if you wish to defend swg nge please go up to the other forum. this forum was made for those of us upset with the game by mmorpg.com cuz they understand how upset we are and want to help us. so please go back up to that forum and start begging people to play swg. i think it's sad when you fanbois need to lie and beg to get people to try out swg.
I think its sad when people like you have to lie to new players interested in the game and when you lie to YOURSELVES that you have "won". You havent done anything, all you' ve done is wasted your time.
oh yes me and my fellow vets are the ones lieing.
not soe who lied to us about the game time and time again.
not the fanbois who claim the game is good in anyway.
i have 250k friends who showed soe how much they enjoyed being lied too. we would have quit cu but they did leave some things in that made the game fun. and in the end they would have rolled the game back to pre-cu.
and we did win you fanbois are now begging people to come back. you are now lieing and saying the game is good to the newbies. most of whom i will start telling to go to eve a game that when ground combat comes out will blow ever mmo out of the water. i bet in the next two weeks soe will start begging people to come back. and by the end of the year sony will shut soe down. they don't need soe rep driving the ps3 down.
and i haven't wasted my time i've gotten thank you's from people who almost tried the game.
We are not begging people to come back, they're doing that one their own, we were asing people to come to these forums to help counter your pathetic arguments. The game is good in many people's eyes; it may still need improving, but thats what they are doing. You are the ones (or one) who are lieing to newbies.
As long as you're happy with the thankyous from people you have deluded and arent expecting to achieve anything else then thats fine. I garuntee you swg will not shut down by the end of the year so dont get your hopes up.
REAAALLY?! ok.... then i will ask something simple.. since no one can seem to do it.... give me a screenshot of a busy theed.. or a busy coronet.... you have to have a timestamp on your chat to prove that its current and you cant use guild shots... pretty easy
otherwise... this "blah blah blah people are coming back" crap i can never see get backed up by evidence....never happened.
By the way 2-4 people comming into the vet section of these forums and saying crap.. really doesn't mean jack crap.. i can make 15 alts if i truly wanted to.. its that easy.

As for my proof that there isn't that many .... here:

Please do so.... this is not a joke... i am calling you out on this... prove to me (and many others of course) that there are tons of people in the game.
People are currently panicing about the low numbers on their servers.... the above URL is just one thread.
Yes the numbers are low, it's a 4 year old game with a bad rep. And really from what I've seen on other games the numbers are just not as good as they once where. Believe me you want to see a lower Player Pop then SWG? Hit a Hellgate:London server, it's not really packed... Also there is WoW just hitting 10 Million Players, dare I say WoW has become the MTV of the MMO World... Or umm something like that. So yes the numbers are not going to be high.
And yes servers are ghost towns. Kauri is one and I'm most likely going to be moving my main sometime in the next few days over to Starsider. With Player Pop's, Bria is big as it as been. Bloodfin is the 'PvP' Server if you will. Starsider is doing well from what I've seen. And they maybe one or two more... Still yes some Server are for the most part d e a d. And yes SOE should really be trying to work on some fix for this or talking about it. I do know a few people who quit outright due to their servers being dead.
Also Theed and Coronet are no longer really 'hubs' if you will. Most Players stick to Mos Eisley as it's the 'main' Town... For the most part you see this in other MMO's, one town becomes the 'main' town for the Player Base to go too and hang out in, in UO it's Britian. SWG it's Eisley... Still most of the PvP isn't happening in Theed anymore, mostly due to higher level Imp NPC's spawning in. So the main PvP is for the most part at the GCW Bases or in Restuss. And Coronet, well on Kauri Coronet died right after the CU hit. Was dieing before that really...
So yes SWG doesn't have big insane numbers, and before you tell me how "See! The NGE killed the game off!!!" The numbers where dropping at the end of 2004 and in 2005, I saw a good amount of people leaving for WoW. All the NGE did was get people to leave faster.
Still yes the numbers are not high, but on some servers they are doing 'well'.
People are currently panicing about the low numbers on their servers.... the above URL is just one thread.
Well I'll add this much.. Someone had mentioned how busy Starsider was now.. in a thread I replied in today somewhere in this mess. Anyway..
I was like ok haven't been in game for a week and station pass hasn't shut off. So I logged in..
Theed had a total of 6 people..
Coronet had 2..
Now Mos Eisley there was.. probably 30 to 50 people.
Oh don't get me wrong I'm not defending the "its alive" claims.
There was 200+ waiting in buff lines in those 3 cities days before the CU went live.. on Starsider.. and I mean a line of 200+ PER city..
I went all around.. new areas blah blah empty empty.. biggest crowd was Mos Eisley.
So as I was writing this I logged into DAoC which is a pretty dead MMO relatively. There is more people at 2am pacific time running around Thid battle ground.. than I saw on ALL of Starsider prime time.
Why do we still have to have these BS arguements?
If you like the game... they go PLAY the game. Don't go to forums and lie to people about how alive the game is. Believe it or not WE CAN log in.. and see.. that the game is not well.
It almost seems like it should be some form of fraud.. to try to convince people to play a game based on outright.. BS..
If you like the game as it is.. FINE.. go play it. But don't lie to people to try to convince them to spend money to play it.
There are no winners in this entire drama.
SOE lost a ton of subs.
Many people lost the game they loved.
Other people still play a game that is more broken in the NGE.. even tho its been live LONGER than the original version.
If they had spent 2+ years FIXING the Pre-CU version.. it would be better NO matter how you try to rationalize it as being otherwise.
Anyway..
If you enjoy the current game.. I honestly am happy for you. Just don't make up BS to try and convince people to play.
I'm certainly not trying to convince you not to play.
If you can find fact based reasons for people to play that's one thing.. but I get so tired of the Ob's.. of the world and those like them. That can never produce proof but talk of this huge population that NObody else can EVER find.

