Nice vids, thanks for sharing
That looked like fun. The combat seemed a little slower than wow's but not snor induceing.
The Destruction side needed some tanks and more than one Melee.
A good vid hope the games plays close to that. If so it should be fun.
Excellent video! Thanks for the post.
People who call WAR a WoW clone would do well to watch this one. The graphics are much different and of a much higher quality, for one, and the UI is not nearly the same. It is, fortunately, clear and uncluttered, something I could use without modification.
One thing I liked in particular is how the races/careers moved how you would expect them to. The star of the video, the Goblin Shaman, is hunched over a bit and scurries around like a Goblin should.
The casting animations and particle effects seem to be coming along very well, too. Another nice thing is the draw distance was good and you could easily see what was happening pretty far off.
Oh, and the Bright Wizard's flame breath thing was friggin' sweet. I have no intention of being one, but I look forward to fighting next to one while he roasts some Destruction ass.
All in all, this has me drooling even more!
Looked like the goblins were completely owned by bright wizards
The death animation is anoying, i dont like it when the camera go on top view of your corpse the instant you die.
Also off topic, does WAR have a difrent graphic of spells of each rank?
Not the lazy graphic type ala WoW where mage rank 1 fireball is the same as rank 10 etc.
Seen this awhile back, but not in this quality. Awesome vid
I want to hug a gobbo.
Yea, wish more people used it.
Good video, the classes seemed a little to one sided though, just seemed like magus and shamans, and I think 2 choppas? same with the order side with a lot of bright wizards. Also didn't like the fact that most of the shamans didn't look like they were healing. Other than that it was getting pretty good at the end though when Destruction finally started getting on the ball, even if it was only for 2 or 3 minutes.
Bollocks!
I think that footage is rather old, and thus many of the careers were not yet implemented.
They did the Dwarfs and the Greenskins first, and then Empire and Chaos second. This build of the game is probably in the middle of the Empire and Chaos development, where they still did not have Knights of the Blazing Sun, Witch Hunters, Chosen, or Marauders in the game yet. At least I do not remember seeing any of those careers, but I skipped some boring looking parts so may have missed them.
Anyway, this would explain why the careers might be off. Also, bear in mind a lot of the abilities and combat mechanics may not be fully realized and balanced.
I do hope we can see a current video like this one soon, just to see the advances and additional careers. After this month they will all be revealed and most will be in the beta build, if their podcast is accurate.
that video was amazing, loved the way the more "dark bolt" (couldnt read the text properly) he threw the more powerfull his AoE heal thing seemed to be, and the pace of the combat looked perfect, more strategical then anything ive seen in mmo's so far, yeah u can tell it is older footage (was it pre revamp of the greenskins? i think it was) but the combat mechanics look spot on and a nice quality video for a nice change made me hungery for some stunty flesh to chew on
Overall it's a improvement from before but i still have issues with it...
- Combat looks slow and boring
- Combat animations are poor
- Spell effects are too bright and take up too much of the screen and get annoying.
- Spell sounds really get on my nerves, specially from the shaman.
- Rings around the base of the characters.
I spose the rest of the glitches and lag and stuff like that will be fixed. I can just see the spell sounds and effects becoming very repetitive and annoying cause they're sooo in your face compared to other games and i think they need to be toned down abit. I also don't like how people are just standing still and pressing buttons, i mean i'm going to use a example of WOW because in that game your enemy will run around you so you have to manually turn around and keep up with them to cast your spell which is fun. I also hope them rings around the base of the characters will be optional cause they're butt ugly and i hope they don't have any form of auto faceing your enemy cause that would ruin PVP too.
Overall though it's a improvement but still a long way to go.

From looking at that, my guesses seem correct. The game will have it's gameplay but it suffers in animation. I don't mean how authnetic the characters move; like goblins hobbling along. The animations aren't natural or smooth in transisition, and sometimes too robot like for the different characters.
As I've learned the hard way, the run cycles for the smaller characters don't have enough bounce or feeling of weight. Not all the tiny guys have to move in quick small steps. Look at dwarf females in WoW or the gnomes with their large strides. If you watch a real midget walk they take large steps for the size of their body.
The map looks excellent. It has great layout and actual paths and bottlenecks. (Something I wish WoW had in their PvP maps from time to time.) I cant really comment on character graphics right now since this could be lowbie combat in crap gear.
Hopefullyt he animation in this game will get as smooth as WoW or even Lineage 2.
I love love love the fact that combat takes time in a one on 1 or even a 3 on one. It reminds me of old school WoW PvP when players actaully took time to kill each other.
Thanks for the video. makes me want to play a shaman!
