So, POTBS eh?

Right. So i played POTBS during some of the beta. And at that point, i didnt like it.

Right now i play Eve online. Awesome game.

But i have a few questions about POTBS:

Hows the PVP now? Can i atack anybody i want, if im a pirate?

Whats the market like? Is it another grind fest like wow, where you just raid stuffs and put it on the auction house?

Is this still a really crap game as im afraid it is?

Is it even a game to consider for a lonewolf?

You can attack anyone who is inside a pvp zone (that goes up when a port goes into contention). Optionally you can flag yourself as pvp so others can attack you and you can attack others who are pvp flagged.

There is leveling from 1 to 50. You can do it by either doing missions or killing npcs on the open sea.

There is no raiding in the game yet, will be added later, and it wont be the purpose of the game. Purpose of the game are port battles and conquest of the Carribean (RvR).

If you are a lonewolf then this game is quite good for it, but it does get lonely if you dont have other people to talk to. Thats why joining a good society/guild is always recommended.

PvP: If you like slow paced pvp with an emphasis on strategy and skill, regardless of lvl, then yes you would find the pvp fun and challenging.

Attacking people as a Pirate? : That is pretty much what you do as a pirate in this game, only limited by the contention zone which are easily created and dynamic. Its a great system IMO.

Market: Fair and balanced, with its own sense of PVP in that there is market warfare going on so to speak. Crafting plays a big part as well in the market, and IMO is a great system for someone who really enjoys the crafting side of games. Basically a crafter is a needed element of the game, and thats a good thing, I like seeing crafters feel needed and important, about time they got some love in a game that is not EVE.

Is it a grind fest like WOW: Yes, there is a grind, but some people like that sort of thing, I know I do. How else are you supposed to show off your e-peen if you can't grind more then the next guy. Is it as focused on shoving raiding and raid scheduals down your throat like WOW end game does? No.

Is it a crappy game: Nope, its fun if you like this sort of thing, really you need to play for yourself to see if it fits your tastes. The devs work hard and keep putting on more and more layers of polish on it, which makes me a happy boy.

Is it lonewolf friendly: Yup. At the same time though there is an emphasis on teamwork and grouping to reach lofty goals.

I hope I was able to answer some of your questions.

BTW, I don't even like the game and would still pay twice as much to play it as WoW any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

The grind here is what it is, it's not "go out and kill 50 hampsters and bring me the hampster tails" at least.