Lets clear some of that up.
Starsider 'is' doing better then other servers. Don't believe me? Log into Kauri for an hour and try to find someone. Believe me it's not fun having my main toon on a server that is really dead. I'm just moving to another server that does have more Role Play on it. And more Pilots as well... It's what 'I' myself am looking for.
And that happens in MMO's. Believe me I played on a UO Server called Baja for a number of years before moving to Great Lakes. Baja was for the most part dieing and or dead. And remember this is back when we only had really 3 MMO's to pick from. Everquest, UO, Asheron's Call... Not the 30+ MMO's we see to the left, and that's not looking at how many free MMO's are around now as well.
So really would have the past 2+ Years been better if they did work on the Pre-CU system? Maybe... Who knows... I've said my views on the Pre-CU about a billion times and really I don't give a damn about it anymore. What 'I' want is to go and play a game based on Star Wars, and I am a Pilot Player... I just need more people to fly with.
And am I trying to convince the old Vets to come back and play? Not to sound mean, but again I could careless if any of you come back. Sorry but ya know I've been playing MMO's for 10+ years now. Well if you want to count Neverwinter Nights on AOL as an MMO... Still I spent a good deal of time on UO telling people that the game is fun and not to hear the upset Vet Players there.
What I 'am' trying to convince some of you to do is to just get over it... Wanna talk about how you had fun in the old days? Fine, hell get a party going in Vegas about it... By get over it, what mean is to just come to the understanding that the Pre-CU isn't going to come back. That people do enjoy the game, and dear god maybe, just maybe if others tried it out maybe they would enjoy it too!
10k players wouldn't be enough for them to keep the game running. If that were true it would have been canceled and closed a long time ago. Hell NCsoft said their car game wasn't profitable because it stayed up 15k subscribers for 2 months and closed up within 3 months after that. Last numbers posted were 90k some subscribers like a month ago on SWG, and I can't imagine its dropped 80k+ within that time.
I have no doubt that SWG has more than 10k players, but even if it is only 10k I doubt SOE would cancel it anytime soon. Look at the other loosers this company is supporting: Planetside, The Matrix Online, Vanguard.
Indeed. Even if they rolled back or put a Classic Server, it's already far too late. Not enough would come back, and in the Pre-NGE days, the community was half the reason I stayed with the game. Imagine... if SOE / LA stuck with the Pre-NGE system, but worked on squashing the numerous bugs, giving the revamps to professions that needed it, and adding content. It makes me wonder where we would be right now if something like that happened than the road taken by SOE / LA... the road of the NGE. It's just too bad. And too late.
In all truth and honesty you all would have probably left SWG even if there wasn't a NGE. SWG was ok, not great it was indeed the cummunity that kept most there, but communities never sit still and by today most of you would have grown bored silly of SWG and moved on anyway. LA / SOE just accelerated things a bit with the NGE. People just tend to remember the past through rose colored lenses and forget that SWG was sinking before either NGE or CU actually happened
EVE Online started out with alot of bugs and problems and not alot of subs ( 10k? ), still they managed to overcome, fixed most of the bugs and expanded the universe. Most of the original corporations still exist, many beta players are still in game. They now have 200k subs and 40k+ concurrent users on 1 server.
If Sony had fixed the bugs and expanded/improved the game, they would have gone from 250k to at least 500k over the years. Despite the release of WoW. Because really the major reason why SWG lost subs was cause of the release of WoW. Still they had more then enough subs, they had more subs then DAoC had in it's prime.
I think EVE is the perfect example of the way how to grow a mmorpg. Their 1 server ideal ( yes yes, there is also an Asian server ), free expansions ( as part of the monthly sub ) that allow both vertical AND horizontal expansion and does not have to close of parts of the world because some people did not buy the expansion, the way of staying true to your ideals and expanding/improving on them.
That is why to me EVE-Online is the only real MMORPG out there, everything elss is just not an MMORPG or is/was screwed over in several minor and/or not so minor ways, either intentionally ( SWG ) or unintentionally ( Ultima Online, DAoC, Ryzom, etc )

