The game Sword of the New world can be played on auto, since there is auto defend mode but I guess you dont know that since you havent played it. I wasnt even at the computer 80 % of the time

Well, correct, let's stay on topic I only had to make this comment since your short description about SotNW made me never even want to trial it spot on!
As for VG: I haven't played it so far as to decide whether it's "crap" or not - you can only go as far with terms like "crap" as your own taste - everyone likes different things! Heck, even Horizons and Neocron still have subscribers. I'm a bit afraid VG will be just like those 2: I love them concept of these, but the technical background of all 3 is almost irrecoverably broken (I can see the real lag now in VG, items popping out of nowhere 10 feet ahead of me etc) could kill them on put them on life support.
There are brilliant ideas in all these 3 games, but the broken tech, the lack of development (and commitment) has already crippled 2 of them to death, and VG will also end like this as soon as a really good new MMO comes up - with new, fresh, working concept, good looks and technology as stable and developers as committed, as say, LOTRO's.
I am feeling bad already for VG as I feel that it could have been something totally brilliant, but I wouldn't bet on it that it actually will

I agree with almost everything you said here except that you say about LOTRO, I might also have read it wrong. I was so mad at Turbine when I started to play it, after had preordered the game and I am a big Lord of the Rings fan.
And you are the same as the other guy posting so lame I dont even know where to start. Complain about what games I played before when we are talking about Vanguard, I guess you ran out of ideads talk good about Vaguard so you go for what games I played before to make my comments look bad, guess what you fail and so does the crap game VANGUARD. I played it in BETA, FINAL, and also played months after FINAL when they are said to have "corrected errors, fixes bugs, fixed mem leaks. And stop with the VANGUARD IS GOOD COME BACK POSTS, write that on the VANGUARD FORUMS.
Yeah, yeah, whatever. Your comments are bad, no matter which game you have played, play and intend to play. "The game is crap" is your subjective meaning, and you are of course free to mean that...however, pumping it out here with numerous posts in bold is just complete waste of bandwidth. All games have their fans and haters, your non-constructive hate posts just adds in the row of clueless trolling polluting this forum.
Yes, Vanguard had a crap launch. Yes, Vanguard has a lot of bugs. No, Vanguard isn't THE mmo for all; and probably is NOT the mmo for people finding any interest in running a mmo in automode for 440 hours. However, I do see the bugs getting fixed one by one. The game is running way better on my rig now, than it did half a year ago. I see the community slowly growing. I see people on my server every day having great fun. If you don't see this, you haven't played the game since the last two or three patches, hence you don't know a sh*t what you're talking about.
Btw, this IS the Vanguard SOH section on the mmorpg.com forums, so...
I bought the game acouple of weeks ago, actually I bought two (dirty cheap ) one for me and a friend, and we are enjoying it immensely. Now five more buddies have ordered the game and will soon be ready to join us, looks like we are starting fresh in vanguard.
What we like:
fun classes (except, I have a problem with the tank classes)
Big open world
Own crafting levels - Good crafting system
Option to hide away in the big lanscape and group grind monsters (area isnt all based on quests)
Quick travel system (could be better though)
Mounts as soon as lvl 10 (never understood why I couldnt ride a horse before halfway to level cap in other games)
Cool mounts
Probably more, but I have to catch a fotball match
I cant understand all the hate... its a good game, atleast now it is...
Lovin every minuet of this awsome game. I dont see why youd want to post about a game dying. It just doesnt make any sense. I am glad your here to remind us that we arent as lame as you though. Id takes some A+ Lameness to even write something that stupid. I'll try and feel guilty about enjoying this dead game or something.
Good luck with that. And I can give you a F- for your taste. And dont feel guilty mate.. SOE are the ones that should feel guilty for making people pay to play a crappy game like this. But hey on second thought that is the way it works for them, they must be happy to have people like you paying.
LMFAO i can understand your displaced anger i would be to if i wasted 440 hours of my life in Sword of the New World..
Your credibilty to judge any MMO is now revoked for time spent in SotNW...
Anyone, anywhere, who has played Sword of the New World for more than ten minutes should be automatically banned from having an opinion on anything. If you want the textbook example of a terrible, terrible, awful game, that one is it.
Since you cant say anything good on Vanguard you go for the games I played before, I see you are one of those guys. I have played 90% of ALL mmo´s so I got more cred than you anyways.
Oh no my MMO cred is being brought into question I don't think I can go on.
I can say plenty of good things about Vanguard. In my opinion and in my experience- which I guarantee is far, far more extensive than yours, so consider that in your 'cred' calculations- it is the best overall game design in MMOs, period. And now that it's mostly fixed- to the tune of one CTD in about 4 weeks- there is absolutely no reason to not recommend it to anone who can handle a little depth, complexity, and appreciates living in an alternate world a little bit every now and then. I don't care if the game doesn't get one more iota of development, if it stays exactly as it is until my time there has run it's course- I'm in a great guild, I have good friends, we run some fantastic events and RP, and when I feel like crafting, questing, or hunting, I enjoy that as well.
With the added bonus that 98% of the player base can spell, and don't act like they skipped their ADHD drugs that day, I'm pretty happy. Maybe that 10% of "all MMOs" you haven't played holds a jewel that can make you happy, too. Good luck.
Ok so to that guy knocking my last post- Unless you've played mmos since merridian you cant touch my cred. You got nothing on me whatsoever.
And dont bash me for liking a game. whats that all about? You give me an F- for my taste? So I guess in your opinion taste is not a subjective thing anymore? What is this forum comming to.
I encourage anyone to play vanguard because we could use alot more people on board. Don't be turned away by negative people on this site. I guess on the same hand my positive post wouldn't help recruit. Either way give it a try and if you need any help figuring it out (there is a learning curve) I would be more than glad to help out. Im on the char Listle on Saradon server.

