running eq2

in Everquest II

i know that no one really knows but i have an athlon xp2400 gforcefx5200 512mb ram Pc. i am not a technological guy- i dont know anything about computers. from what the eq2 site sez i should be able to run it- but my question is what should i upgrade and what should i upgrade it to?

    If anything Id upgrade the RAM to 1 GB and the Vid card to Geforce 6800 (if you can afford it). The geforce 6800 freaking rocks for me. I play farcry on max settings and its smooth as a babies bottom.

    how much does the 6800 cost? and about how much should the ram upgrade cost? (so i dont rip myself off Lol)

    go get a radeon x800 xt then you're be in heaven

    This is old.. but anyways, he could live on that for a while, atm upgrading comp is useless... wait until they make cards that can actually do all the eq2 stuff, spending 300-400 or even 500 dollars on a video card atm is not good.. wait like a year unless your rich and either get the new cards that are out then for like 500 dollars which will be alot better then spending 800-1000 dollars total.. or buy the cards that are new atm for like 150 dollars in a year :O If you want to wait, but want to upgrade.. i'd get like a geforce fx 5900... and ram if ya really want to.. a 1 gig stick costs anywhere from like 100-300ish dollars depending on quality.. in some cases buying 2 512 meg sticks is cheaper then one 1 gig.. for isntance atm - a one gig stick of pc3200 ddr ram is 124$, but 512 megs of it is 59$ each.. 2 512 meg sticks is 6 dollars cheaper...

    Will EQ2 run Radeon better then EQ live does? I've heard of people having problems with Radeons and EQ.

    Who knows.. I run the same thing except on an athlon 2200, and i can't play SWG with anywhere near the best settings and get an ok frame rate lol, and I would expect the system requirements of EQ2 to be higher since it's from the same developers.  I would think that probably the highest possible system you could get now, with the best possible video card might be able to run it ok.

    jd, I've probably already told you, but if you bought the best stuff out atm you could run it at max EASY.. but why would you when theres no cards out that can do all eq2 can? There a few things they put into eq2 that wont be used by cars for like a year... another good reason not to update and be happy with high settings :O.. highest settings are only a tad different... o, go and play ac2.. or farcry.. if you can run them ok n highest then eq2 should be good on high ;o well farcry is spiffy, prolly like running eq2.

    I didn't say you couldn't run SWG at max with the best stuff.. are you saying that the videos etc. for EQ2 are using video cards that won't be out for another year?  Are you in on the beta, is that how you get this magical insight?
