If 3+ months of 8 hours a day content isn't enough for you then you aren't looking for a game you're looking for a replacement life.
i only play 40 hours a week on average....but hardcore players will finish this game in a month or two....and i heard this game would be casual friendly/hardcore "only" 40 hours a week... ie - around 6 hours a day everyday?
Considering that developers consistently overestimate how long the content in there game will last, and also generally underestimate how resourceful players are at finding ways of progressing much faster then the developers intended.
I would consider 800 hours of unique content game play as bit of a dubious statement, unless they are expecting players to repeat the same things many times like in most mmo's.
Eh, I play slow as it is, plus I don't play games very long hour wise.
I think I average 20 hours a month or something, maybe more when it first comes out.
Using the guesstamate of 800 hours, I would think it would be enough for your average player as long as they bring out content at the end of the first year.
I probably wouldn't break 100 before I quit the game though.
Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit
5 hours a day is not alot.....i know ppl who play 100+ hours a week.....thats hardcore.....anyway.....what makes you think i have no life....i still got out with my mates almost every day........i can balance time....also im an insomniac
100 hours a week isnt that core i often do 2 - 3 days straight gaming sessions but thats not healthy and i hear about people dieing from less but i cant understand that because i do almost every weekend.
They said there is around 800h of game content available (storylines, quests, raids etc...)
You will be able to max you character in around 240h thats if you know all the quests and what to do.
( that number was probably made by QA testers and its an average )
I saw someone was comparing with WoW .. QA testers from WoW = average to reach lvl 60 was 68h so if we take those numbers you will need at least 3x more time to max your char in AoC compared to WoW.
p.s. They are planing some special things for those who reached lvl 80 somkind specialization but not much is know about it and it wont be avaiable at release.
i remeber seeing in an interview (i think it was on www.gamespot.com) that AOC has 800hours total gameplay (for the average player)....do you really think thats enough gameplay for the average to hardcore players....i mean will it really be enough to keep players playing till a new expansion in a year or twos times.... ....
You have obviously never played Anarchy Online.. I you did you would know that Funcom makes some of the most complete and indepth MMO's on the market (if not THE most).
I can honestly you tell you that content is one that I am not worried about with this company. Unless they have totally lost ther ever lasting minds, content is one thing you should not worry about either.
It's the other things that are iffy with Funcom, ie the games coding, combat animations, twinking, and other things like that.

Sorry dude, but when you play a game enough hours in a week to fill a full-time job thta is hard core - and a bit sad. If your an insomniac get some help - it is actually a very unhealthy state to be in. I start feeling like I'm wasting valuable time if I spend more than 20 hours online in week (including weekends). Way to many other things in life to do to spend any more time than that.
Ah well -- I guess to each his own. I also know someone who spends close to 80 hours a week playing WoW whom I've also told needs to find some other activities to fill his day. Variety is the spice of life and all that.

iv tryed getting help for my insomnia for years.....but none have worked...sleeping tablets dont work, hypnotusim does not work....acupanture dosent work...emmm....tried some herbs and crap aswell
i go out with friends almost every day.....i just stay out late
Is the 800 hours of gameplay talking about how long it will take a player to level to 80, plus finish the Destiny Quest (finish the main storyline) and possably finish the raids, and maybe even the PvP sieges? Maybe thats what it is talking about, but usually on an MMO people finish the main part of it, and keep playing, because there is always something someone can do when playing, be is making money through crafting, doing instances, raiding, and PvP (which could go on forever, with the constantly changed ownership of the Battle Keeps).
Okay let's do the math. There are 168 hours in a week.
Say you have an average job, in America that requires about 50 hours of work a week. So that's 50 hours gone, leaving 118 left.
The average person needs about 7 hours of sleep a night to keep going. That's another 49 hours gone, leaving 69 hours left.
Now you also take about an hour a day driving to and from work, so that's another 7 hours. Add in another 5 hours a week for running errands and random stuff that comes up. We're down to 57 hours of free time.
If you play 5 hours a day, that's 35 hours a week, or 35/57 = ~61% of your free time playing a game.
I'd say that's hard core enough for me.

Wait up last week end they said there would be 700hrs of gameplay just from end game raid content - for those that like it - otherwise around 900 hrs, plus if your into the sandbox PvP and PvE city scope in personal preferance there too.

i dont have a job....and i only have 15 hours of colleage a week....so i have alot of time to do whatever
Your lucky but the real question is isnt there better stuff to do then just playing a game for all of the free time like maybe studying or something or like bieng on mmorpg.com ?
Or, now be prepared for the unthinkeable, one could read a book. Preferrably a book from Robert E. Howard, perhaps even a book about that Conan guy, given the forum we are currently posting in

PvP games have no end. That is the great thing about them. Using this logic Counterstrike only has 8 hours of gameplay.
Counter strike source has 0 hours of game play but i play it endlessly
Also they said 800 hours a year ago, also they man just to get to maxed out level
800 hours will go by before you now it.

No. That's an emotional disorder. There's only 168 hours in a week. You're either exaggerating or know people with autism.

no im not joking......i know a dude who plays WoW and EQ1 for 14-15 hours a day.....
For people who contribute to and participate in the outside world, 800 hours of content should be insurmountable.
