But we currently have no players at the moment lol because the game is so new
thanks
I understand the excitement from creating a new game. Even if it is severely out of date(i used to make crappy flash games but i got excited every time i finished one). But MMORPG addicts like us strive for perfection in the games we play(even if free), thus a game like this doesnt always "fit in" to the most standard requirements we have for an MMO. I'm sure it might make a nice freeware game for the kids over at like download.com or something, but here it's not usually going to get a very good response.
Not trying to be mean, just giving some advice.
But we still have no players at all lol
Well my original reply vanished but to sum it up:
1. There are free downloadable compilers for c++ as well as many other programming languages.
2. There are thousands of free tutorials on the internet.
3. Local libraries are your friend. Most have books on programming.
4. Ask anymore specific questions in "Developers Corner->Programming" forum.

If practice makes perfect, and nobody's perfect, then why practice?
You have to have a bad day, to understand what a good day is.

Good luck!
Screw the naysayers man. Do you enjoy making these games? If so then do it.
You may want to check out this series on making MUDS: http://www.gamedev.net/reference/programming/features/mudpie1/
A lot of the big cheeses at gaming companies like Raph Koster and Mark Jacobs started out making MUDs. There are no graphics but its a great place to start.
Regardless, follow your dreams and never give up. Who knows, you might be the next Richard Garriott in ten years!

I darent view the link because i am at work, but i hope that you get some people to play the game for the time you put into it.
I have typed several things to compliment you, but just sound patronising, as if i am patting the young'un on the head so i wont say any more

Wow. Aren't you special.
You hate the people who make this form of entertainment possible. Gee, let's all never try anything new, let's just keep what we have.....because Flamingboi hates dreamers!
Everyone screams about the fact there's nothing new in the genre. Someone goes to the trouble to try to learn, to get a start, to maybe be the next person to make something unique...and winds up being eaten alive by illiterate l337 b0is trying to cr8 an internet legend for themselves.
Your first mistake is posting anything that's not an idiotic 'OMFG thz gmz all sux0rz!' rant in this forum. It's going to turn into one no matter how well thought out or intentioned your original idea is.
Keep at it. Learn from the stuff you can do, and add to it. Keep after the dream, and maybe you'll make the game everyone wants someday- maybe you won't, but what the hell, it's worth a shot if it's what you want to do. Rome wasn't built in a day, right?
OK, sorry for the rant. All done now.
