This is a teaser that was posted today by PhAnToM on the VG forums.

And of course more bug fixes and polish.

About time they get the helmet gfx in.

It will be fun to see the reaction from people if they discover that their Über Plate Helmet of Ownage is in pink with a flower pattern though..

That is definitly a nice update going there. Although i no longer play Vanguard, the helmet fix will be something everybody still playing has wanted to see for awhile. Would love to see what some of the bug fixes are and how the riftway system is going to work.

Yeah, finally we can turn off the helmets =)

Helmets are nice but not essential.

Flying mounts for highlevel players will be cool of course.

Riftways ... we already have those ? And at any riftway theres flying mounts. If you have no money problem, you really have no problem anymore to get anywhere in about 10 minutes.

I never understood the technical issues with helmets... what has been the hold up?

How do the Riftways work exactly?  I found one ingame but haven't really thought about it again.  I've seen the Riftway shards for sale too.  Do you need to access a Riftway location to teleport to a different Riftway location you've visited?  Or do the shards work from anywhere?

    Vanguard riftways work like this:

    1. To be able to teleport to any Riftway, you have to visit it and click on it. If you have already visited it, you will get the prompt where to teleport when you click on the Riftway.

    2. To actually use a Riftway, you need to have a Riftway shard in your inventory. You can then select those targets you have already visited and unlocked - otherwise you'll get an error message. The teleport happends and consumes one Riftway shard.

Tip: Just buy a stack of shards - you can stack them up to 200, which however requires to pay more than 1 gold for it, so lowlevel players cant afford that many already. Still people often forget to refresh their stack and suddenly are stucked in the nowhere without a shard.

Helmets are a huge graphics hog and can affect the performance of the game. I know it sounds silly, but with all of the performance issues that Vanguard has had since launch they decided to leave helmets out to try and band-aid that issue.

Now that SOE has taken over and has been addressing performance issues they can put helmets back in.

The current Rift system they have is quite convoluted and I'm sure this is why it's getting an overhaul. Currently, to transport from one riftway to another you have to "unlock" the riftway you wish to travel to. This means you have to have visited that riftway before and you must have a shard in your inventory. Main city riftways are one-way, meaning that you can rift to them, but not away from them. Riftways are aslo on a tiered system. This means that a riftway in a level 20 chunk will send you to another level 20 riftway, but not a level 30 or level 40 riftway. Unless you have a riftway map or are familiar with the rift destinations, it can be very confusing.

EDIT: Anyone know if the character model revamp is going in UD4? I would like to take a look after that is pushed out, as I think that will be the single biggest performance increase for me.

Before they worry about giving us visible helmets, how about some visible players?

See the following map to go with the descriptions of how it works.  Bear in mind that currently you must have traveled by foot to a riftway to be able to use it in the future.  The best time to get all of these was when everyone had their free Randolph...

Anyhow, here is a map of the Riftway system.
