Should I get the game?

I need an honest opinion, and im going to give some backround trust me!

I played the game at the end of beta for about a week. I mainly played a minstrel only got up to level 13ish from what I remember. I also tried out hobbit for a bit, play a bugler, and was enjoying that until the beta ran out.

I never picked up the game because of the lack of grouping in the beginning areas i was at 1-10. I was looking to pick the game up now with its price tag being 20 bucks, with the 9.99 a month deal. The Way I look at it, I  could get this game for 50 bucks and play for 4 months or get some other mmo like Pirates  for 50 bucks and play it for one month???

Now I also did alot of PvPing when i played with the whole MP system, basically this all leads to this.

Has there been any improvements to the "Minstrel" system the "MP" system. Or anything else since launch that deserves me looking at the game again? Remember i never disliked LORTO just didnt have a real force to push me to buying it.

Thanks again,

-Jive

Yes--it becomes heavily reliant on partying at later levels--to the point were it is frutrating me--I'm on a dead server and there is no one to quests with.  Not sure if the game community is growing or not.  Its a shame too, because it is really a nice game.

on another note, choosing a game based on economics doesnt sound like a very rewarding road to travel down.  if thats the game you want to play, spring for it--even at 20$ compared tp 10$ a month thats like 30 cents a day.  i pay 10 times that just to cross a bridge to get to work everyday--and thats just one way.  Even a youngster could come up with an extra 30 cents a day.

Hope to see you playing Lotro though--its a great game.  Just be sure to do some research and find a server with alot of players on it.

I played the game for a while and have to say it is by far the best i have played and in my own opinion it is much better than wow or other such games. Just so u dont get the wrong impression i stopped playing due to other commitments on my time and it just wasnt worth the cost for the amount i was playing. I played minstrel for a while when i played and enjoyed it very much as i did not see any major problems in the class and i played in many different parties and saw how minstrells could be a great asset.

So finnally i would reccomend that if you are going to get an mmo it would be this one and you never know i might see you there one day.

If you like Minstrel, they were made more well rounded in the last update (Book 11), giving them the ability to do more damage and make them a little more viable solo, while still always being welcome in a fellowship.  Burglars are about to get a few buffs in the new update (Book 12) coming out soon.

MP has not changed from what I have heard except for the fact that it is still be balanced and they are adding a new underground area called Ettendeep in Book 12.

Got to make your own decisions though, I have been playing since November and really enjoying myself...I play a Minstrel as my main.

It's not worth your time and money. Plenty of other MMORPGs out there which offer far more interesting content. If you like LOTR you may love it at first but if you are hardcore LOTR you will be tearing your hair out at how they change the lore and story around, adding characters/quests, events, that didn't happen in the book. Especially their tainting of the main characters. I'm sure someone thought,"It would be awesome if I could run around in a dungeon with Aragorn!" so they add alot of junk like that even though Aragorn never did jack squat in "Generic Dungeon #121235", etc. It really takes some of the heart out of the LOTR at these cheap gimmicks to appeal that type of gamer with no respect for the sanctity of the trilogy (hahaha).

On that note, you have to know that there is no Mordor, Gondor, Rohan, or any of that in the game and the only expansions so far are more forgettable places no one cares about. They also made up some of their own towns and such which aren't in the book. This is "Turbine's LOTR" not "Tolkien's LOTR".

    Seriously.

This is like if World of Wacraft came out but there was no Azeroth, Horde, Lorderon, Ironforge, etc.

People read the WoW books and play the WoW games but a MMORPG with no Azeroth? No Alliance? None that stuff?

This is what LOTRO is like. You have a few places, like the Shire and the village Bree (I love it when ppl try to claim it's a city lol), and that's about it. This is no joke.

People keep claiming it will come out in expansions and this it was wise of Turbine not to put this stuff in the game right away. I think it was greed and utterly stupid. Put in the big stuff, add the rest later. You will have an awesome game.

There is no official plan for these places, no target date or known development announced as far as I know.

The population is dwindling and some servers are utterly dead.

I expect the game to be dead in the next 6 months; end of 2008 at the latest. There is no way they can go back and develop all these areas in time to compete with the PLETHORA of other MMORPGs coming out onto the market.

Nice old fashion trolling...got to give you that.

However, your posting history gives you away.  I mean, you seem to have an unhealthy oral obsession with a certain part of the male anatomy.

Your thread "Can not be classified as a "Game" and Licks Sack Anyways" obviously a classic literature piece.  How about your other classic game reviews "Is it true this game really does suck buffalo balls or is it a decent play." and "Bottom line, this game is "Bullsh**t". There isn't a better word to describe it. It "sucks", "blows", "bites", nah it's just plain "Bulls**t."

The game is going to be dead in 6 months....lolz.

Whining about how you can't play as Aragorn....lolz, so you would have thousands of Aragorns, Borimirs, Legolas's, Gimli's, and Frodo's running around instead of people having their own characters.  Not releasing content as greed ..really...and then giving free updates.  I see and your game that does has not had a paid expansion yet and gives free content is??

*cracks whip* Back under the bridge with you *cracks whip*

Yes, nice bit of trolling from Bortis.

    Hey there,

I was in the last few weeks of beta also and never went with retail.  I bought the game at Christmas and have enjoyed my month.  I am renewing my sub and am glad I gave the game another shot.
