Now the daunting question that comes to my mind is this:
Is there going to be a way in which items are removed from the economy ? Or will everyone have just about everything they will ever need within a few months of launching the game? (Diablo 2 softcore rings a bell, I myself played hardcore D2 where one lost items if they died but even then the loot system still enabled you to keep most of your gear.)
Has anyone heard any news on this ? I want to know what they are planing to keep the economy of the game alive.
Thanks for any feedback.

I hope they have enough sence that if everyone starts seeking for one item then more than half of the population has that item, that they do something to make it less appealing or harder to acquire. It would be pretty stupid if a week after release, everyone is using the same armors, and weapons.
That's the type of thing that made playing D2 on just regular unpassworded games kind of stupid. Most the time it was just "Runs" like Blood Run or what ever it was called where everyone would get together and massacre everything in that whole part of the game to get good experience or good items. If this starts happening in WoW, I might have to quit just because it will take a lot of the fun out of the game.
I do believe that Blizzard will be smart enough to do something about this type of stuff in game, so I think the economy should stay in tact for a good time. As long as items don't go to Ebay for sale, I will be happy. It was so stupid to see something being sold there. In a game for real money. I almost cried when my friend first told me he bought something from someone on Ebay for a game. That is how hard I was laughing.

I read somewhere (on blizzard site?) that items will age with use and will eventually break and disintergrate. I don't know if that is true but i believe that if the item is not soulbound to your character that it will indeed over time go away. However for the quest items that become soulbound i believe that all of the same classes will have the same items if they use quest items. I don't know if this is right so feel free to flame me if i have just spat out some crap!!!

Yeah, there's a way. It's called soulbinding. Player crafted items are bind on equip, certain really good drop items are bind on pick up, and some lesser ones are bind on equip. This means items are only going to be traded once, unless they're lower quality. Works great imo, crated items retain their value because players can't re-sell them over and over. Oh yeah, and so far I havn't seen durability on any items. I don't think they go away. That's why they're doing soulbinding, because there's no item decay.
Level 21 Troll Warrior and the economy seems fine thus far.

Like Vakktn said, most are bind on equip (loot anyways) and most quest items are bind on accquire. Bind on equip means you can still sell them but once someone equips them, the only way to get rid of it is either to destroy it or sell it to an NPC vendor. Bind on accquire means you can never trade it with anyone even if it isn't equiped.
Of course, this is subject to change but Blizzard doing it a smart way but having the most powerful items either only usable once or having them only be used by the person who picks it up.

I don't know what you're talking about.. I'm in the beta and there ARE good items at the auction houses. Depends on your level. One level the best 2h axe I could get was from a quest, after that there was this awesome one in the auction house. End game all your gear will likely be the really unique bind on equip, but that takes a while to get all that. Even all the lvl 45-50 ppl I inspect still wear some bind on equip stuff that you can get at the auction houses...
Believe what ever you want though... That's yer right. =P

hmm
Thats a intersting concept, soulbinding, but it does leave me with a few concerns. Now this would leave the economy with a grip of lower class items and there would be no economy what so ever for the higher class items if they infact are all soulbound. Which futher leads to the question of how can someone aquire the better gear without investing crazy amount of hours into the game(work and school leaves little time for fun these days )
Thanks for your feed back guys, much apreciated. I havent participated in forum much for quite some time now (AoE comes to mind)

I am not sure as to what type of player i am becoming myself . Online games are progressively becoming more and more of a community thing for me. I play with friends that i have known for years and we tend to play the same games . Ill wait and see as to what happens in WoW. All in all, Blizzard has only either meet or exceded my expecatation. This will be no different.

WoW seems to be designed with the casual gamer in mind. The Elite quest, which is the toughest for you to do, usually requires a group. This is normally a kill quest for a mob. I have yet to have an Elite quest take more than 30 minutes and most of that time was figuring out how to get on top of the hill where the mob was standing.
Quest rewards are either coin or gear (always experience).