SOE is collecting dead games.
SOE just has to merge SWG into 6-8 servers. The top 3-4 servers have nice population that allows to experience the game almost properly. The other servers suffer....
There is infact only 12.5k subs for SWG the info can be found if you look on this very site as there is a direct quote from the lead programer stating that there is 15k players that was befor xmas so 12.5 sounds about right given the full of rate of this game. Hell iplayed beta right up till lats sep and just gave up I couldn't bear it any longer.
hate to break it to you vets still hanging on for hope. There will not be a rollback, or bringing back the old code until Lucas says so. SOE has no say in the matter.
It must be much easier to be someone like yourself Levi (and what a shame you try to claim that name, considering it's origin)
Wow, that takes the icing right there, how dare you bash someones name. That is beyond immature. We're talking about video games here kid. Levi is my birth name and you need to get a grip. Your logic is flawed, and you didn't even present a counter arguement to my statements. Just lame kiddie insults. Time for a lot of you folks on this website to grow up.

Does crap always come from you when you type. This is just a clear example of a SWG nerd making up crap, to look cool. Please oh wise one, show us this link that out of the millions and millions on the internet, you are the ONLY person to have seen it.
Pathetic
it is under 10k. and subs are dropping with all of soe's other games. mostly due to protest of what they have done with swg.
and we have done nothing to you we are only telling you the truth that way you can see how much soe cares about it's player base.

So if you tell me you can shoot fire from your ass, i am supposed to believe that to. Show me your 10k proof please. I mean damn at least post of pic of your aunts cousin, ex boyfriend, niece, who knows a person that has a father, who was married to a hot janitor at SOE that said it was true. She might be cute.

SOE's pitiful numbers has little to do with people protesting. It stems from the fact that their games suck. Low quality bargain bin garbage all grouped together under the station pass. Wow what a deal.
i beleive the 10k crpa more than i beleive that eq2 and other games are "revolting" from swg.....those are two entirely different playerbases....one has no influence on the other...stop smoking the wacky tobacky
Scroll to the bottem and you'll see theres a quote from dead meat if you also look at the SWG forums he makes a post there about the numbers each time thay drop alot. (although i havn't been to the site for a long time) but you can all belive what you like as there is no offical relase of numbers so noone will know. As a post starting "A Freind told me" is bound to be shit
And yes im a vet but unlike most I hate this game due to the fact that its beyond help

First some advice, if someone ask you for a source, never go to wikipedia. Second he was disputing the claim that SWG had less than 50k subs. So where did you get 10k out of that. Last DONT USE WIKIPEDIA AS A SOURCE FOR INFORMATION. i can't believe you just tried that.

Sorry but as I said if you look on here theres a interview where the lead programer stats that theres less than 20k acticve players. don't ask me where as I reall can not be botered to look as I don't give to shits about this game anymore

