40 euros

I'm sad to tell all the people expecting a free to play game or a micro payment game that tcos has a retail price of 39.99 aka 40 euros

I don't think many, if any thought this game was going to be free. It will have a monthly fee as well as far as I know along the same pricing as regular mmos.

Well it's a shame if the OP did think so. I don't know where anyone would have gotten this idea. At least nothing solid has ever been said.

Let's face the fact that most f2p mmos fail  or at least don't become huge hits and mostly because without any solid incomes the devs can't keep patching and updating the game. Without new content everything dies quickly.

Well this is what I think.

I also like to point out that any price you see on the internet for this game is pure speculation. That includes the monthly fee.

Anyone know how much the monthly fee will be? I read somewhere that it's going to be 15euros, is it really? Which sucks imo. They should just keep it the regular 15usd per month.

Well, that would put the price just under 59.00 US, which is the going rate for newly released games, especially the hot console titles.  So that seems reasonable I suppose, unless games typically sell for less in the EU.

Now 15 EU sounds unfair based on current exchange rates.

As of today if it was 15 euro's a month that would make it 21.90 in USD. Definitly an unfair price

As Ravel mentioned before, it is all speculation.

    Shill much?

    FYI...

99.9% of the time, free does not mean free.

Micro payment games generally work out much more expensive then sub based games.

Item shops and similar payment plans are a long term cancer that, while looking good in the short term, will kill this genre.

I am not aware of anyone who thought this game would follow that genre killing business model. I, for one, am very very happy to pay a sub for a quality MMO.

TCoS is definitly looking to be a quality MMO.

I believe it has been mentioned before on their site but the price you pay monthly is a set fee, it is not based on exchange rates.

So it will more than likely be the same prices for other mmos depending on what country you are in, so for instance in England it will be 7.50 to 8 pounds a month, in America I believe they are $14 to 15 a month.

When the game sells in europe for €40 then it should sell in the US for $50 or less at release..

For the monthly payment, i assume thet are targetting WoW's pricess going for the same amount or slightly less

We have some trustworthy info that 60 day gaming cards will sell for €25.99 versus €26.99 for a 60 day WoW card.  This is based on pricess  showing up on many  of the better informed european online gameshops
