Good game gone bad !

delete5230delete5230 Member EpicPosts: 7,081

Vets continue to distroy this game for new players.Just the beginners zones have population, they are a mix of new players and high lv. alts.

You find your self feeling good in the beginning ( free trial). You buy  the game and its all down hill from there. Vets will not give you the time of day,  guild or no guild its the same.

Thousands start EQ2 every month and the same quit !

The only way to fix this game is to make servers for ONlY new players and keep the vets out. As it stands now, your only chance is if you have a dynamic personality, already great at grouping and never ever let anyone know you played WOW.

I'm mad because its a good game gone bad,and the deves don't care because they continue to sell this game over and over, only to keep the same players.

Done even think about telling me I'm wrong and Vets should not respond with there helping new players out comments ( helping with one quest is not help)

on Blackburrow server - players are very helpful

I found that the chat community in EQ2 is terrible, more so than any other MMO out there. Vets have a field day with new players. Everything is way above your head and beginners questions are ignored or rude replies.  ALL new players get this I watch the chat and see this continuously.

Like I say thousands start and the same quit, Why ?    Because of vets !

Alot of people are leaving the Nagafen Server because (as usual) SOE did not listen to the player base and has eliminated level locking. They went in favor of new players and forcing eveyone to go to lvl 80. Consequently, many longstanding T2, T3 PVP players are leaving.

Last time I was on Nagafen it looked like Vox, a ghost town.

SOE despite their claims to the contrary just won't listen to the established player base. They didn't learn from SWG and now EQ2. I hope that subscription levels for EQ2 continue to decline. Since SOE is always going to be a player here, one can only hope that declining revenues will someday force them to really LISTEN.

Also, some vets could be disgruntled because the game was changed in favor of the newbs. You could be experiencing some of that anger.

I had a different experience with EQ2. The vets on Antonia Bayle server were nothing but nice to us n00bs. I would try that server; being a RP Server people tend to be more mature.

I do have to agree about the empty areas except n00b zones. But the game is so big people will be spread out more.

Yes .. Because its just So unfair that Long standing Nagefen players can't Sit at lvl 20 and Twink out their character so they can destroy all the Noobs daring to attempt to play on PVP server with Noob gear....its just a Crime.

PvP was fubar'd from the start in EQ2, the game was designed for PvE which is why they took over a year to even put a PvP server up (could of been shorter but I remember it was a rather long wait).    Personally I dont think PvP belongs in EQ2 not because PvP is evil but the balancing issues seem to cause more chaos then they're worth not to mention all the bitchers that they can't sit and gank people anymore.

Dude, my twink enjoyed fighting other twinks. Some people griefed I am sure, but SOE never could understand that the level locked twinks enjoyed fighting the other level locked twinks. That was a blast. And now it's no more. We didn't lock so we could gank noobs. We locked because that's where the best PVP was.

You must work for SoE then eh?  Either that or you have physic ability? Neither huh.  Then please dont exaggerate and spin shit about stuff you could not possibly know.

EQ2 has the best community in a game that i have played.  I help out new players just like most people on my server.

Just because you had one or maybe two bad experiences dont come and preach lies here.  You know what i think, you sound like a kind of person who doesnt ask nicely, im guessing any chat you had in game came off sounding kinda demanding.  I bet you dont say please and thanks.  If thats the case, i wouldnt help you if you payed me and you only have yourself to blame.

I came for the community, and left because there were some non-community related aspects of the game that I didn't dig on.  But, overall, I found the community very helpful and fun.  This was one of the VERY few games that I didn't completely remove the chatbox from the interface.  I was on a role-playing server as well...if that makes a difference.

Also, since I feel a bit left out of this whole SOE Bash Fest that goes on in every game forum, I figured I'd relieve that feeling now.  To me, SOE is the Brad Pitt of online gaming.  I don't like the guy's acting, but he is in nearly every good movie.  I don't agree with some of SOE's practices, but damn they have their hands in a lot of great games.

Oh yeah, and I just have to respond to the "Done even think about telling me I'm wrong and Vets should not respond with there helping new players out comments ( helping with one quest is not help)."  You do realize that this is a forum, right?  "An assembly, meeting place, television program, etc., for the discussion of questions of public interest," as the dictionary describes it.  So, if you don't want people to discuss and/or question you, then why did you post this in a forum?

    Why am I here:

Because EQ2 is a good game, but I know the problem with it, and would like to see change so new people can enjoy it.

Why are you here Flem :

Because your a vet trying to recruit more to your dead game, You don't know your the problem. If you would like to discuss the game and help others you would be on the games forum not here. mmorpg is for ppl that like or dislike games THATS it . You should know that, if not read EVERY topic on this site and you will see.

