EQ2 does have pvp on specific servers though i can t comment on it much haven t tried it long enough to know. IMO EQ2 is much better game then LOTRO but it s also has alot more content and is more polished being an older game and all.

Eq2 does, in fact, have PvP servers.  It has two RP servers, both of which are very good in my opinion, but neither of which is PvP.  There is a RP-PvP server, too, but I've never played on that one.

As for which one is better, it's a question of what you like.  EQ2 has a bigger world, much more content, and the ability to play evil races.  LOTRO has a smaller world, a much more coherent storyline, and the LOTR environment.  Both are solid games, it just depends on what you like better.

You will NOT like LotRO.  The entire point of the game is Roleplay.

EQ2 is mainly a PvE game, although there are PvP servers.

So, if you like PvE, and not RP, then EQ2 is a very good game.

    EQ2 has NO PVP.

If you ever played a PVP game you'll agree with me.

    LOTR feels likes working.

They are both better, but at the same time, both worse...and both contain varying amounts of sickness and dopeness, and pvp.

If you want guaranteed pvp go to lotro, Ive found too much running in eq2 to ensure action when you want it, but on the other hand lotro's pvp is unique in it's design and may not appeal to you, although it is expanding in the future and will continue to do so.  eq2 does have pvp-ruleset servers, lotro does not, just one large quest-driven zone per server.  To be completely honest most of my pvp experience in lotro was beta so I can't make recent comparison, but I do know that I used to go nuts trying to find a decent fight in eq2.

summary is what you like will determine what you find better, so play the trials.

I would go with EQ2, LOTRO felt like an exact replica of WoW minus the end game and pvp. I know some are going to argue saying WoW copied some other previous mmorpgs aspects, while that is true and its understandable that all mmorpgs take something from older mmorpgs LOTRO has almost the exact same interface quest system, and etc... Only a few little things here and there like story missions that make it slightly different.

I would recommend EQ2 , especially if you like:

Game that not even brand new PC can run on full settings, but if you do it looks bad. And if you run it on low settings it looks like game from 2001.

Game that all players are lvl 70. And there is nobody of your level on whole server.

Game that has the  reportedly most unbalanced PVP ever

Game that is way way way past its hay day

    Enjoy!

Well LOTRO has a type of pvp, but that doesn't count so while EQ2 has pvp I find it hard to enjoy a game with zoning feels less immersive. Try L2 or WoW. Yes I realize WoW is instanced but hey they might fix the game someday..

The vast majority of the WoW world is NOT instanced.  Dungeons and PvP battlegrounds are instanced.  And that is a GOOD thing; prevents the endless griefing and camping that takes place in games like EQ.

In addition, there is now a healthy amount of world PvP (non-instanced) going on in WoW.  And more to be encouraged; WoW end-game is really moving towards PvP instead of Raid.

I don't play WoW anymore, but we should be accurate in our statements about the games.

Now Guild Wars, THAT'S and instanced game.

After trying both, LotrO is the better of 2 evils.

While its tough to have "dope ass"  RP AND pvp in the same game, id say LOTRO probably is what you want pvp wise.

LOTRO has the better storyline, because its based on actual novels, so its linear and follows well. If you havent seen the movies, then you might be slightly lost but thats not a completely bad thing. You don't really need to know who Tom Bombardil is. But the storyline is the selling point in LOTRO; all quests follow the book pretty much (lest they be sued) and the fan community actively RPs quite a bit.

Pvp is monsters vs developed characters. Your monster starts out at lv50, but you have to do some quests to get its skills higher and stronger to compete with the people who went purely PvE. Most times, the PvE characters are stronger pound for pound... But if youre a "dope ass" pvp, this shouldnt be much of a problem for you. You should welcome the challenge, after all, you wouldnt want too easy a victory.

    Would you?

EQ2 is a good game it itself, has some pvp but mainly thats not why people play EQ2.. Thats why its called "EVERquest 2". People who play this game like to quest a lot and don't feel the need to test their measure against other live players. They are content with the storylines and mobplay.

But be warned, people in LOTRO dont talk like you posted, they generally dont do any kind of slang or trash talking at all... even in the pvp part.
