Vincenz, are you trying to be condisending because you read a book about gay pirates?
I'm not trying to say that there is something wrong with liking to read books about man on man love just wondering why your being so condisending about it. You saying "you should do some reading" like I missed out on some intelectual breakthrough by not being interested in the gay pirate novel genre.

No, my point would be that theories about pirates and a predominant homosexual lifestyle are pretty well known. Hell, Daniel Defoe's books even touched on it. You, however, sounded shocked at the suggestion.
Those aren't novels, btw...they're non-fiction. (the books I quoted).

no, actually I defended a post that was pretty much historically accurate that you acted shocked to hear and attempted to turn back on the poster.
And no, it isn't "some pirates are gay" as in "some doctors or bankers are gay", it's more that pirating, as a career, and pirate colonies in particular, were almost like safe havens for gay marriage and lifestyles.
And my favourite thread and posts from the FLS forums today were:

Are you trying to argue that the statement I made that "some pirates are gay" is wrong. Historically speaking you would rather say that "most pirates are gay"? Sorry but I would argue that that is wrong.

I didnt mean to sound funny but real pirates wernt cool like the pirates in POTC real pirates many actually had homosexualy tendencies and many were actually gay, i think there were more homosexuals or practicing of homosexuality with pirates then heterosexuality.
