So book 12 for lotro looks pretty aweful but with AoC postponed i need something to keep me entertained in the mean time, id like something with a LOT of content for the lower levels, a decent end game with a good amount of pvp if possible.
I've already player wow so thats out, as i said bored of lotro, played eq2 to 40 when the cap was 60, so going back could be interesting, but is there any other games out there, i was thinking lineage 2 might be a good choice but what is the 1-50 like, a grind or is there plenty to do? age sint much of a problem as long as its still got a dev team working on it.
i was also thinking of EVE but im a bit puzzled by how long it takes to progress a char, apparently it takes years so there seems to be little point in only playing for a few months because i wouldnt get anywhere

I'm in pretty much the same position. Awaiting AoC and need something to keep me busy for a few months. I have also already played out WoW and got bored of it.
Currently Playing some EVE Online but your right, its very slow to get anywhere and its basically a huge sandbox, It's a long-term game really so not good for a few months.
I am trying the LOTRO trial, but it seems to be a little too simple and boring
Vanguard looks to be a good game but its bugged, not hugely n00b-friendly and everyone seems to think its gonna Die real soon.
EQ2 looks very intresting but when I also tried its trial before, the game didn't quite seem right. But theres a new expansion out for it and It still seems very popular.
Other games I'm looking out for in the future are Warhammer Online & Chronicals of Spellborn, which look to be very unique and should add new things to the genre so could be worth trying out, If AoC fails on us that is.
Sorry I can't be of much help But good Luck with your search.
I think I'll be trying out the EQ2 trial again and seeing if it can keep me intrested untill AoC.
Right now wee a BIG inbetween time. Not many seems to have a MMO to be proud of. 2008 will maybe the year we see many big titles released.
Lineage has one of the heaviest grinds around. And not much that's unique.
EVE is unique and the anti-grind. You learn skills at a steady rate, even while offline. But, like you say, many characters in EVE have several years worth of learned skills and they will be tough to fight. However, you CAN become 'useful' in group pvp in a few weeks after learning some basic and a few specialized skills. This game would be worth the free trial just to see how they do the character progression and the single gaming world with over 25k concurrent players.
Shadowbane is about to get a major update, a world wipe / reboot and 2 new servers. That's another unique MMO worth a look just to see the rich character building options, city building / sieging and pvp. The PvE in Shadowbane is just a quick means to level up your charcters. You can max any character (even thieves) in a few days and be effective in pvp. No quests here - the focus is pvp and building kindoms.

ok thanks for the heads up on shadownbane, ive had my eye on that for a while but felt it was dying/not worth it, amybe ill have a go on one of the new servers, also i was thinking og planetside, is that still good to play, being FPS i can t help feeling it might have low population problems and i rarely play at the busiest times.
