I am super tired of the fantasy genre but the differences this game has to offer have me excited. The last time I was this interested in creating a Character was City of heroes.

They are having a showday on the 12th of this month with people being picked from there forums,I think it is people who are not in the closed beta so they can get a fresh response from people,I think a release date will depend on how this day goes and what the people think of the game.

Here is a link too the post..

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

    Ohh, i wish i could attend that : )

Maybe this actually means the release is only a few months away?

No North American publishing deal yet though. I would imagine there won't be a deal until well after the Eurasian release. I did read that there probably won't be an IP ban for NA players.

Hopefully they will arrange for a billing structure with integrity--like CCP does for EVE--and not some dodgy EU CC agency, as Dark & Light did.

I have to say I think the artwork is amazing. And today was the first time I looked at it after finding out it has a skill system. Will this be released in the US?

Yeah, looks like they're going to just leave us hanging, you can't play a game like that overseas... even with the fastest possible internet connection you will still have latency that will kill the gameplay.

I connect to the Eve Online servers in London from Arizona with no latency issues.

I play LOTRO on an US server and I live in Europe. No latency issues whatsoever.

However, there is the annoying problem of playing the graveyard shift due to time zone difference.

ER, don't most Aussies have to put up with this all the time?  Seems they do pretty well for the most part. I used to play WOW on an Aussie server (still based here in the US) and they normally didn't seem to suffer too much from lag issues.

The average Aussie complained about having 600 ms latency. That's a 20% dps loss compared to 200 ms players. It also means instant abilities aren't instant.

    It's a big deal.

Well as one of those Aussies I can tell you that you're right, it wasn't too much of a problem most of the time (my average ping was ~350, down to 250 at a good time on a good day), but it did make some things harder, like trying to hit someone from behind in melee as they were running away, or counter-spelling a 1.5 sec cast; but then WoW is an 'auto-attack' game, and TCoS isn’t so your more reliant on your reflexes (and ping) to dodge attacks, aim etc, as such I expect a high ping will be a bigger issue than in WoW.

That said I’m still looking forward to TCoS though and plan on getting it when it comes out as I don’t think the ping issue will make it unplayable, especially in PvE, and I don’t really care about becoming arena champ.

Whoops, what I read was Q4 2007. The release date could be anywhere this year. If we look at the game's situation, it's in closed beta, and if TCoS gets into Open beta in a couple of months then it should be a very late Q1 release or early Q2 release. But in all honesty....who knows?

Actually, from their own official forums, open beta is slated for April 08, release in Europe in May 08, and release in other parts of the world to follow in Q2 and Q3 of 2008.   US players will probably be playing AoC and WAR before this game.

They really need to update the Q1 release info on MMORPG.com

Did you read the post you were referring to?

It was posted on Jan 2007, stating that Beta in April 07, release in EU in May 07, and else where in Q2, Q3 07...

But since the time has passed and no info, the estimate is Q1 of 08 (remember it's 2008 already...)

Just want to point that out...
