is just not very business savy I'm afraid, and I hvae to conclude that if it isn't Sony who is short-sighted, who could it be?
Well, we are talking Sony, the same folks that brought you betamax years ago, and of course, SOE, of SWG infamy.
Pretty much anything with the word Sony shows a shortsightedness of vision.

You wouldn't even consider getting a gaming PC?
This is a silly line of thought. Of course Sony isn't going to publish their game on the biggest competitors system. Even wishing they would shows how naive you are.

Damn you're right, can you believe they came up with Blueray, those useless Vaio laptops and the horrible line of Bravia TVs? Not to mention the Playstation and PS2! Indeed, Sony have no idea of what the average consumer wants to buy.
Ok news flash here kids.
They are producing a copy of this game for the PC which runs on WINDOWS technology. Guess who makes Windows. Yep you guessed it. Microsoft.
So, saying that SoE would not support their biggest competitor (Microsoft as you stated) just makes you look like the idiot. Not me.
SoE has supported Microsoft for many, many years. In fact, name one single SoE made MMORPG that does NOT run on Microsoft's Windows platforms. Go ahead. I am waiting.

the PS3 in Japan is MASSACRING (sp?) the Xbox 360
Blue ray is whupping HD DVD's butt
MS is SOE's biggest gaming competitor....
so explain to me why the hell would you put it on the xbox 360?
No, its not.
Last i checked, you have to pay to play XBL. PS3 Network is free.

Funny, I thought Sony makes PCs that run Windows. Windows isn't their competitor, the Xbox 360 is. They both just happen to be made by Microsoft. The fact is that in the waning years of the PS2, the Playstation brand produced more than half of Sony's revenues. They have the similar plans for the PS3 and even bigger plans for Blue Ray. Putting a game that might actually sell PS3 on their biggest competitors machine (the 360 you dweeb, not Windows) is basically abandoning their entire business plan. Grow up.
News Flash ................. OP is right. One game is NOT going to make enough people go buy a PS3 to make up for profit loss. If you know anything about the game industry then you know most money is made from the game and little markup are on the consoles. Since Sony owns the license to the Agency they would get a big chunk of profit even if its on Xbox360 and imo the profit will be bigger than the additional sales they get from PS3s.......The only reason logistically they are doing this is because of the negative rep about PS3 not having any good exclusive games. Financially its not the best move.
Sony is VERY much committed to proprietary hardware and captured markets.
Think Betamax.
And now Blue-Ray.
I personally will no longer invest into any Sony product line anymore.
They should simply not be encouraged to continue their rapacious business practices.
Windows competitors are MAC and Linux...SONY does not make operating systems.
what are you going to do when Blu Ray beats out HD DVD this year? Not going to buy hi-Def anymore?
what are you going to do when Blu Ray beats out HD DVD this year? Not going to buy hi-Def anymore?
In the first place, most consumers aren't Blueray or HD ready. The majority of consumers are plain old DVD ready. So, come back and argue that crap when it actually matters.Loothur VonRichten

First you say that Windows and XBox360 "just happen to both be made by Microsoft... Then you turn right around and emphasize the fact that Sony makes The Agency and the PS3.

what are you going to do when Blu Ray beats out HD DVD this year? Not going to buy hi-Def anymore?
No, we'll just go download the movies instead. The whole Blue Ray vs HD DVD is a dead horse that may not matter much in the end as consumers bypass the products all together. Blue Ray may be beating HD DVD but it's not even close to beating plain ole DVD which with an upscaling player looks great in HD. By the time Sony actually finished the feature set and adds all the cool things that HD DVD could do last year the download services will be up and running and no one will care about shiny discs anymore. But let's stay on topic here and realize that profit from one little game pales in comparison to the stakes that Sony is playing with the PS3 and Blue Ray. They have bet the future of their company on these technologies and they are not going to aid their competitors. That would be like Sony publishing movies on HD DVD, it ain't going to happen and to even think that they would entertain the idea shows how much you don't understand about the situation. You bought your Xbox 360 so enjoy it and go play Halo. The pitiful few who bought a PS3 actually for gaming might pickup The Agency and those of use committed to PC gaming will be enjoying all the best MMOS without the crappy issues that go along with playing an MMO on a console.
Hmm.
Heard the same exact predictions about how the superior quality of Betamax would bury VHS 'next year'.
We all know how that turned out.
If you want to know how it is really going, visit Amazon and have a look at the movie lists and sales for HD-DVD vs. Blue-Ray. And the prices.
If these guys were smart, they would quit trying to force customers to buy into their system by having exclusive contracts with the studios.
Then WE could decide which is best.
As to who will 'win'? I don't know. All I really know is that the real losers will be the customers.
And, back related to the topic, who do you think is currently winning the XBox360 vs. PS3 battle?
Even though PS3 comes with a built-in 'free' Blue-Ray playback capability.

Sony does not compete, but rather cooperate with Microsoft in the PC world, both companies are very actively cooperating in this field, purely out of business necessity.
Now you might just begin to comprehend what's behind Sony's decision making if you try hard enough, their business sense is solid in this matter. Let's say you were the CEO of Six Flags, and found out your R&D team had just come up with the best roller coaster ever. Would you license that coaster to Disney World and Universal Studios, or would you keep it in your parks to draw in the masses? Go figure.

Er... do you think, if things turned out differently for the ps3 to be the successful console platform (god forbid), microsoft should develop a ps3 game? I would think if sony did have its own operating system they'd want to develop exclusively on it, too. Mistake or not, I think if SoE developed the agency on the 360 it'd be admitting defeat, something they shouldn't be trying to portray.

Well let's not beat around the bush here. XBox360 already won the war against the PS3. PS3 came out too late, has too few titles, and cost too much. The fact that the PS3 is out selling the XBox360 in Japan is absolutely a mute point to say the least. Of course the PS3 out sells XBox360 in Japan. It's a super small country that you can fit inside California for crying out loud. That's like saying that Ford is beating Chevy because it sold more in New Jersey. Yeah... and?
The XBox360 is the clear winner in the current generation of consoles in America by a large margin, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that if you want to make money in the console industry you have to sell to the XBox360 market in America. Why do you think PS3 has so few exclusive titles these days? The publishers all saw the light and made their games for PS3 AND XBox360.
And, the blueray... haha.. Betamax all over again. When will you people ever learn.
At any rate, I will play The Agency on my PC, but I won't play it on a PS3. Not because I don't like the PS3, but because I don't OWN a PS3 and I won't be buying one anytime soon. I sure as hell will NOT buy a PS3 just because of The Agency.
I do on the other hand own a XBox360 just like millions of other Americans, and I would buy The Agency for XBox360 because I own the console.

Considering you didn't answer my question, I'll assume you didn't read or comprehend a thing I said and feel like sony bashing, so have at it and have a nice day.
And to clarify my position, I do not own a ps3 nor plan on owning one any time soon (even for this game, which I do have minimal interest in).
The only reason anyone is complaining that it's not on the 360 is because they can't play it. If you want to play MMOs, buy a gaming PC.
2007 was a very sad year for MMO's aside from LoTRO. 2008 will be the turn around year for MMO gaming with Warhammer, AoC, The Agency and possibly new info with Bioware. If you're not playing Crysis, I don't see a reason to own a gaming PC. And to make a statement on the PS3 vs. 360 controversy, I believe that Fallout 3 will show the PS3's superiority over the 360 by a large margin. The 80 gig hard drive can kick some serious butt. Until then, listen to what you want to, but just know that Xbox Live shouldn't seal the deal for you. You will be paying for something you already own.
