Now, many of us have it immediately following the patch and it's truly unplayable now. They managed to actually improve ATI performance a little while causing nightmarish issues on Nvidia cards.
Oh well, was worth a shot to try the game for free on preorder and I was enjoying it but honestly if this isnt something fixed immediately I guess its a good sign to not bother with it.

Yep there are some serious graphical issues with this new patch. Coincidentally though they solved my CTDs, so now they need to take it a step further and fix it all the way.
Makes sense, it is a computer program after all, it should work perfectly everytime on every single diffrent system on earth. Of course if this isn't immediatly fixed we may have to learn to be patient.
Sarcasm off...
I have a 8800 and it runs better then ever. Did you update your drivers, you may want to do that, Immediatly.
7600GT here and the game is running flawless after the patch. I was running pretty darn well before the patch though...
I hope they sort it out for everyone though, and quick like
Also you might want to note that most everyone in those threads has the latest drivers and it was working before the patch. And why should I or all those pay for a game broke at launch ? If its not fixed within a day I'll simply return the preorder , in this day and age there's no reason to fight a game to play it. They have said they are working on the problem so apparently they believe there IS one which is a good thing rather than genius remarks like your own that assume it cannot possibly be there problem. To me it's just a test to see how fast they fix it, I am not going to pay 50 bucks for something broke at the time of full retail launch (Tuesday).
So you might want to actually read the thread before posting drivel, immediately.

And excuse me for mentioning to update your graphics card after reading the content of you OP I thought you were a tard.
Once I and others provided more information to the devs, their response:
"This appears to be a different problem, and updating your drivers sure isn't going to help. Top server devs are currently on it though."
Honestly, as long as any dev is a) aware of a serious issue and b) working on it currently, that is all I ever ask of developers.
One thing about Potbs that I think few could argue with is that the devs are a hardworking bunch who really believe in thier product and want to see it being enjoyed by it fans. Just take a swing by thier forums and see for your selves.
Indeed. That and they are extremely open with their communication. I've been around since closed beta and all through open beta and now into launch and they have always been there with us, discussing exactly what is happening and letting us know where things stand.
True enough, I have always applauded FLS for the way they communicate with the community. However, working on it is not really acceptable as the game becomes a pap to play entity. I enjoy the game, and play allot, but I am really getting tired of the overall unprofessional product the game is - AvCom is crap, in game support is nonexistent, the server client network performance is terrible, for a game with sooo much instancing the seriously slow loading is excruciatingly painful, and for a game with only average graphics that are well dated by contemporary games of its kind the incredibly poor performance is just not acceptable.
It is one thing to be a small team and develop slowly; it is another to be in over your head and charging people to play a game with so many unfinished and unoptimized elements. FLS does deserve a lot of credit for their community involvement, but to date, the product in the box is substandard for a modern MMO. I believe PotBS can be a great game - but it is so far from that now due to technical problems and the unfinished AvCom that it really isn't appropriate to give FLS a pass as this goes retail.

same for me....worked fine pre-patch.....epilepsy-city post patch with an NVidia 8800gtx.
No problems here.
lol compared to what?? WOW, EQ2, CoH, SWG, ... on and on...
The MMO game with the best graphics out there right now is EVE.. and it makes WOW and all the other games look like a cartoons.. they use the same types of shading and texture mapping as single player games...
And as for POTBS the graphics are better then WOW and CoH, and SWG and even the games still in beta like Warhammer have graphics sub standard or equal to POTBS..
And asides from CONAN.. which looks just as good as if not better then EVE.. its not even released yet... and if you are trying to compare the graphics of an MMO to a single player games or a SIMPLE multiplayer games like FPS games and RTS games then you my friend are on crack..
Lol @ non-existent in-game support. The fact they don't advertise their presence anymore doesn't mean they're not there. Had GM Rhia help me out with an issue just the other day.
Everyone in my guild who uses an nVidia and had problems, saw those problems were gone when they rolled back to a previous nVidia driver. I myself have a nVidia 8600 GT nVidia driver that's 3 months old (yeah, so I'm lazy updating them if they work) and never had a problem.
On the whole, I think the PotBS devs are trying their damnedest to make certain everyone can play. And by the looks, they're getting there. The game is no worse than lots of (succesful) games that have been around for years. Anyone remember the disappearing globals and global channels in COH? The crashes when zoning? The detoggling when zoning (still in game)? The killer lag during Rikti invasions? And COH is a player and industry award winning game, that's been around for years.
And no, I'm not claiming it's bug-free. I just think the current bugs are not exactly game killers.
=p

Turn of your AA and AF it did wonders for me and my Bugs started after te patch. Ps ATI 2900XT. Not nvida.

Please, don't go there. Just don't.
As paying consumers we should not be lowering our standards on ANY product just because some other product was also poor.
Or do you want to accept any old crap on the basis that "Big Rig Racing" was far worse...?
Yes, well don't get me started on the subject of these "industry awards" either.
Sorry, but these subjects really push my buttons.
Your point about the bugs not being "game killers" is good though. My experiance with PotBS was that it was certainly playable.
"Perfection" is not a requirement - but we have to maintain some standards.
Nothing says irony like spelling ideot wrong.

Wow, you are right - PotBS understandably runs poorly because it has graphics so advanced as to put those 3 and 4 year old games to shame! PotBS doesn't look bad - but the graphics are 2006 at best, nothing terrible just nothing special and the engine is incredibly inefficient and the servers and client unstable.
The game FACTUALLY has no in game support system - to get support you have to go to a website and fill out an incident report.

maybe i am not noticing the problem. Last friday prior to the patch i had just bought an 8800gt (late christmas gift to myself )
i havent really noticed anything with the graphics....might be because i am still using xp pro? Or just very lucky? I run all the settings on max....including AA and AF
I haven't tried the game, (though I'm seriously considering it). But I just had to post in a thread with 'screwed the pooch' in it.
Who the hell are you, and why should I care?
Congrats! You are a victim of Trollstar!
I tried running in windowed mode as was suggested in the forums, and it does seem to fix the problem for me.
