I personally think this is good thing.. this game was very pathetic i dont know about rest of you but i played it and i went back to store and asked for a refund..
The fanbase(me included) was, and still is, enfuriated at EA for cancelling the game. It was a great game, and EA made a completely idiotic move by closing it.(it was making $$$)

Yeah, it was a bad decision by EA to close EnB. Awesome game with a lot of potential but EA is too stupid to see that. I mean look at them, they close EnB, the cancel UXO, they think that UO is still the greatest thing even with its totally outdated graphics and gameplay. If you look at the games they have tried making and then cancelled in the past couple of years it is just rediculous. I hope EA shrivels up and dies. We don't need a company like them causing problems. (oh and if you haven't guessed by now I'm another member of the EnB fanbase that is still ticked off at EA)
bad.. very bad thing they did it. It was my first and the best MMORPG iv tried yet. Im huge fan of space genre games and i dont think any games could compete to EnB. I tried EVE and disliked it 100%. Lets wait for vendetta online maybe that brings some light back to space genre.
Good thing. EVE is far superior to Earth and Beyond in almost every way, and E&B was never properly supported. This game was never at the right quality level to compete.
I've got to admit I'm a bit happy about it because I never enjoyed EnB at all as much as I enjoyed EVE, and EnB's closure meant more players moving to EVE sorry EnB fans..

I love rain, the color gray, and small apartments. I hate CS, the term n00b and this thing --> ^^ But that's just me.
I will miss the game. I think it had some craptastic concepts that never were truly put to the test. E n B will be missed by me (and at least 20 other people, as far as I can tell).
Well I tried E&B -- and Eve, too. I even beta-tested both. But I prefer Jumpgate, even though it's struggling. Eve may have awesome graphics and great subscriber numbers, but Jumpgate has superior game-play, and community.
I too really enjoyed EnB, too bad they are chunking it out like my step mothers soiled underpants... EA will burn eternally and their carcus will be chewed upon by various horrible beasts in which are very horrid and undelightful... Burn...
E&B was the greatest MMORPG I've ever played. It kept me entertained all the time. It was very easy to get into, and it always felt alive. EVE is gigantic, it's beautiful, but it does not have those things. I will always regard E&B as the best of the space genre until something better comes along. There were indeed many things that did not get a chance to happen, but because EA bought Westwood shortly after release, I believe that is why these things didn't happen. I think EVE is a great game, but E&B was so much more fun for me, and if it were revived I would play it again in a heartbeat. I also adored the plot, and often found myself exploring wierd areas searching for every last bit of info about the V'rix and the Ancients that I could grab. I'm still angry that we don't get to find out what happens with all of that. And I also found the Maelstroms generally frightening, which is odd in this kind of a game.
One thing is for sure, and that is that EA is the worst thing to happen to the computer game market in a long time. They cancelled Dungeon Keeper II, Ultima Online 2, Ultima X, and Earth and Beyond. They are clearly obsessed with making money to the detriment of anything else. At least other companies can claim to love making games, even if they know they have to make money at it to succeed. I will never buy an EA online multiplayer game, because I don't trust the company to let it last. They also claimed that they did this and many other things to focus more on Ultima Online. Really? Well, I have no interest in the game, I did have interest in E&B. I don't have any intention of playing UO, and I almost hope the game dies just to spite EA. What else do they have, The Sims online? That's not even the same kind of game. No MMORPG had as good music, either. I could live in Net-7 for the cool music.
It saddens me that this game is closing down. When I played, I usually got bored after level 10. Still, this game had a vast open universe and was a fun time-waster. I liked the idea that you could play a merchant and just haul cargo around the universe. Gave people freedom to play how they pleased.
Someone just needs to buy away EA because they released this game too fast, it has no content whatsoever but running around in space
Liked: Shadowbane, Neocron, Ultima Online(Before UO:R) Not Sure about: DAoC Disliked: AC1, Everquest 1, Everquest 2, World of Garbage(Warcraft), Eve Online, Jumpgate, AC2, Anarchy Online, Sims Online, Saga of Ryzom, Lineage II, City of Heroes, FFXI, Planetside, UO:R(and after)
closing was a terrible idea! i loved that game, it was soooo great, oh, for those who want to know what happened in teh storyline, go to enbportal.com, go to forums, and in alien research theres one stickied called enb "book" go to that, itll give you the link to a 15 meg, 550 page, "book" that ea was based on and written on, allot of repeats in ti though
to whoever said enb didnt have anything to except fly around, you obviously didnt play the game, and if you did, you slept through it,
ENB was all about having anything you wanted to do, the fact that you didnt have it spelled out in front of you face like in most RPG's was the entire point of the game. You could do what you wanted to do, and that option was limitless, with THOUSANDS of missions available to you, well im off,
some of you guys are crazy in here.. it was an awesome game
This was good, because it shows everyone that Electronic Arts has a) a crapload of financial advisors that should be fired and b) no reason to be in the MMORPG area.
Motor City Online was fun, so was E&B. MCO innovated, and failed to make money. E&B didn't innovate but did make money. They cancel both and run like sissies instead of making them work. I personally will never, ever, ever buy any MMO from EA
I second that, Penny. I've read the storyline for where they were taking it in a couple years (this was posted on ebportal.com) and the story really looked fascinating and how the war was going to go.
I pray that someone takes this over, but this late, with EA still saying no, I don't think this is going to happen.
*salute* Good Night Earth and Beyond, and Good Bye to EA!
They probably just realize that this game doesn't really hold up against compitision to come and compitision that is already here. I think EA is a respectable company who knows what they are doing and probably have a very good reason for pulling out of this game and UOX...err...ya.
I don't care either way really, cause I'm waiting for WoW and EQ2.
