WTH is going on with FLS,SOE,D2D and PotBS

All I can say is WOW! I knew it would be a cluster **** to try and get logged into today so i made up my mind not to even try for about 5 days. I decided after reading here to head over to the official PotBS forums about the state of the game and all I can say is wow.
Trying to filter through the 1 million + threads about a botched delivery system, credit cards being charged up 7+ times on account creation, keys promised a week ago not arriving, SOE file errors, SOE launchpad errors, Keys being already activated and not allowing players to enter them..... the list goes on for hours.
I hope FLS can get a hold on this situation soon or they are going to have a mob on their hands and I'm not talking about the MMO term mob of a fluffy wolf to be killed over and over for exp. I mean a real MOB who is gonna burn this M**********R down pookie. Just like that guy in Herold and Kumar go to white castle......
Think I might hold off till next week to try and sort out my D2D key issues and the ensuing headache to follow.

honestly..all fanboism aside...i didnt have any issues. I went to best buy, picked up my game, installed and patched in under an hour, went online, submitted my key codes, entered my boarding pass, picked a subscription (which charged me 0 bucks) and then signed on. Gues i just have some good luck

i actually like the game alot, the ONLY aspect i find fault with atm is the avatar combat, which is pretty generic and poorly done at the moment...but FLS says they will work on it on the coming patches, but that only makes up a small portion of the game. Sea battles are alot of fun, and i cannot wait for the RvR/port battles to get underway. They had it turned off during preboarding so that zones were not taken over right away prior to launch.
Economy, i find, is very complex, and ports have their own resources, which by taking them over gives your nation those resources. I compare the game alot more to a chess/strategy game than a hack and slash, with tools like port control, economy, trading, smuggling, etc as your tools

Ran into no problems.

I think im going to head over to D2D and download the game too...
Hope its different then Eve, Dont get me wrong Eve is a great game but I just cant get into it at all, im used to DaoC, EQ WOW UO type games. So hope that POTBS is not too similar to EVE .

I know what they wanted. They wanted the same thing every gamer wants.
You go to your local game store and see a new box on the shelf... you pick it up and look at it... looks interesting. You system meets the specs... okay... you buy it. On the way home you start to get a little excited.
You get home and open the box... there's a key code... and a disc which you drop in your drive.
The drive hums and up comes the splash screen and then the installer windows... you follow the instructions which if done right just involve you clicking "OK" a few times.
You skim read the manual as your OS takes over and you get that message about new software installed "do you want to run it now?"

About now you have to enter the Key. OMFG-IHOP-EIDO-NTFU-CKTH-ISUP ...

That is how a gaming experiance should start.
But then FLS signed SOE.
Now please - don't start with the SOE hateboy crap.
I had nothing against SOE prior to this. I don't care about SWG, Vangard, Sigil, MxO, Planetside, Smedy etc.
I just wanted to see FLS get a fair run. They worked hard and deserve a fair shot.
But let's be honest, everything SOE have touched in relation to this game has been well below standard.
There won't be gamers picking up the game from of a shelf in most of Europe or half of North America and a good proportion of those that do will have trouble with key entry either because they never got a key or the key is "invalid".
The online retailers appear confused - which again falls on the distributer.
And even when a player gets through all that there is still the SOE launcher and billing screw ups waiting to ruin the whole experiance...
There are people who won't like the game and will leave because of that. Fair enough.
But sadly there are also people that will leave because the front end is badly managed and run. That part should have been transparent.

well the retailer (gogamer.com) resent me the preboarding keys...then after telling them thats not right they sent me this email
"I was instructed just now to re-send the Pre-Boarding and Landing Party keys to you. I did that, but obviously you are looking for your Launch Key. That is in the mail along with your retail boxed copy of your game. I’m sorry, but we are not opening boxes and providing Launch Keys prior to shipment. We simply do not do that. I know some folks are upset that they have to wait until their box arrives before they can get to playing, but that is out of our control. Sony designed it that way and did not ship the retail box to us early enough so we could ship prior to the release date. As far as I know all the other online retailers are doing it the same way we are. If not, that’s news to me. Whatever shipping method you chose will dictate how fast you receive your retail box. I’m sorry for any inconvenience, but Sony did not take this scenario into consideration and we don’t like it any more than you do. Other MMO launches have allowed Beta and Pre-Launch players to continue playing after launch while there box was in the mail. Unfortunately, Sony chose to do it differently.

