I'm just curious. We have the WoW Atlas for the ease of use rather then needing it, heck there isn't anything in game that a google can't find you the answer too.
BUT I always see large "B***** Games Official Strategy guide to __________" for any and every game.
I'm just curious how many people would buy such for WAR.
On one hand I normally shun such products, but like the WoW Atlas they do have some uses.

I tend to not buy anything I can get for free (legally) on the Internet.
Information sites will emerge that have all the maps, quest info, etc. that anyone needs, without the $19.95 cost of a printed book that tends to go out of date for anything but maps.
So, no, I will not be buying anything but the game itself.
Strat guides for MMO's go out of date really quick its pointless to pirate them or buy them. Honestly though the games today are pretty much made where you don't need the help unless your JUST that lazy to remember things on your own. I guess in a way I got used to having to memorize how to get to places from my EQ1 days when yea there were maps and online help but it was faster in the long run to just remember the way on your own.
I for one wont be wasting my money on an MMO guide ever.
Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!
Unless they decide to pack something like these in with the CE (which would be awesome) I won't purchase them.
With todays ease of access to information on the internet, from fansites and wiki pages, there is no need to really purchase these bygones anymore.
The only ideal consumer for strategy guides today are the console gamers without a PC, which becomes rarer every day I imagine.
I allways get one for if any reason I keep notes in them that are important to me. Especially if I have a good build going or if I need to jot stuff on the maps, Tho alot of 3rd party programs help keep stuff in order nowadays.
If someone annoys you, it takes 42 muscles to frown, but it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and whack them in the head.
No. I see no reason why I would. If I want info I just use the intrawebs.
Have to agree with this.
I did buy strat guides in the old days, back when MMOs had very little in-game help, poor maps, no good way to find quest NPCs, dungeon layouts, etc.
These days there is so much online help available in terms of maps, quest info, spoilers, walk-throughs, etc., no purchased book guide is really needed.
I will add one thing though. If you like handy paper maps quickly available to you or lists and locations of NPCs and such things, then probably a strat guide would be somewhat helpful.
However, they do tend to go out-of-date rather quickly.

I get them every so often as they make great bathroom reading material.
no.
This is so true that it made me laugh when I read it. I don't know how many times I've brought an old Strat Guide into the bathroom, too funny.
I'm with you, I like have a strat guide at the games beginning so I read it when I'm eating lunch at work, parked at red lights to/from work and when I'm in the can.
I mostly read them for the maps, so I can get on overall feel for the world, and unlike most folks here, I don't bother to research games much on the internet. So sometimes my first introduction to the various classes and abilities in a game are from the strat guides.
Sure, I could spend time looking it up on the internet, but its hard to balance the laptop on the edge of the sink.
Who the hell are you, and why should I care?
Congrats! You are a victim of Trollstar!
Pretty much wha you said here Imp. The last guide I had bought was the LOTRO and was totally a waste being that I stuck with the game for about a week. I have to say in regards to this thread also, Prima's guides usually suck when it comes to MMO information.
They will have to have something really special in it for me to buy it or else I will be using Wiki like I do for Guild Wars.
No I won't. I'll use the free online ones.
Even as bad as I am with money, i won't buy a guide.
No point since most of it can be found on the Internet. Plus they get out-dated rather quickly. However, if they released one like 30 days before the game itself or something like that then I might be more inclined to buy one just to read up on the game and to get an advantage from the start.
Strategy guides are the biggest ripoff in the gaming industry. You would be smarter to shove the money up your own butt and then light it on fire.