You've just listed what killed the game for me...
Quick travel system
Well that, the removal of the EE (Equip Expertise) system, and the removal of regional markets... The world is big for a reason. It's not just to impress people. It was intended as a barrier to jumping and warping all over the place, and now that's out the window. The game was meant to be huge so that you can't port to the other side of the world in an instant. It was intended as a localized community where you can have a localized economy with specific materials and items in certain areas. It was meant to encourage people to trade, gain area specific items (and looks). If you did take the time to travel to another area, you wouldn't look like everyone else. You'd have your "region" look. Now that quick travel is in. You have a set course of leveling, no variation, no community, no kinship (aka, kinder to gnomes that grew up in your same neck of the woods and completed the same tasks), no real regional conflicts...
Vanguard is a dying game like Planetside where SOE only puts a tiny dev team there and hardly any funds because it's not making the money to justify this, Planetside only isn't making the money cause SOE failed to address the issues after launch and carried on making new ones. SWG is pretty much on the same boat but the only difference is LA would probably take the license of SOE and sue them or something lol, so SOE has to keep development on this game more so than PS. Then you get Vangaurd which has just cost SOE money and not even had a great launch with hardly anyone playing and theres sooo much wrong with the game it's a even bigger task than making the other two games good lol. So tbh i can't really see SOE putting much funds into the game and not wasting any devs on it too, they're going to be putting all their efforts in games like The Agency and free realms and that DC comics mmorpg....
I just think the fans have to realise that this game was dead before it was already released and any development the game has will be very slow and wont be doing much to the game. It's a shame yes but there isn't the player base and there's just sooo much wrong with the game it just doesn't make any sense to bother with like a NGE for Vanguard lol.
I took a large break from the game, however, after trying it out again, sometime after the server merges and update (largly increased my fps, overall performance, and have not seen any ctd myself, not to say others dont get it) - i can tell you i am enjoying it, i even got my lil bro playing it and it played fine on 1g ram and 9600 Radeon (on low settings - had to disable windows firewall etc).
You can consider me a defender of this game but i feel theres nothing to defend, to each his own, VG plays a hellava alot better now than before, classes to me seem fun to play, crafting is refreshing, not on par with precu-swg, but challenging non-the less. I really dont see a pop problem and i really dont think (no proof of course) that pop is decreasing.
Of course this game needs more work, not as polished as WoW, and the OOC can get hostile and funny in my opinion (i play on Serandon-Thaestra cont.) This game is worth a try especially when they come out with the trial keys and version etc, i believe theyll be adding a class or 2. Someone is def doing their job up there. Kudos to them
Sorry didnt mean to make this long - just that theres always a few or alot who actually bash this game, i can not see why there would be a need to develop that kind of emotion, swg-cu-nge feelings i can understand, but this? GL to all, forgive me if i have offended anyone.
i can not see why there would be a need to develop that kind of emotion, swg-cu-nge feelings i can understand, but this?
Then you weren't around when the game was originally pitched. They've dumbed it down to the point where it's just another EQ2 clone. None of the original features are as intended, raiding is being pushed more and more and as I've said in the other post, it's become smaller with the portals. If you like diplomacy and crafting... great. Maybe those aspects are unique, but the combat is cookie cutter, the dungeons (albeit better than in Beta) are cookie-cutter. The nighttime might as well be daytime. The inventory system is cookie-cutter. There's no unique for the adventurer except a new character name. Dreadknights were supposed to be AE aggro machines. They are basic tanks now... my list is enormous as to the reasons to dislike Vanguard. And that's only touching the adventure tree.
Vanguard is fun and runs well if u dont like it why do u bother to post in this forum...and your picture is sooo 80s thrash metal unless that yr bf and not u :P

I 'm fan of VG.
Real fan. this game has great potential, really beautiful great huge ; diplomacy + craft are incredible...
But there"s not enough money in this game: TM works on Ps And VG, only 1 raid, next GU will be a light GU, and halgar (eu) has real problems. Dev put a hotfix on halgar but i remember this computer had a lot of pbs since GU3
I stop VG that's enough, it's not a game it's a perpetual fight. I' m going to play EQ2 because i'ts a polished game.
ping is the worst never had in a mmo.. the worst... released 1 year ago and some critical bugs aren't fixed yet. I send 3/4 bugs reports by day, it's not a release but a BETA.
I never payed for beta testing, it's the 1st time... it's ridiculous, really/
I'm sad...really sad but the best decision i can take is cancel and wait for GU4 and GU5.
Yes it's a GREAT GAME it has a LOT of potential BUT Vg needs more and more improvements.
No flying mounts no helmets, only 1 raid, not enough quests for high lelv (only grind and grind and grind) no quests in RK... mobs disappears on the ground and most of all Halgar has been/is a nightmare for europeans.
CTD, pbs with chunks, lag, awful ping...
You' d better wait for GU4 or GU5 + big patches for Halgar.
I cancel, wait and see for GU4 and stop beta testing + bug reporting.
I'm a VG fan (1 classic + 2 collectors for my family)
but the only thing I can say : wait for more Game Updates and more Bugfixes before trying again Vanguard. Soe needs time to polish the game.

But that is not what the Thread is about nor is it what we should be talking about. Vanguard is still CRAP and even SOE knows that othervise they would put more staff on their game.
