Brother came back from Iraq

My bro was serving in Iraq for 6 months. He came back last week. He said it was nuts there. They would do these night time patrols around the city and get shot at once and a while...  Then during the day little kids would come up to him asking for gum and candy  haha

Great to see children still love gum and candy.  Kinda reminds me of some border towns in the US from the sounds of it.

I'm delighted your bro came back safe and sound from that nuthouse, and hope that someone over here does something to make it so he's not sent back there again...or any other soldier, for that matter.

i am glad he is home safe keep an eye out on him , mine is still over there 2nd tour ( son)

when he was here at summer, we noticed when there were loud noises he "hit the deck" covered his head.

He woke up lots during the night and dealt with some night mares.

One thing we also noticed every meal was "wolfed down" and very good to him, didn't matter what it was.

Oh a cute thing was him smelling the freshly done laundry and seeing clean socks he was ticlked with the small things

The chances are good that he is doing fine.  The research shows that only 10% (roughly) of troops exposed to combat stress develop any long term symptoms of PTSD.  The other 90% either do not experience any symptoms at all or they develop mild issues (such as mild anxiety, remorse, mild nightmares) that resolve within 90 days.

LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)

    Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

I remember seeing my stepdad when he got home and smelled the sheets as my mom pulled them from the dryer! Hehe he about dived into the dryer. 5 minutes later he is snuggled in the bed with my mom who voluntarily gave up her whole day to snuggle. Sigh such love

That's great to hear! Let's hope many more on these boards can say the same soon as well.

Nice to hear that he's sane and in one piece as well. I've heard so many sad stories, and experienced a few myself. A nice, safe welcome is always something that makes you appreciate life, and I'm glad your family didn't have his story end in heartache.

         /salute

One learns to appreciate very trivial comforts when you've had to live without them for six to nine months.
