Sea battles are great

in Pirates of the Burning Sea

The detail and battles at Sea are great.  Its a game where stratagy works.  Like chess you position your ship according to the wind and strengths to get an advantage over the enemy.  The biggest problem with the game is the community.   Its really a bunch of immature kids flamming everyone and no real comradery what so ever.  I guess I got spoiled with community like Ryzom and Eve.  If you shut off the chat channels and just filter in your stats and system messages the game has tons of potential.  Its not just a shoot em up or pressbutton combat game when it comes to sea battles.  The hand to hand is a different story but most it done at sea anyway.

    What server and what faction do you play.  I am of the pirate faction on blackbeard and have yet to see any kiddies at all...it has a mature player base and everyone is helpful.

    I play a spanish freetrader on Rackham and I have not seen or heard any kiddies flame. 

    And Ship Combat rocks, I love how skill plays a huge role vs level.

    Hand to Hand is boring but it is fun sometimes.

    Are you referring to these forums (which is no community) or ingame? Here its understandable since its troll heaven but ingame on Antigua server ive seen nothing but positive reactions from fellow brits.

    I would have to agree as well. I dont see many leet speakers in this game. In my personal opinion this game is geared towards more of a mature audience of gamers instead of the simplicity of a hack n slash mmorpg game. So you will have kids bombard this potbs as a healtly troll should since its not what they are used to finding in a mmorpg.

    If you like RvR, being part of a guild community, strategic sea battles, a player driven economy and finally sailing the seas on the 1800s and taking over ports. You will like this game.

    If your looking for a WoW, EQ2, CoX or GW  type structure game, stay clear of this game. Me? I love it, finally a game that doesnt center around epic gear, machine guns and super heroes.

    Pvp port battles with 25 vs 25 are great and can be very intense! If You have not been in beta and experienced it...what You actually see in this game with port battles being disabled at the moment is only the tip of the iceberg...

      Really? During open beta I saw two or three occasions where the kiddies were making themselves known.  Other than that I have found the community to be exceptionally mature.  I'm playing on Rackham....perhaps other servers are different.

      The sea battles are what PotBS is all about..... they are great.