ha typical sony crap. its almost like SOE want this game to fail in order for FLS to fold so SOE can buy out this game on the cheap. stupid devs over at FLS should of saw this coming. since they put out a prouduct that was not screwed up on release day so SOE moved to plan B and that is to scare away customers at release by screwing them over. once FLS cannot cover their end of things well you know SOE there to save the day with their $$$.....

Erm... this is me trying to figure out what his post had to do with SWG? Seriously, get over the paranoia about SWG vets. There are valid complaints going on about how SOE has handled their end of this situation since freaking 2 months ago. It hasn't improved and, in fact, is now worse than it was back then.
I understand not wanting SOE haters to spam threads but when the statements are legit then you really need to "GET PAST IT" and realize that SOE has f'd up by the numbers here and isn't improving. They're doing more damage to this title than any problems FLS could have had. People will tend to forgive bugs and laggy servers. People don't tend to forgive a company screwing with their wallets.

Its people like you who annoy me the most, people who come here just to tell others to get over it. How bout you get over the fact that people will do what they want, when they want and nothing you say is going to change that. Sound like a good idea?
Anyway i had played the game in beta and i was ok with how the game was, i didn't like the avatar combat and the quest were kinda generic. The ship combat is fun and the variety of ships was nice. But dont pass it off that a company wont do something like this, you just never know anymore with these companies and the tactics they will use to gain the upper hand.
I would not put it pass SOE on trying to hurt FLS, it could mean a number of reason for trying to hurt another companies MMO, like maybe afraid of them taking subs away from SOE games. If SOE can hurt that company enough where they have to sell, well guess what... SOE comes in and buys them out to gain another game and their subs.
Remember, its a dog eat dog world out there and any company will do what it takes to be top dog, and SOE is no different, its just how they go about doing it that matters.

BTW, do some research guy. SOE, regardless of how bad they screwed up SWG...has no such track record. Know why Matrix fans still get to play? Because SOE bought it out. Know why Vanguard fans aren't on this forum screaming it's not enough like Vanguard? Because SOE bought it out. SOE has actually saved a helluva lot of games since the SWG fiasco...it's time to let go.
Hmmm... SOE has a PBAE spell that turns anything it touches to S#17, this is nothing new. Our boy, Vince, here probably works for SOE. I never even played SWG, but I did play EQ & PS. I mean, just look at SOE's track record, it's like following a skidmark down some tighty-whities: EQ (great, til SOE got their hands on it), EQII (LOL), PS (damn... shouldawouldacoulda), SWG (LMAO), MXO (yes, this really happened), VG (again? yes, again), and now PotBS.
EVERYTHING it has touched has turned to mierda.
I think SOE is a rich man's bet. There are prolly two trillionaire, old, white dudes betting on how long a company can shovel S#17 into consumers' mouths before people actually get a clue. Time to get a clue.

They kept charging people for months after cancellation with Vanguard.
They continue to overcharge european and UK players by 50% because they refuse to change the valuta.
All their GM's and QA staff that does billing is actually in india.

actually, im not a swg fan before or after CU. i play eq, eq 2, and even vangaurd, so please take that generic response and place it else where. i enjoy some of the games not the damn corp and their shady practices. i could care less about what soe did with swg, i dont hold any grudges against soe for what they did. just not my business since i dont play or even liked star wars so..im just a paying subscriber who dont like to be fed from the dog dish. it dont matter if it is sony, hitachi, or bloody general motors. if a company likes to scam and are completely dishonest to customers over and over again for years now well its just plain common sense to see the bs that comes from corps that are just there for the $$$. so take your shill self and move back to the SOE boards thanks