Here is your wikipedia proof LOL LOL:
Veteran designer, Raph Koster, helmed the development and initial launch of the game. Many industry professionals expected that the subscription numbers would exceed the one million mark, a feat accomplished only thus far in Asia by MMORPGs such as Lineage and more recently by World of Warcraft.[53] Based on NPD figures as of February 2004, SWG sold more than 300,000 boxed copies at retail for a total initial revenue of over $18 million. Sony Online Entertainment confirmed in March 2004 that there were well over 200,000 monthly subscribers making it the 2nd largest MMORPG in North America.[54] The company later reported in 2004 that they had 250,000 subscribers.[55] In August 2005, Sony Online Entertainment reported that they had now sold 1,000,000 boxed copies of the game.[56] Media sources reported that the subscriber numbers have fallen substantially since the release of the CU and the NGE.[57][58] In early 2006 after the NGE, allegedly "hacked" numbers purported to show that only 10,363 subscribers were playing on a particular Friday night. The President of Sony Online Entertainment, John Smedley, denied that subscriptions had fallen this low: "Have the numbers in Star Wars Galaxies gone down? I will tell you that the concurrent numbers have gone down. Are they as low as what was shown there? Absolutely not."[59]
As of the second quarter of 2006, according to charts at MMOGchart.com, there were estimated to be between 110,000 and 175,000 subscribers. A more recent update from MMOGdata.com which uses the previous data from MMOGchart.com, estimates that the game has about 49,000 subscribers as of April 2007.[60] However, both MMOGchart.com and MMOGdata.com rated the subscriber number estimates at a "C" confidence level which mean they are "merely industry 'best guesses' or are otherwise questionable" due to SOE not releasing SWG subscriber numbers.[61][60] Posting on the official forums, Lorin Jameson (SOE Producer, Star Wars Galaxies, forum name "DeadMeat") has refuted the latest figure: "I think I am safe in saying the 50K number is vastly wrong."[62]
In October 2007, Primotechnology.com reported that; "It’s estimated that the game now has fewer than 100,000 subscribers and less than 20,000 active players
Now where on here does it show them admitting to less than 10k subs. Learn to read, quit spreding lies.
Shame you guys seem to think a few vocal minority vets, in a disgruntled vets forum I might add, have such power over the mighty SOE and SWG. What most people don't seem to understand and forget is the silent majority. It seems to me the silent majority have made their feelings known quite well.
Why the sudden influx fanbois? Do the vocal minority vets worry you? And you people are in here calling vets pathetic, lame and any number of other adjectives?
So come on in fanbois, try and tell all the people in here how pathetic they are, how deluded they are, how lame they are. But, don't forget about the silent majority who will for the most part never stop thinking how lame SOE and the current SWG is.
I don't care what SWG does anymore. But I do know I will let my feelings known on what I think of Sony/SOE and the state of SWG. So remember that fanbois and various SOE alts, I know you're in here too.
Never, ever underestimate the power of the silent majority.
What SOE and you fanbois seems to forget as well, is these vocal minority vets are the very fans that once loved and supported SWG just like you are now. That is until SOE said take it or leave it in their typical rude and arrogant manner. For some reason various SOE employees seem to think these same vets are the reason SWG is so messed up now. Sorry I don't see it that way and never will. It's pretty much common sense.
So run along now, go back to your high population game.
Oh and thank you to all the vocal minority vets that won't let them forget. SOE must never ever forget those they shat upon.
Have I moved on? Yes. Will I ever forget what SOE has done? Not on your life.

The fanboi's give the vocal, disgruntled vets far too much credit for driving away prospevtive and former players. The NGE incarnation of this game does a far better job of it. Just think of all those vets that try those frequent, free vet trials that still cannot stomach the way the game is presently. The game is also working on its 5th year, so any unsuspecting new players are far and few between. Look to $OE for its inability to improve the game enough to attract new and old players. Look to $OE for the poor and unethical treatment of it customers. A good, QUALITY game can't help but attract and retain new players and SWG fails to do so.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_Galaxies Scroll to the bottem and you'll see theres a quote from dead meat if you also look at the SWG forums he makes a post there about the numbers each time thay drop alot. (although i havn't been to the site for a long time) but you can all belive what you like as there is no offical relase of numbers so noone will know. As a post starting "A Freind told me" is bound to be shit And yes im a vet but unlike most I hate this game due to the fact that its beyond help
Nice one

oh yes me and my fellow vets are the ones lieing.I think its sad when people like you have to lie to new players interested in the game and when you lie to YOURSELVES that you have "won". You havent done anything, all you' ve done is wasted your time.
not soe who lied to us about the game time and time again.
not the fanbois who claim the game is good in anyway.
i have 250k friends who showed soe how much they enjoyed being lied too. we would have quit cu but they did leave some things in that made the game fun. and in the end they would have rolled the game back to pre-cu.
and we did win you fanbois are now begging people to come back. you are now lieing and saying the game is good to the newbies. most of whom i will start telling to go to eve a game that when ground combat comes out will blow ever mmo out of the water. i bet in the next two weeks soe will start begging people to come back. and by the end of the year sony will shut soe down. they don't need soe rep driving the ps3 down.
and i haven't wasted my time i've gotten thank you's from people who almost tried the game.

Please do so.... i'll be waiting... prove to me (and many others of course) that there are tons of people in the game. Please.. im begging.

Please do so.... i'll be waiting... prove to me (and many others of course) that there are tons of people in the game. Please.. im begging.

Lets clear some of that up.Starsider 'is' doing better then other servers.
SOE is collecting dead games.

SWG is past saving.
SOE has shown its incompetencies.
There is no chance for the Star Wars license in its current state.

Pathetic
it is under 10k. and subs are dropping with all of soe's other games. mostly due to protest of what they have done with swg.and we have done nothing to you we are only telling you the truth that way you can see how much soe cares about it's player base.
Pathetic

Awww, how sweet, look at all the fanbois
Hello fanbois!
Nice one