My back round is WoW, EQ2,LOTRO,GW, a few free mmo's and my best D&D Online. Every game so far I am very social upbeat and just great at getting groups together. I ALWAYS help new players. I was helping my friend with WOW and found myself helping others in the starting area for a long time !!!

I am a trainer for new people at a large CD and DVD MFG in my area, and I teach Kung Fu on the side, so dont tell me I'm rude !

I don't have to work for SOE to know how maney ppl are playing it, I just know its Dead and I know WHY !!!

Because the Vets have it suppressed !

To the OP..if you start a new server for just new players at what point do those very ame "new players" become vets? and what would you do with those stinking vets that have rolled as a new player??

yet you *never* say what EQ2 server you played on - to give context

servers in ALL MMOs vary for community

  • DarthHoobDarthHoob Member Posts: 108

Grrrr! EQ2 community not helpful!? I've spent the last month playing a whole host of new characters ranging from 1-25 grouping and helping out new players, simply because I'm kinda bored with the endgame right now. And I KNOW I'm not the only one. On the EU Runnyeye server we have a fantastic community of players who bend over backwards to help and answer questions in the lower channels. Yeah sure, like all open channes the convos can get a little heated, and there's a fair amount of WoW bashing (ok who threw the WoW grenades? lol), but generally if a newb asks a question they get an answer within seconds. Ok, maybe a little fun is had with a trivially silly reply, but it's all taken as light-hearted fun and they get the help they need.

And it's not just the players. On Runnyeye we have 2 regular Apprentice guides who log in every day at peak times to help and advise people on the game. And both of these guys have said that the players on Runneye usually do they're job for them! We love helping out newbs! OK maybe not every single player ingame, but we have a huge array of people answering questions, helping start up new guilds, donating items, guiding through dungeons, etc.

If your not getting help on your server come over to mine! Or try Antonia Bayle, the people there are fabulous as well. I'm sure they're are loads of other servers out there with helpful players and guides too. It can't just be my EU server and the main RP server!

Currently returned to Norrath after disliking Hyboria.

I don't think there is ANY RPG pvp game that doesn't have this problem.  As long as there is gear and it improves your character there will always be twinks that have the best equipment that can be had on a server for their level.  You ever play pvp in wow?  There are guys there that play the same character class as you with twice your hp and a weapon that is twice as effective.  You got NO chance in hell...

Personally this is one of the reasons I don't think PvP is really compatable or run with RPG type games.  If it isn't a fair fight it isn't fun to me.  And it will never be fair in an item based RPG and if an RPG isn't item based then it isn't fun for me either since I like collecting gear and trying to be the best I can.

Personally I find pvp in fps games or squad games to be a million times more enjoyable.

Now as to the community, I play on najena.  I haven't played eq2 in over two years and was recently playing vanguard and then wow.  I decided after getting tired of grinding on wow to give eq2 another try.  I came back before kunark and just kinda played a bit waiting for Kunark expansion since my account didn't have any of the expansions.  So when Kunark came out I stared a new character in darklight forest.

Initially figuring out the chat system was a bit of a problem since I'd ask questions in /ooc and nobody replied.  It was kinda frustrating and I didn't know how to talk on the other channels.  After deciding to focus on figuring this out I learned how the chat system worked.  Since then I've had a great experience with the community.  I've asked some of the dumbest questions in the 1-9 chat and have gotten great responses.  I've asked for help with quests, immediate answers.  I've been lost trying to get somewhere, quick responses.  I wanted a spell and asked, it's costs X I can make it you want it?  Yes, It's in the mail.  Short of playing my character for me of sending me free stuff the community on Najena has been great!

So I'd say you have a bad server community?  I'd switch to Najena and try they are much better and I think that EQ2 is a great game.  It has improved so much since I last played it that it's hard to fully express.  I'm enjoying it move then any other game I've played.

The problem with the PVP servers in EQ 2 if you know anything about it EQ2 at all is the ability to TURN OFF XP as in make a toon get it to a pvp decent level and turn off xp.   Maximize everything and gank camp noobs.   It effectively made PvP servers Elite servers for those that got there First.  Thats what I was refering too not PVP servers for all games in general.

Point out a game that has the ability to TURN off XP and Maximize all your points & gear by sitting there bashing in people's heads?   Not one any level based game out there other than EQ2 makes you level.  No game can avoid twinks but EQ2's fundamental ability to turn off XP pretty much gaurenteed legal twinks.

What a load of crap. If you had a bad experience, that doesn't mean others have. Just yesterday, I took time out of my adventuring to show a newbie around Antonica so he could figure out where he was going. I do that consistantly. I'll also answer /tells for help, give random buffs, etc, and I don't know of a single vet that won't.

You are full of it. If you don't like the game, then quit, but those of us who play it don't appreciate lying.
