On the PvP server there is mass pvp between guilds as well as duels/griefing and so forth. On the PvE servers you can challenge a player to a duel.
But tbh my opinion of VG's PvP is that it is pretty weak. If you are looking for a rich PvP experience I advise to hang out for 08's 2 big titles or give EVE a shot if you've got a bit of patience.

I concur, the VG pvp experience is not only imbalanced, but it wasnt even remotely well thought out. This reflects in the fact that there are very few people even on the PVP server.
Oh, I am used to there being no people to play with. I dont like it, but im used to it. As you may be able to tell, I am a star wars nerd (my avatar is Grand Admiral Thrawn), so I am a SWG vet.
I just want to say that I am on the PvP server and it is live and kicking. I was expecting much worse actually, with constant griefing and such, but the huge world makes it easy to carve out a place of your own. And, for me being a druid, the PvP I have seen so far is quite fun. I die some, I kill some and then I escape from some.
A sign that the server isnt dying is that I keep selling my stuff in the auction house so I guess someone are buying them
The only thing I wish is that there was something out there worth fighting for. Like a castle or something.
I have given up on trying PvP in games that have just tacked it on near the end of the development cycle. EQ2 was the last straw for me. My suggestion would be to wait on WAR or AoC if you are looking for a PvP game.
Sartok is the least populated of the servers, but I find plenty of players who try and attack me, keeping me on my toes. But I agree, the pvping needs some love, to encourage more fun play, and not just ffa ganking.
There was two pvp servers...one had factions(where I had my most advanced characters) and an FFA server. They killed the faction server .The FFA has zero interest for me.So I have stepped away.
Sigil has done nothing to facilitate pvp. Many x DAOC players would have jumped all over VG...if they would have don'e even minimal things to encourage them.We told Sigil that...got zero response.
PvP in Vanguard is the most uncontrolled and primitive implementation thinkable of.
Theres not even safe zones, you can be killed while crafting or while being afk in town.
Theres nothing to fight about, just the other guys purse.
But for all I know, PvP class balance isnt as bad in Vanguard as many people want to claim. Sure there are classes which are screwed. But so was I in Lineage 2 on a Shillien Elder, L2 being a real PvP game, and seemingly even much worse than in Lineage 2.
And even in WoW, so I heard recently, the Priest and another class (Warlock ??) where ruling all other classes in PvP, at that time.
