Horde vs alliance

abnesherabnesher Member UncommonPosts: 112

HI everyone,

Any of u got some info on the horde/alliance relationship ni WoW?

Can races from horde and alliance group together, or is it just eternal PvP-war between the two?

I just need to be sure that i can group with my friends when (yes i said WHEN, dammit!) i get into EU-beta

You can trade with each other on the booty bay. But you can´t do the other things.

  • VelmontXVelmontX Member Posts: 33

hey -- is the relationship between the two factions different on a pvp server - than the other - i guess if i read things right - you have to learn a skill to talk to opposite factions -- iv read that somewhere else - but im unclear as to the differences in the servers regarding faction relationships if there is one

I don´t think you have to learn their language to trade with them in Booty Bay. It´s an auction house there. I think it´s like that in all servers.

aaaww....well, from a gameplay-perspective it opens for some nice possiblities, but it sucks that I wont be able to play with my some of my friends should they choose to play horde-races :/

Guess i have to convince the more evil elements to join the alliance :)

Horde isn't evil. The alliance is evil, it's from them that the forsaken was born in the first place.

I think your friends should be convincing you to play horde instead. image

I am playing as a Night Elf when this game comes out for release and I plan to try out the Undead as well, none of the other characters look appealing to play as to me. Humans are always plain jane and overused in these games so I'll leave them alone.

What about the Trolls? They look like they could be a distant relative to the Night Elves. Different skin tone and a slightly different composure is all that sets the two races apart unless you include factions. The Undead are just Humans that have been plagued. So I am not too sure I would play them then exclude the humans.

I don't want to play Night Elves now. I used to when I first heard about this game from a friend of mine, but now that I have seen the history behind them and their true nature, I am not really all that hyped up about them. It is just something that drives me away that I can't quite put my finger on. Not to mention how many people are going to play a Night Elf right off the bat, so yeah.

Even though this game includes a lot of customization, if Blizzard doesn't add more some of the people playing Night Elf will end up all looking the same. So that is another reason I don't want to play the more popular classes.

I am going to stick with the Horde until I get high leveled characters and then I am moving on to the Alliance and my Paladin.

I'd like to play all races/classes but here's how my layout for them will be:

    Orc Warrior

    Undead Rogue

    Dwarf Hunter

    Tauren Druid

    Nightelf Priest

    Gnome Warlock

    Human Mage

    Human Paladin

    Troll Shaman

Sadly, I too like Lugnard have thought about this. I also want to play every race and class. However, I'm trying to mix things up a bit into which race I feel fits each class best, instead of the other way around. My list follows as:

    Night Elven Rogue

    Undead Warlock

    Human Mage

    Dwarven Paladin

    Tauren Warrior

    Troll Priest

    Orcish Shaman

    Tauren Hunter

    Night Elven Druid

I might mix things up a bit in order to find a spot for a Gnome... I'd probably switch the NE rogue for a gnomish one instead. Or, I might just make ANOTHER rogue character. depends on how long I play this game... which also depends on the amount of coursework I have after the game is released.

Hrmm... Let me give it a shot. I will even throw in gender.

    Troll Rogue, Male
    Undead Mage/Priest. Female
Human Mage/Priest, Female (opposite of whatever my UD is.)
    Dwarf Paladin, Male
    Tauren Warrior, Male
    Orc Shaman, Female
    Troll Hunter, Male
    Night Elf Druid, Female

I color coded them because those are the colors I think of when i start to think about each of these races. No brown for Tauren, though. I am quite the nerd, thinking about color when I think about race. Strange, huh? I put the Night Elf last because it is the last thign I will play. Other than that, there is no particular order.

It would be great if there were a few zones where you could team up with players from the other side, so you can play with your friends and stuff...atleast, i think so.

    Not account.

    Server, they said server.

    Common misconception...

But no, they said "server" not account.

Yeah, Dracius is right. If they had said account, I wouldn't be here right now.  I would probably be cheering on another game. Not being able to share servers with different factions is pushing it. So if they said not even on the same account, that would break this game for a lot of people.

Right now there is a lot of discussion in beta on wheter blizzard will implement that you can one horde character on a server, any new character you create on that server must be horde also.  (Same thing with alliance).  It is not implemented yet in Beta but they are talking about.

Well, when one looks at the idea of the Race Wars and raids and stuff, it completely makes sense why they wouldn't want you to be able to play both sides of the war on the same server. It just gives that sense that it really isn't important. However, if you can only play one side, that's where your loyalty is going to lie and you're going to feel that much more connected to the war and etc, etc.

They don't want people playing the alliance to take lands, then everyone switching to the horde to fend it back off, and it all going in one endless cycle like that. I think the idea of only one faction per server is good, and I certainly won't mind setting up on a different server anyways... I'll just tell my friends to play alliance on the same server as me, and ditto with the horde.

Yah i'd be fine if the put only 1 fraction on a server beacuse on retail there are going to have way more servers than they have now. They only got two now PvE and PvP. If they do have more than one fraction on a server they are going to have to balance out war and raids. They will have to put something like a login timer where after you log out of of WoW during a war you cant get back it for 10 mins. I duno thats just a suggestion =P

I'd much rather just have to switch servers. A war could sprout up that you have nothing to deal with. Right when that happens, you need to go rest at an Inn. I wouldn't want to wait 10 minutes just to switch characters while the other is resting.

Just switch servers if you want to play a different faction. It isn't that big of a deal.

I agree. DAoC has the same concept and no one complained about that. Plus in DAoC, you can play/group up with other realms on the PvE and the Free for All PvP server.

I just think it would make more sense to restrict allowing only Horde or Alliance (not both) on one server to prevent conflicts from occuring (you could get pked by an Orc, then log on your horde guy on the same server and just spam the guy who killed you over and over). If you want to play as the other races, just go onto another server... simple as that.
